  1. No thanks I'd rather match their physicality and pushback. That's the style I want to see and that's what wins in the playoffs. Loved the way Myers played against the Wild.
  2. It evens up at the end. Just gotta stand up to them. I never want to see the "turn the other cheek" BS ever again
  3. They can't always call it one way, at some point they even up the penalties because both teams are taking liberties just like the Wild series.
  4. Stop turning to the refs to make the call. They don't call everything in the playoffs! How many times do we do this song and dance. In the playoffs the refs out their whistles away, we need to handle our business. They're slashing Marky and we're not doing anything, we get in their goalies face and they rough our guys up. Gotta pay it back.
  5. Didn't see any pushback on the physicality aside from maybe a Roussel a little bit. Nobody else was doing anything.
  6. Need some pushback. Can't turn to the refs on every call, handle your business out on the ice.
  7. Need to push back with the physicality they're already bullying us and we're not pushing back. Don't like where this is headed.
  8. Happy birthday to Mr. Pearson!! Was clutch against the wild, let's see if he can keep it going.
  9. Disagree. We won those games because we had bite and push back, we can't change that strategy now. Double down on it. Always gotta stand up for teammates and match the other teams physicality in the playoffs otherwise we're getting run out of the building. Stay aggressive and keep pushing back boys it's a dog fight LET'S DO THIS
  10. I don't mind Myers' play at all, he has bite and we need him to play with an edge. He's being penalized for being too big. Same thing Chara deals with except we can all agree any team would be lucky to have Chara. Sure he's better defensively but Myers is a 2way guy. Keep it up Mysey, make their players pay the price for going to the front of the net. #Beast
  11. What do people think of this lineup for next year:image.thumb.png.3d9ce99291f9c7c34ea87072983268e5.png

Here are the proposed offseason moves:

Gives us about 25 mill in cap space to work with for summer of '21-22 when we need to re-sign Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, etc. Thoughts?

Bought out Baer this summer - cap hit would be 1.76 mill for next year, then 800k the following year.

While the lineup is fine, I don't like the trade you made to make it happen.  I feel like that's a huge overpayment just to move Loui.

Well we need the cap space for the year when we're re-upping Hughes and Pettersson. With cap staying where it is for the next 2 years, it is going to take an overpayment to get Eriksson's contract off the books (without us retaining). We're actually getting a high 2nd rounder back from OTT, which is essentially a first. I actually don't think it's an overpayment, if anything I'm not sure OTT will go for the trade.

I actually had Sutter in a trade instead of Loui where I was retaining 2 mill on Sutter and sending him to EDM for a pick. But getting Sutter off the books doesn't help us when re-signing the 2 big ticket RFAs so I went back to Loui.

EDIT: And that trade actually fixes our salary cap issues for the future. We would still probably lose Pearson when his contract is up but we have some young kids coming up that can replace him like Podkolzhin who plays a somewhat similar game.

  12. I actually had EA access but cancelled cuz I wasn't using it much - I'll look for a digital/hard copy of the game. Looks like we're missing quite a few teams though so I'll wait until we have more. Sorry I'm frugal
  13. I'll see if I can get one this weekend!
  14. Damn I'm still on NHL 19 otherwise it sounds like fun. I'm buying '21 so if you make this a yearly thing I'm in for next year.
  15. If they can find a top 4 RHD on an ELC that their team would be ok with giving up I'd definitely be all over that, but that's a pretty tall order... did you have someone specific in mind? Buying out just gives the cap hit a slow and painful death. I'd much rather retain for the duration of the contract than buyout, but that's just me. I can definitely see Baertschi as a buyout candidate, and in all honestly it's the most likely outcome. His 2nd year would only be like 800k cap hit if I'm not mistaken so that's a buyout I'd definitely be ok with. Which means that if we can use Virtanen+ to get rid of Eriksson, we'd get some cap relief and we'd probably be able to re-sign all of Tanev, Toffoli, Markstrom (+ Gaudette, Stecher, Motte etc)
  16. I agree with the lineup for the most part except if they're planning on re-signing Toffoli, Tanev and Markstrom I can't see Sutter coming back. Virtanen for right D would be good, but there's no room to add on the cap because a package around Virtanen should fetch a decent Dman, which also comes with a decent cap hit... Hughes - Tanev Edler - Myers Rathbone - Stecher Juolevi/Fantenberg I think we'll have to sacrifice another year of "mediocre" defense in the interest of having ELC that help out with the cap. I think Virtanen has to be packaged with a cap dump. Maybe Virtanen + pick/B level prospect like a Lind or Rafferty (while his stock is high) to get rid of Sutter + Baertschi (or just Eriksson)? You'd still have this forward group: Miller - Petttersson - Toffoli Pearson - Horvat - Boeser Roussel - Gaudette - Leivo Ferland - Beagle - Motte/MacEwen/Eriksson Motte/MacEwen/Eriksson Defense as stated above. Goalies are obvious... Not a bad lineup and I actually see it as an improvement from this year as we'll have a slightly more balanced defense with Hughes growing, and Rathbone settling in as the year progresses AND Demko gets better which would be a huge boost. Not even sure if this lineup fits under the cap, but adding a decent dman with a price tag definitely wouldn't fit under the cap. It might also be worthwhile to actually get Hoglander into the lineup if they can make use of him so that he can get acclimated to the NHL and potentially take over Pearson's role when his contract expires at the end of next year. We might not be able to afford to re-sign Pearson when we have to re-up Petey + Hughes + Demko without the cap going up.
  17. Shouldn't it be named the Bergeron trophy at this point?
  18. Wouldn't mind seeing him angry every now and again if I'm being honest.
  19. I'd rather package JV with a cap dump if we're going that route. We have enough talent on our roster and coming up in the pipeline that we don't need to add more. We just need to clear up some cap space (and some bodies so the young kids on ELC can slot in).
