  1. When was the last time Bieksa effectively pushed someone? He couldn't clear Gerbe from our crease. Bobbling the puck a lot, looks unsure of himself. Really hope he's nursing something.... Twins look weak, passing is getting better though, just not strong on the puck. Fall down really easy around the net and against the boards. Guys gotta start hitting the net, even if it costs some mustard on the shot. A hard shot wide doesn't do much.
  2. That't not my idea of a clean transition. Sounds like letting the twins and Kes slowly die while we wait for reinforcements. A lot of mediocraty in between. It's not like Kane is much older, he helps the core now, and starts his own in the future. A guy like that takes pressure off the twins, Bo and Shink keep it on them, as they aint here yet. I don't actually think theres a deal to be made, at least not now. Theres little we have that teams with such players want. In the past sure, Peg was screaming for a goalie and wants any offensive loss replaced.....Cody...Schnieds.... Same deal with Toronto and JVR, Philly and Voracek. Isles and Stars were/are looking for a combo of goalie/D/C. A lot of those opportunities have come and gone though. Not all that excited about Bo becoming the next Kesler. Especially if when he becomes a goal scoring Selke winner, we strap a couple of tweeners to his hip and tell him sorry, we are looking at drafting the next Bo Horvat, so you're stuck with this middle of the pack team till you retire.
  3. That's a lot of unlikely what ifs. All of which apply to every player including the ones on this team. The biggest ? is can he play in the NHL, yes he can. Same is not certain for our young prospects. For sure we would have to add a roster player, but don't forget, Kane fills a spot. Something a JR player does not. Don't underestimate the team we would have today, every season left with the current core is valuable, likely more so than the future as we probably won't have as good a team for many years. A small move or two on top of Kane, maybe a UFA signing next year...in pretty good shape for a cup run. Is that not what its all about?
  4. Its been poor moves in the past that has left us without a paddle. Cap, injuries, blah blah have nothing to do with it. We made our own bed.
  5. We should totally give him a lil shoutout via a clip and applause. Not often that he comes back here, and we got no beef with him nor Pitts. Huge moment for Canada and Vancouver.
  6. I dont see how next year would be any easier to make a trade than this one. The cap goes up league wide, everyone has extra room. Our NTC's remain, most of the players with them will be 1 more year along the decline line. FA's will command stupid bids, and will inevitably disappoint. Not only that, but we will prob be breaking in rookies. I seriously doubt any of Gaunce, Schroeder, Bo, Shink ect are immediate upgrades over Richardson, Santo, Higgy, Hansen... Nothing we have gets any more valuable. Edler will probably continue to suck, no one will want to pay for him. Dallas and Philly had, and have, good young forwards and are looking for D. Best time was prob at the draft though....when people thought Eddie was good..
  7. Bold is something that makes you go "holy crap!". Doing nothing is pretty "holy crap" to me..
  8. Forget 1sts, pretty sure Hansen is our last pick period playing on the team. Unless we are counting the callup for Corrado. Yea theres some injuries and such, and a couple trades, but damn thats gotta be close to a record.
  9. Same thing happened in that 1st Kings game. Came out hard, tons of chances, couldn't bury em and eventually got overwhelmed. Had a couple of those gone in, we likely have a different outcome. These empty net and tap in chances need to start being converted. Whatever it takes to do it. Should have been 4-0 by the 2nd, then our crap play wouldn't have mattered.
  10. Quite a few appropriate forwards have been moved, or at least made available for the right offer over the last few years. We traded a couple big pieces in Schnieds and Coho, while having Edler and Hansen as good value extra pieces, yet here we are..
  11. Garrisons gotta step up, big guy, never seen him lay a hit..like ever.. Bieksa sucking hard, looks injured.
  12. Always wanted to see a minimum wage player score 5 and get someone the 1mill prize. "that's like double my salary!" lolol.
  13. Him and Booth looked good together. Except for colliding behind the net lol.
  14. Yea Hamhuis has been very unHammerlike this season and last. Still overall good, but not his best, and definitely not Olympic quality. Don't think he should have gotten the best d-man award last year, Garry + Tanev have outplayed him for a while now.
  15. Hamhuis fail, dunno what he was thinking there. Neither option was ideal, but either was better than nothing.
  16. Stick with the Devil we know. Booths problems aren't so much play related as they are injury riddled. Its only 1 more year, buyouts should be used on players with longer contracts that will drag us down. Its only 4.25, with the cap going up, it's not such a big deal. Raises can still be handed around, and a big FA signing will cost wayyy more and likely end up with no better of a player. If we are gonna get an impact forward, its probably gonna have to be via trade, which will open up $.
  17. Too much Cody bashing, and for stupid (mostly made up) reasons. The trades pros and cons were never, and will never be based off who the better player is. Not that we win that one either. This isn't a fantasy league, the trade has had a real life impact every day since it was made. The clock began to run on that day, taking away horsepower from a presidents trophy winning team isn't exactly a good start. We have come to some unfortunate endings ever since, again, that has little to do with Cody himself, but rather the value. We have been bleeding for a while, for that we have lost. In the future, maybe things change, but looking at the core, and our other future pieces....against this division....they got their work cut out for em. Not Kassians fault, he didn't trade himself, should be judged on his own play. Which is slowly getting better, these good games need to be closer together.
  18. He doesn't make that much, and bidding in the madhouse that is free agency will likely leave us with something much much worse. Look at freakin Clarkson.
  19. Looked good tonight, always love it when someone sets up my boi Tanev! Still, he didn't really do anything spectacular, wasn't faster, didn't hit harder ect. Wasn't a display of any kind of superior hockey IQ than he has in the past. Not saying thats bad, just leads me to question why he doesn't play this way more often.. Whats standing between Kass, and SuperKass? Is it confidence? or was it simply a good game which comes to every player once in a while?..
  20. I dont think the NTC is as big a deal as many make it out to be, but any self respecting hockey player would claw with their fingernails to stay away from Edmonton.
  21. Well, technically they do if thats what it takes. Though no way I move Kes, wouldn't improve the team at all.
