  1. Excited to get my first glimpse of some of this year's draftees, especially Alriksson and Brzustewicz who have been having promising pre-seasons. Also first look at Tolopilo, he had a great SHL season last year and mentioned coming to train with Clark as a big reason for signing here.
  2. He's only half a year older than Podkolzin (they're both still 22) and just put up 38P in 66 games in his first AHL season for 0.57 P/G. Compared to Podz 18P in 28 games for 0.64 P/GP I'd say he has a pretty decent chance of getting NHL games as soon as this year.
  3. Absolute W by the social media department putting only 13 of the 14 previous captains in the announcement photo...
  4. I applaud your efforts in sharing all these articles this week but the formatting is murder on the eyes - anyone else? Can you provide a link as well?
  5. Naslund - Pettersson - Bertuzzi (how fun would it be to see an upgraded WCE?) Hamhuis - Bieksa (nuff said) R. Miller (Vezina caliber in his prime)
  6. I think he can be very effective in limited minutes now that we have Hronek to take 20+ hard minutes of ice from Myers. Paired with someone like Soucy they could be an effective and punishing (albeit expensive) 3rd pairing.
  7. He's looking like a beauty. Great to see him physically imposing himself out there.
  8. Hockey specific training doesn't just rely on these heavy weighted Olympic lifts - sure they are a part of their training but you can see most of these exercises focus on single leg speed, agility, and stopping power. Kuz's game relies heavily on his quick turning and deceptive edge work so it's great to see him trying to add some explosiveness there.

  10. Depends on how new your cheap skates are - brand new ones can be significantly lighter, more comfortable, offer better ankle support when properly baked and molded to your feet. I upgraded recently and found a noticeable difference in speed and agility. Think about how often you'll use them - it sounds like you are going 20+ times a year, so if it upgrades the quality of your skating time then it's probably worth at least a couple hundred bucks. Make sure you try a few different brands on if you do choose to upgrade, and from experience you will always have a better time going to a specialized shop like Cyclone Taylors rather than Sportchek if you need sales advice. If you know what you want and buy from Sportchek, take it to Cyclone and let them sharpen and bake it for you
  11. Yeah he looked huge compared to all the rest of the kids in the grouse grind video (I know he's 23)
  12. Whoops, I forgot Lekkermaki was headed to Orebro next year. The rest still stands.
  13. He's a teammate of Lekkermaki, I think we'll see him play at least one more year in Sweden but realistically I wouldn't expect him to play any CHL games. I imagine they'll let him cook overseas and sign his ELC in 2-3 years, barring any monumental steps this coming season
  14. I was thinking the same thing but maybe signing Talapila (Tolopilo?) was his goalie for the year
  15. Calgary going for the all name team with Aydar Suniev, Yegor Yegorov, and Sharangovic Maybe Yegorov and Sharangovic can have a Yegor-off
  16. Did JV start the war in Russia while he was over there too? /s
  17. I bought the AHL tv playoff package, it was $30 USD which came out to $42ish CAD. The interface is surprisingly friendly. The audio is the radio feed and the video is the jumbotron feed so it's kinda funny (annoying) to see a player's picture after a goal is scored... During play lmao. But all that aside I watched the first two Abby games and it was good enough value. You get all the other playoff games too.
  18. Calgary also gets 2 guaranteed games at home, I imagine playoff home game revenue is a huge deal for AHL teams. Hoping the Canucks can continue where they left off in their mini series at the end of the regular season, I didn't have the chance during round one but will definitely try and make a round 2 game in Abby!
  19. He's consistently been played at 3LW with some time at 2LW while Hoglander was out, I imagine he'll get playoff icetime.
