[Signing] Oilers sign Evander Kane
Chronic.Canuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I love it. They'll lose every other game 7-4. Four point nights for McDrai of course. -

Price is very fair considering the term but hard not to think the last couple years will be LTIR or at least an anchor. -
Canucks release 2022-23 regular season schedule
Chronic.Canuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
This actually looks like the most favourable Canucks schedule in recent memory. Our three longest road trips are 5 games, 7-8 days each. 11 back to backs but two are LA/Anaheim, one is Seattle/home, one is Ottawa/Montreal, and one is NYR/NYI. JR flexing his influence with the league for a better schedule for us considering the mileage? -

2014 - Forsling (5th) is an NHLer 2015 - Gaudette (5th) borderline NHLer 2016 - no late round hits but Lockwood (3rd) 2017 - Rathbone (4th) 2018 - miss 2019 - Silovs (6th) and McDonough (7th) 2020 - Persson (7th) looks promising Pretty much one late round hit per year on average. If you're hitting on your high picks, getting 1-2 players from each draft year is pretty much league average.

Sedins pretty much as skill coaches? Those guys are pretty good at hockey. Petey gonna blow up next season. -
[Report] Darnell Nurse suspended 1 game
Chronic.Canuck replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Any Oilers fans nursing game 7 hopes should quiet down after this... -
One is a legit middle six NHLer and the other is a barely 19 year old AHL rookie. I'm sure he understands.

Demko is obviously exhausted out there. Tough to win a game against a team on a roll like Minni with Pearson-Horvat-Hoglander missing. Congrats Petey on the 30th goal though! -

That actually came after the chant started. Not sure exactly who in the Larscheiders section it was but it started in 325/326. -

Holy cow what a win... There's gonna be a huge Larscheider section in the lower bowl tomorrow, the crowd will be into it again. Let's keep the streak alive! -
That would be great but we do still need 4 goalies and having a young cost controlled plan of succession for our backups will save us money in free agency that we can spend elsewhere. Currently our depth chart next year barring any signings looks like: Demko Martin DiPietro Silovs Koskenvuo I think all of these guys are in the right position for growth right now. Martin gets to prove he's NHL caliber, DiPietro gets a chance at a full season as AHL starter, Silovs comes back up from the ECHL and Koskenvuo continues to develop overseas for another year.
-
Definitely the latter will be best for him. This year it was good to have Martin seize the reigns in Abbotsford so MDP could ease back into the pro game after not playing much the last year and a half. Give him a year of full time AHL duties as the starter and he should be ready for some NHL time the year after. Hopefully he continues to improve and by the time Martin's contract expires he's proved he's ready for backup duties for the back half of Demko's contract.

Agreed, he is a LHD though.
