      I was all for keeping Virtanen but him electing to go to arbitration might reward him too steep a contract so I'm more game for moving him now.

    If there are no playoffs this year this should be treated as a lost season. If so we should use the lottery structure they had for the 2005 draft(the Crosby draft) which of course was a lost season due to the lockout. Here were the rules for the 2005 draft as per Wikipedia:

     

     Teams were weighted based on playoff appearances in the last three completed seasons (2001-02, 02-03 and 03-04), and first overall picks in the last four drafts (2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004). Three lottery balls each were assigned to teams which had not qualified for any of those playoffs and received no first overall picks in that period. Teams which had one playoff appearance or first overall pick in those years were given two lottery balls. All other teams received one lottery ball.[

    I feel this is only fair and would make us one of the teams with the three balls giving us a realistic shot at one of Lafreniere, Byfield, Drysdale, Raymond, Holtz, Rossi or Stutzle. For our team I personally like Raymond the most as he's right-handed and would really complement EP40 nicely.

      My guess is they'll treat it similar to as if the season ended after 82.  Obviously they'll be some adjustments, but they'll be minor.

      The problem with this scenario is it wasn't a lost season.  They did play 3/4 of the games.  It's a large enough sample size to see the trajectory each team was on.

      I guess they could do a points-per-game system where your playoff spot is based on your points-per-game

    Everyone needs to stop calling Jesse Puljujarvi "POOL PARTY" it's f*****n obnoxious and that's not how you pronounce his name. 

     

    What if everyone started calling Erik Gudbranson Erik Gutt-punch-son. That'd be pretty obnoxious, don't you think?

      Ya, I'm with @Green Building, I like "Pool Farty" way better than "Pool Party".

       

      He could have been a "Pool Party" if he was a Canuck, because lets face it - pool party's are pretty awesome.

      But he's a Coiler, and coilers make for a Farty Pool, hence - Pool Farty.

       

      The more you think about it, the more it makes sense. So just give yourself a minute, then thank @Green Demon(wtf, not Green Demon, stupid phone)

      And Gut-punch-son is an awesome name. Sexxxxxymoris, good one dude. Solid

    Really happy with the possibility of landing Cody Glass from the Portland Winterhawks. I know stats don't say everything, but I looked at a comparison between him and Ryan Johansen in junior. Glass outscored Johansen in every category in the comparison. Here's the stats comparison sheet.     It is very likely that Glass will be available when we pick at No. 5 and if he is, he's probably our future top line centre

    I remember how everyone was saying Draisatl was a bust after his first rookie season tenure with the Oilers didn't go so well. I told them to be patient, and if they were patient enough they'd have a solid first line centre. Well, it's been a few years now and it looks like Draisatl is starting to blossom. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Canucks fans need to preach and practice that kind of patience with their young players, particularly Virtanen. Wait for him to blossom because I know he will.

      It wasn't even just on CDC, people on HFboards were saying that Draisatl had no trade value. People are saying the same thing about Virtanen.  See what I'm getting at? Stay patient and Virtanen will be the player we need. Particularly if we put him on the Sedin line next year to improve his hockey sense, sort of like when we put Ryan Kesler on Sundin's wing.
