  1. I can agree with all your points except the little bit about Zibby. The problem with the Zibanejad angle is that he's a PPG Centre who has shown he can produce at a very high level that BB would probably never be capable of. I don't think BB is worth anything remotely close to Zibby IMO.
  2. Since Bruce took over he's had 18PTS in 22GP which equals to 67 PT pace which is basically his career average. He's definitely improved from earlier in the season but it's more in line with his career average.
  3. Yeah but he's also way cheaper and the production is very close. #40 or 43 the point is he's not one of the best in the league in goal scoring. You think he should be mentioned with guys like Connor or Debrincat? If you said he's top 40 in the league in goal scoring i'd agree with you. It seems your standards of being "one of the best in the league" are pretty low. Yes I've seen both. One of them Petey literally shot it right off his stick and in. All he had to do was have a stick on the ice, and the other one was a lucky bounce, that he tapped in. Literally any other Canuck could have scored those goals.
  4. I think Conor Garland can more or less replace it internally. I don't think Hog will replace it for a while, and Klimovich is still a long shot. I would love to get a RD back in return, and IMO the hole can be filled in FA with a guy like Reilly Smith who can pretty much match his production and play a better 2 way game.
  5. Being on pace for 30 is one thing, maintaining the pace and finishing the season is another. In his most productive seasons he starts strong and finishes slow. For example last season he starts out strong 10G 18GP then he trails off and scores 13G in his last 38GP
  6. There are 43 players that have outscored BB since he joined the league, I'm not sure how that makes him one of the best in the league. I'm not sure there's anybody other than you that considers him one of the best in the league. I don't feel he should be mentioned in the same sentence as guys like Pastrnak, Connor or even Debrincat (These guys are some of the best in the league) He's playing, but you can clearly see that his shot isn't what it was before. Like another poster stated earlier, he's not even in a shooting position on the PP anymore. His shot was lethal before but now even the coaching staff isn't utilizing his shot. It's a problem when your so called best goal scorer is putting up 4 goals in the playoffs. I was merely stating that Motte can match his goal production in the playoffs which is unacceptable. TT is still producing at close to a 60 pt pace this season which is about what BB puts up for way cheaper. BB is going to be 25 in a week and he hasn't even improved on his rookie season.
  7. Coaching does play a part in it but he was actually regressing under the same coach. Pace is one thing, actually playing the games and maintaining the pace is another. Being 43rd in goals does not make you one of the best in the league IMO. Benn is completely washed up at this point and most of those guys are older players at the tail end of their career, minus Timo Ehlers and Larkin, Stone has barely played. I wouldn't consider any of those guys one of the best in the league in goal scoring. I'd be ok with BB in the Timo Meier/Ehlers range. around 6M. There are many players you can sign in FA that would replace him if not do better. TT offered almost the same production at 4M. IMO the money is better spent elsewhere like fixing the defense. His 4 playoff goals can easily be replaced even by guys like Tyler Motte. You can put it that way that he can score at a 32 goal pace but he's never done it, injuries are a big issue for him. I think he's already damaged goods as his shot has never been the same since 17-18
  8. JT Miller made an excellent pass giving him the time and space he needs to snipe. He still doesn't have that quick Matthews-esque release he used to have.
  9. Oh I think i am. Just off the top of my head Ovechkin, Stamkos, Draisaitl, Pastrnak, Crosby, Mackinnon, Kucherov.
  10. Oh really? So if it doesn't agree with your opinion then it's wrong?
  11. He was incredible during his rookie year, he could create the space on his own and had a lightning quick release which has since disappeared. I've seen the article, I don't agree that he elevates the players around him. He's playing with guys like JT Miller and EP who are the ones IMO that elevate the players around them. Talking about bad passes BB is terrible with that too if you watch the games he makes his fair share of bonehead passes leading to turnovers.
  12. I know every player develops at a different pace, but most modern goal scorers peak years are 22-25. I hope he's a late bloomer. He hasn't had that quick release since his rookie season. Last game JT Miller made a great pass giving him room to get his shot off. His rookie year he could create that space himself and get his shot off way quicker, it was Matthews-esque which is why I was so high on him before.
  13. He's coming off a major wrist injury and missed half of last season we can cut him some slack. We all know Petey can be that play driver, we're starting to see flashes of the dominant Petey recently. I'm fully confident he's still going to be one of the most dominant C's in the NHL and hopefully lead us to a cup. He's stepped his game up in the playoffs which is a good sign. As for Podz i agree that he would be the perfect complimentary player for petey. Strong as an ox, can bulldoze guys and has good hockey sense. Once he gets comfortable he's going to be a a b*tch to play against. We already see the nice plays he makes like that pass to EP a few games back.
  14. I'd say about 19/50 are C as there's a few that are listed as a C but don't play that position on their team. (Marchessault, Kyrou, Kempe, Duchene) Even excluding these guys wingers still make up over 50% of the top 50 goal scorers.
  15. If iI recall correctly he didn't produce at all on line 3 and his struggles continued into the playoffs scoring like a 3rd line forward while playing top line mins. IMO BB was the one who enjoyed a bump in his stats from playing with guys like Miller and EP. He does not drive the offense like Miller does or have his playmaking ability. Also IMO JT Miller was our best forward every season since he joined us.
  16. You could say the same about Brock, we had him on the 3rd line a couple years back and he could not produce to save his life.
  17. I was under the impression we were strictly talking about goal scoring here, you're right centres do pick up more points on average. Centres and wingers on average score goals at about the same rate. Some of the best in the business are wingers. IMO it is valid comparing all positions .
  18. Yeah injuries happen, but when you can't stay healthy enough to even crack 30 that's a problem. When comparing goal scorers why the hell wouldn't you compare all forward positions? Is there a special RW goal scoring trophy in your imagination?
  19. You're not even taking part in any of the discussions. You couldn't even answer my comment with anything valid or factual.
  20. IMO with BB we absolutely have to look at the injuries as I haven't seen that quick release and sniping ability since his rookie year, feels like he takes forever to shoot the puck now. Miller does have the most value and would bring back a king's ransom but I do consider him part of the core, will be interesting to see how everything unforlds.
  21. You don't even have any arguments why are you even here? You want somebody to talk to?
  22. The top 15 RW goal scoring also includes guys like Toffoli and Brendan Gallagher ahead of him, do you consider these guys top line players as well? Maybe in Montreal. This deadline as it will show who management thinks is a core player, I have a feeling Brock will be the odd man out.
