  1. IMO Hughes is WAY more dynamic offensively than a Brodie or Barrie they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentense. Brodie and Barrie at the same age never even recorded their first NHL points yet. Hughes at this point already has 2 season in the 60pt range and is only getting better. Barrie only reached these heights last year playing with McJesus and Brodie hasn't even come close. HE may never be a Hedman type but he's at the very least Karlsson esque a guy who in his prime will put up close to ppg numbers. You're really underrating Hughes here IMO. We tend for forget Petey and Hughes are still 2-3 years away from their prime. Petey is already a star centre in this league and like Hughes is still getting better. If you compare their seasons at the same age EP is already producing at the same rate as Eichel. Now Jack Eichel broke out the year after for 82pts in 77 games which is very do-able for Petey this season. In fact with the extra scoring support it's likely he even reaches greater heights but we'll see.
  2. Elias Pettersson without a doubt. He’s gonna hit 90 pts this season who voted for OEL?
  3. Vancouver: Got rid of alot of dead weight and added some great players HM to New Jersey they're going to surprise alot of people.
  4. Would love Ritchie. Good net front presence, can play hockey and sticks up for teammates.
  5. This is why they'll never win a cup. When's the last time a team won without a legit 1C
  6. Definitely 3/4 Kings wins were one goal games. Who knowns Daniel Sedin likely would have tipped those in our favour.
  7. Sure sign him and have him do drills vs MacEwen/Gadjovich, dump it into his corner and go to town. See what breaks first his spirit or his body.
  8. It's ridiculous how this team doesn't give two sh*ts about each other. Justin Bailey got hit from behind and had his season ended by Lucic, the reaction? Same old turn the other cheek, pretended they didn't see it. Boeser got hit from behind during a PRE-SEASON GAME, zero response. WTF it's a pre-season game who gives a sh*t bout the W, beat his as* down. The Rangers are a smaller team than Vancouver even they had a better response to dirty cheap shots.
  9. I'm still not sold on the Sens tbh, Ottawa Senators Fowards - Down the middle they got White (who was heavily sheltered last year) Tierney and Anisimov (nothing to write home about). They upgraded their top 6 with Dadonov but losing Duclair almost offsets that. barring any surprises( Stuetzle or Norris) they'll struggle to score again. Defense - After Thomas Chabot there's a massive drop off. Brannstrom may be NHL ready but still needs to be sheltered and they have nobody to do it. On the right side their top 2 is Gudbranson and Zaitsev. Goaltending - I may be the minority but i don't think Matt Murray is a good goaltender. A lateral move or marginal improvement over Anderson IMO. No doubt the Sens will be better than last season but I don't think they're even close to being a playoff team much less pass the Canucks. I agree with your assessment of the Habs completely. Toronto Maple Leafs Losing Johnsson and Kapanen is going to hurt but i think will be offset a bit by Matthews having a career year and their young core improving. In terms of toughness they've improved a bit, adding Bogo and Simmonds but losing Clifford. On D Brodie is an upgrade on Ceci and Reilly will bounce back having a better partner and taking over PP1 minutes. Unfortunately they're my pick to finish at the top of the Canadian division as much as I despise them Winnipeg The Jets are practically the same team as last season. Forwards - Even with Wheeler slowing down it will be offset by Connor improving. Stastny at this point of his career isn't an upgrade on Roslovic IMO . They'll be battling for a playoff spot. I agree with your other assessments. Edmonton Oilers Agree with your assessments Calgary Flames I'm not sure how much their D has tightened up TBH. Giordano isn't the player he was, is another year older and lost his D partner Brodie. Last season Hanifin and the departed Hamonic had the toughest match-ups I guess signing Tanev somewhat negates that loss. Their bottom pair is also a huge question mark with guys like Valimaki/Kylington/Nesterov/Yelesin (aren't NHL ready yet). The drop off on D will be negated by the huge goaltending upgrade IMO.
  10. Petterson - Horvat - Miller down the middle is downright scary and not many teams can match that. We're not too far off from turning that wet fart into a strong and loud fart with enough velocity to rattle butt cheeks when released. This could've been our balanced top 9 in the bubble. Ferland- EP - Virtanen. Ferland has underrated offensive instincts Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli Tanner and TT have chemistry Gaudette - Miller - Boeser All american line
  11. I don't agree on that either. I think we would be top 3 in a Canadian division. Our young core will be another year stronger. Also don't underestimate the impact of Schmidtty, we score alot of our goals in transition off the rush and with him/Hughes on the ice for 45+ mins a game we will spend less time defending and alot more time attacking. I may be the minority here but IMO the other Canadian teams didn't improve all that much other than the bottom-feeding Senators who we should still feast on. Calgary - marginal improvement due to upgrade in goal. Defense is weaker with an aging Gio and losing Brodie. Edmonton - Improved depth and PP but still lack a goalie. Winnipeg - Added Stastny which is not an upgrade in any way. However, they always give us trouble for some reason. Toronto - Downgrade, They lost alot of speed and depth in Kapanen and Johnsson. Montreal - Lost Domi, if Anderson is as advertised they will be tough but i have my doubts. Weber is another year closer to retirement. Ottawa - Still a bottom feeder. I can see Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver fighting it out for the top 3 spots.
  12. There was one video i saw him in a Bruins jersey, that was enough for me
  13. JB bringing back the dreaded Persson- Pettersson combo from 17-18 Vaxjo Lakers.
  14. I LOL'd when i read that bolded part and immediately remembered that blowout win vs Boston where LE had an WIDE open net at the side and he fans on it. Luckily Pearson was there to bury it and he got an assist
  15. I think our disagreement comes from you saying that "Most of the time it was for a period or two but a lot of times it was a shift or two." Yes there were many MANY games where he played on in the top 6 and then was back playing on the 3rd or 4th most of the game and in general all over the lineup. A "swiss army knife" of sorts as iBatch put it. However, i did not include those games in the numbers i posted. In those stretches Jake spent entire games not a shift or period or 2 but all 3 periods with either Bo or EP. It's far from consistent i'll give you that but it's also nothing to sneeze at. It's a decent trial IMO, not great but we got a pretty decent look at what he can do with Bo and EP. Nobody is saying Jake was a "regular" in the top 6 btw .
  16. I checked the numbers for EP, Miller, Horvat and Pearson and the numbers align with the eye test. It definitely doesn't show that they're playing 10-20 games in the bottom 6. You're bang on about the 20 ish games he started in the top 6 though. He started 11 games near the beginning of the season with Horvat and Pearson including 6 games in a row. Then he had another 10 games starting on EP's line broken into 2 stretches and another random 9 games where he didn't start in the top 6 but played mostly with one of Horvat or Pettersson. There's no denying that ATOI of 13:05 isn't top 6 minutes. However it also isn't just "2-3 shifts" in the top 6 like what others (not you) are suggesting. Yes I catch all the games either on TV or live, I would not comment based on scoreboard watching
  17. You claimed he was playing 10-12 minutes a game. You thought he was close to PPG in the top 6 You also told me to look at the stats since my memory is alluding me so here they are. I read the above posts. Where do you guys get the idea he's only playing a "2-3 shifts here and there" in the top 6? He's played about 30 games with a solid average of 13-14 minutes in the top 6. Yeah it's not 30 games in a row but those are still solid minutes and not "a few shifts here and there".
  18. Yeah it was on Boeser. I certainly didn't forget that hit I was pissed! Exhibition game, perfect time to send a message without costing the team and everyone just pretended nothing happened .
  19. How is it funny? 17-18 He played 75 games vs 69 = More minutes in 6 less games. I did and it appears it is your memory that is alluding you LOL Here's the stats Virtanen with Horvat- Pearson 4 pts 17 GP Virtanen with EP-Miller 4pts 12 GP Virtanen with Gauds-Roussel 8pts 20 GP Virtanen with Sutter-Leivo 3 pts Virtanen with Horvat-Leivo 2 pts PP2 with Gauds-Roussel - 7 PTS PP2 with Gauds-Pearson 2 pts Here's his 5 most common line EV strength line combos which account for the majority of his points. As you can see he's most effective with Roussel and Gaudette. He's not gonna suddenly become a PPG player with EP and Miller or Horvat.
  20. Good value for a guy who will crosscheck you from behind in an exhibition game.
  21. Jake hasn't played 10-12 mins a night since 17-18 He's been closer to 13-15 mins a night, seeing lots of time on the Horvat line and EP-Miller line and strangely enough his numbers haven't been great. His best production actually comes from playing with Gaudette/ Roussel which IMO suits his play style more.
  22. Their cup window closed when they traded Panarin IMO Kane Toews Kubalik Panarin-Strome-Debrincat XXXX- Dach - XXXX would've been able to run and gun with anybody. Toews is delusional if he thinks they can still compete now. Be a good guy like Burrows, understand that the team is rebuilding and let them get max return.
  23. IIRC only on the PP. Boeser played mostly with Vanek/Gagner or with Bo on the BBB line
