  1. After watching Vince Dunn's sad attempts to defend against our boys I don't want this guy anywhere near the Canucks. Seems like ever goal we scored he was on the ice.
  2. I remember this. One guy commented "He gives us half a Kane and we win the Stanley Cup" i believe was the exact quote. lol
  3. Tyler Seguin with 2 goals and 11 assists 13pts in 25 playoff games. 45 pts in in 87 playoff games. Straight up playoff choker at least he can cry on his boyfriend Benn's shoulder.
  4. It's gotta be that ridiculous playoff schedule that likely cost us a victory against VGK.
  5. Says the so-called top centre who was 10pts in 24 games way to lead by example buddy. Go back to your bunkmate Benn.
  6. Start markstrom game 1 demko game 2. Whoever plays better stays in. Leak news that the other is unfit to play. Use Domingue as back up game 7 BAM! Surprise other goalie is healthy other team is completely off guard.
  7. Yeah he never played in our top 6 but he sure produced like a top 6 forward. Not doubting the impact of the Malhotra injury, but not sure why you think Hamhuis was never the same after the injury as he had an excellent season in 11-12 IMO his best season as a Canuck. How do you explain our scoring suddenly falling off a cliff after the trade? The loss of Hodgson rendered our 2nd PP useless, and the third line goes from one of the most productive 3rd lines to a checking line. The 11-12 Canucks lost 3 1 goal games to the Kings. Having our top scorer and another scoring line and PP unit could've made the difference.
  8. Excellent post i couldn't agree more. IMO the problem was masked a bit in 2011-12 by career years from Edler, Bieksa and Hamhuis. But you're right something definitely was off and it was the transition offense. Just like this year we had no answer for the Kings forecheck in 11-12. I've been saying even before this year Hughes is a game changer but he can't play 60 mins a night. Hopefully with the arrival of Juolevi and possibly Rathbone we can finally put an end to these issues and win a damn cup! Absolutely, Malhotra allowed Kesler to take on a more offensive role and he was a HUGE loss. It also forced us to play Lapierre on line 3 instead of the 4th line, effectively killing our ability to run 4 effective lines. Our revolving door 4th line contributed nothing to our cup run.
  9. 100% A lot of posters back then felt the Canucks went downhill after their win vs Boston in "Game 8" and were never the same after. In reality they were never the same after the Hodgson trade, they lost a top 6 forward and gained a bottom 6 project, absolutely made no sense. Having CoHo that year gave us 3 dangerous scoring lines, we became much easier to defend after that. The cheap elbow by Duncan Keith on D.Sedin didn't help either. In the 19 games after the Hodgson trade they averaged 2.26 Goals Per Game. They ended up finishing their season at 3.03. Can only imagine if they kept Hodgson and D.Sedin was healthy, that 2012 cup likely could've been ours.
  10. Where do i even begin? The brick walls Marky and Demko? Hughes record breaking season? EP's first playoffs? IMO the thing that sets this core apart from the past Canucks teams is the killer instinct of this young core. First chance they get to eliminate Minnesota they fought back from a 3-1 and a deflating 4-3 goal to win 5-4 in OT First chance they get to eliminate St.Louis they blew them out of the building. We've had some great teams but seems like whenever they had a chance to eliminate a team, they would suffer deflating blowout losses and sometimes let other teams back into series.
  11. Seeing as how we had no answer for the VGK forecheck. We badly need some more puck moving defenseman. They double teamed Hughes cause they know he's the only guy who's a legit puck-mover. Our current Defense played admirably but are very lacking in foot speed and it showed. I'd like to see what we have in Juolevi and Rathbone. Juolevi makes a great first pass and Rathbone has speed and can rush the puck. If these guys pan out it would help immensely against a team like VGK. Instead of getting hemmed in by their forecheck we would be countering with an odd man rush the other way cause they're so aggressive. When VGK was beaten in 5 games by Washington they gave up a ton of odd man rushes. Bottom 6 I'm not ready to move on from Virtanen quite yet, his improvement this season is intriguing, although he doesn't play a heavy game like i'd wish he would. Motte is a keeper lock him up! Podkolzin is going to be a game changer for us, a puck hound with size that will cause chaos around the crease. Other than that we just need to keep developing our prospects and surround them with quality support players. I firmly believe this will be the core that will win us our first cup.
  12. I'd hate to be DeBoer right now. Do you start the fat hot-headed goalie that the Canucks broke last night Or do you start the rusty goalie that choked game 7 last year.
  13. Good Post, I've watched Raymond's entire career here and in his prime he was a legit top 6 with speed that gives the other team fits. Up to 23 years old very similar stats Raymond .36 PPG Virtanen .34 PPG First playoffs (Small sample size) Raymond 3 PTS Virtanen 2 PTS and counting Jake's 23 year old season gave me a lot of hope that he could be on the verge of breaking out. I really thought he would step up his physical play in the playoffs but it's been more of the same. More important than points, i'm just looking for Jake to drive the net more, create havoc and throw his weight around, he does this and he instantly ends any comparison to MayRay.
  14. I think Raymond's peak is realistic for Jake 25 goals 50+ points, but he's not there yet hence "less scoring touch". I want him to be a 30 goal 60pt hit machine too but that's unrealistic IMO. Which part of it is non sensical? He does play a speedy perimeter game, I've seen him use his speed to drive the net maybe once in the playoffs and throw one big hit on Vince Dunn. That's my opinion, just cause you don't agree doesn't make me a hater lol I badly want Jake to prove me wrong but watching his game in the playoffs leaves much to be desired.
  15. I love it when Jake throws hits problem is he chooses not to. He lets up on hits more than he finishes. The knights are finishing every check and he has the chance to obliterate Stephenson and he gives him a love tap. I want to see the Jake that erased Nichushkin, but he's just not that player. I'm not hyper focusing on negatives here it's an accurate comparison based on my eye test if you don't agree that's fine. Raymond in his prime hit 50 pts including 25 goals i think thats realistic for Jake He's great at using his speed to backcheck Both have amazing speed Both play perimeter hockey Other than falling less often and occasionally throwing a big hit when he feels like it what makes Jake so different?
  16. Jake at this point is more like a Mason Raymond with less scoring touch. They play the same speedy perimeter game.
  17. Woudn't be surprised, this exact roster collapsed last year too when they looked absolutely dominant after 4 games. VGK tends to fade as a series goes on, gotta wonder if their intense style of play wears on their guys late in a series. This year they added Lehner who can easily break and get lit up and they got an aging rusty Fleury on the bench. EVERYONE WRITING OFF THE CANUCKS GTFO CANUCKS IN 7
  18. I think it makes more sense to start Demko in Game 6 since it's going to be a back to back and come back with a fresh Marky in Game 7
  19. Not over till it's over. VGK after 4 games last year vs San Jose. 5-0 Win, 5-3 Win, 6-3 Win 5-2 Loss Look Familiar? History repeats itself 5-2 Canucks tonight. Canucks in 7
  20. I'm with you here. Playoff Guddy was a beast. Undefeated in a Canucks uniform and can straight up erase guys with hits. - Made Tom Wilson look like a fool for challenging him.
  21. Yes that hit on Wilson was definitely a blindside and a tad late, but shoulder to shoulder at least and not a headshot like that dirtbag McNabb I've always hated McNabb ever since that hit and wished somebody would tune him up.
