  1. Torts is all about benching kassian when he has an off game but yet he plays the twins shift after shift when they are clearly the worst two players on the ice
  2. Henrik shouldn't shouldn't be on the ice. he's cost us more than he's helping us
  3. I liked the idea of that first deal but think it would need to be altered Burrows, Edler, Hansen ROR, Parenteau In order to acquire ROR you will have to overpay as other teams will likely be offering up a lot to get him. Burr waves his NTC to play for Roy, Edler waves NTC to get out of canucks spot light, Hansen is added value Going into playoffs. Sedin Sedin Kesler Higgins ROR Parenteau Kassian Schroeder Booth Weise Richardson Sestito Hammer Bieska Garrison Tanev Diaz Stanton Weber Depending on how that 3 line plays together in I would possibly like to see Booth and Schroeder moved and work in a way to bring in Ott and Bourque. Bourque and Booth could use a change of scenery. MTL needs more drive to the net. Canucks need get a guy who’s had success scoring. Both players are reclamation projects. We’d be stacked with center depth Sedin, Kesler, ROR, Santo, and Horvat and Gaunce in the system, sadly Schroeder becomes the odd man out. Ott would provide more team grit and size with Booth leaving. Our line up becomes Sedin Sedin Kesler Higgins ROR Parenteau Kassian Ott Bourque Dalpe Richardson Sestito That would definitely give this team a new look. Size and scoring on each line throughout your top 9
  4. Wow first he trades your favourite goalie Schneider now weise too I'm pretty sure eveyone knows your top five favourite canucks are: Luongo Luongo Luongo Luongo Luongo
  5. Sadly tonight i'm going to the game and am hoping for calgary to win. I wont cheer out load but i'll be hoping
  6. Four line centers don't have cap hits of over 3 million. Your extremely overvalue Hansen and way undervaluing Gaustad. Even still Gaustad getting traded for a 1st wasn't a good deal for NSH, Gaustad has more value than Hansen, definitely a better playoff utility player than hansen
  7. Gaustad is a 6"5 center. There are hundreds of players in the NHL that can replace what hansen brings. A small grinder with speed that is ok defensively. He works hard but every team has players like hansen. He's not worth anything near a first. I like Hansen but he offers very little to a team.
  8. Why is a guy whos got no goals all year on the ice with less than a minute left
  9. Canucks win 5-2 Luongo/Lack shut the door early in the first canucks regroup, then Kassian with a hatrick (2 PP goals) Edler and Burrows also light the lamp Pavelec has a weak night.
  10. I've posted this before but it would be better to compare goals as related to the entire leagues goal perduction. 2010 canucks were number #2 in goals per game 2011 canucks were number #1 2012 canucks were # 5 2013 canucks slowed down to 20th in a shortened season (easily could have been written off as an off year due to players not going overseas to keep in game shape) 2014 yes we are hurting As Gillis trying to fill this teams needs 2012 - Canucks needed to get bigger and not get pushed around like they did in the boston series - Gillis brought in Kassian and Booth 2013 - Canucks needed to improve our secondary scoring (a playmaking center for kelser is what everyone called for) Gillis traded for Roy. Giliis needs to start filling in our prospect pool with offence, drafts two solid picks In reality Gillis has done a great job attempting to fills the holes on this team. It's something I've been saying for a while. Why do so many people blame a slumping team on a GM, that's up to the players themselves and the coaches. A slumping complete season sure blame the GM but it's only been "one" month of our top players slumping and somehow its the GM's fault. If Burrows and Daniel even score 7-10 more goals each this team would be top 7 in the league and we wouldn't hear all this whinning. Important players have slumps on teams, when that happens good teams lose, (WSH when ovi was having troubles, PIT is the BOS series last year, CHI in 2011) We just need to break our top line players out and we will be laughing. The fact that we've held onto a playoff spot with the absence of our stars just goes to show the type of depth Gillis has acquired for this team.
  11. Here's the biggest difference. Calgary ended up with a rebuild becuase they kept trading their 1st round picks and youth to bring in players to "make playoffs/attempt to make playoffs". The the 1 round picks they did have they went off the charts with trading down and drafting Jankowski. When calgary desided to finally head that way of a rebuild their cupboards were completely bare. They has 1 or 2 tradeable assets and their core was old with no young potential. The big difference is canucks have a fairly young talented core that is already making an impact in the NHL. Kassian, Tanev, Schreoder, Stanton, Lack. Plus we are starting to stock up our prospects: Horvat, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Cassels, Lain.Jensen We've already started to develop the next core and as long as don't go trading young peices away to go all in for a cup run we will not have to go through the calgary senerio. If you really want to compare the teams, Canucks are already farther along than the flames inthe "Rebuild" and we dont have to miss the playoffs. This could change if flames manage to draft a game changer like McDavid but that's a big IF
  12. Too many people on this thread don’t understand the game of hockey. Canucks have a bad game and people blame it on the GM, canucks go on a bit of a slump in one month after just setting a franchise record in the previous month and again it’s the GM’s fault some of the players aren’t scoring. Come to think of it. It’s all Gillis’ fault Burrows hasn’t scored this season after putting up great numbers his last 5 seasons, it’s also Gillis’ fault the twins haven’t played like they have in previous years. Honestly what’s going through some people’s minds. A GM’s role is to put the piece in place. He’s done that. It’s up for the players to make it happen. Not to make excuses but there are so many things that makes a team good/bad that are out of the GM’s hands. 2012 Daniel Sedin getting a concussion and only playing in 2 playoff games. We were 1-1 with him in the lineup. We also ran into the hottest team in the NHL that ousted ever team they came up against, it didn’t matter if we played the kings in the first series or the conference finals, no team was beating the Kings that year. 2013 Sharks out PP us like 37-8, no way were winning a series playing shorthanded the entire time. We were about 24 inches from making that series a 1-1 series tie when Hansen missed the empty net. Is it Gillis fault hasn’t panicked and didn’t focus that shot. Series would have been completely different if he hit the net. So in reality what can you blame Gillis for not doing? The under performance of our top players?
  13. Now if only those players played llke the can (which we haven't seen for a while) we would look like a pretty good team. If we didn't have our top 4 guys slumping this bad this team would easily be a top 6-7 team. Thats the thing, we have the pieces, we just need the players to play at the level we've gotten used of them. That lies on the coaching and the players themselves. Torts these last few (5) games hasn't been good at getting the players ready, he's been rather non noticable......................................... On a side note, was awesome seeing Kes lay the body. Did he ever level Oduya.
  14. I can't wait for this team to come back pumped up after the olympics and goes on a tear in playoffs. So many people will look like complete fools, completely writing this team off when were still in a playoff spot and were only in JAN. But once we win a few games, people will be right back on the wagon cheering them on.
  15. My bad missed the last half of the second, canucks were up 2-1 when i left now it's 4-2 for the hawks. We can blame this on me. Good new is that I'm back so we will come back and win
  16. Winnipeg beat ducks, Does that mean the OP thinks the ducks and the Hawks (who jets beat last night) are bad teams as well? Bad team do win games too, against good teams. This league is full of NHL talent on every team.
  17. First thing you don't put two slumping (Burrows/Sedin) players on the same line Second thing you don't have those same two slumping players centered by another slumping player on your first unit PP. What do we got 3 shots on our last 8 powerplays. Come on coaching staff what are you thinking. If is doesn't work one game shame on you, if it doesn't work two games shame on me. IF it hasn't worked for the last two weeks......what's are you thinking. Change is up already. First PP should have one of Kesler Burrows and sedin, not all three. what a waste of a 2 min opportunity Burrows has what zero goals this year and you got him on the first unit PP, so much for earning your ice time. Put him on the third line and when he's proven he can once again be counted on to score then move him there. Unless your name is Booth or Kassian there's no consequence if your playing bad. No wonder the effort isn't there, no one is being held accountable for not producing. Time to start demoting players. Dalpe may not be the answer but after a goal and assist game he's earned a lot more time then the 4 minutes he got tonight. It goes back to the old saying, it doesn't matter what name is on the back of your jersey, you don't play unless you earn it.
  18. Daniel sure doesn't look like a 7 million dollar player without his brother
  19. I’ll disagree with that. Hank and Daniel are supposed to be elite talents. How many teams have a number one line full of elite players. I’ve posted this before but I’ll post it again Toews Sharp Bickell Crosby Kunitz _____whoever they feel at the time Malkin Neal _____ Hossa Kane Saad (as a rookie last year) Stamkos St Louis _____ Ovechkin Backstrom Mojo Seguin Benn ____ Getzlaf Perry ____ There’s a common theme, two elite players can make fringe second/ third liners play like on a top linemate We have seen in the past that these two can play with anyone; Arvedson, Klatt, Bertuzzi, Jason King, Carter, Pyatt, Burrows and still be dominant players. I don’t know if it is age that has caught up with them, injuries, or just a lack of confidence from not scoring but they don’t look the same. They often lose battle and easily get knocked off the puck, something that was unheard of in the past. Can anyone really say that Daniel looks like a 7 million player without his brother? The good thing is that these two players are extremely smart, committed and highly talented players. They are not that old and can still catch fire to become the players they were in the past. My hope is now that Henrik is missing a few games he can look at the game from a different view, not take for granted his own talents and really use them again. Sometimes playing that many games consecutively doesn’t let you see a different angle of the things that happen on ice. Maybe some time off is what he needed to get going again.
