  1. Allvin's first priority this summer is to get Miller signed to a good contract for both sides. For the Canucks, the first number can't be 9 and the length can't exceed 6 years. If that fails, then we look for a trade in the offseason or TDL. If Miller is re-signed, I can see us trading either Boeser or Garland. If Miller is not re-signed, then we should keep both Boeser and Garland. Pearson-EP-Boeser Podz-Horvat-Garland Dickinson-3C-Hogs Highmore-Lammikko-Lockwood Hughes-Schenn OEL-RD Dermott-Myers Get a top 4RD prospect back via Miller trade and find a 3C in the UFA market. Edit: If Rathbone is ready to make the team, then we should look into trading Myers to clear some cap space. Hughes-Schenn OEL-RD Rathbone-Dermott If we trade Miller, it would likely be a year of retool. Although, depending on Petey's performance and with Podz and Hogs improving, we could challenge for the playoffs depending on who we get as #4RD and 3C.

  3. The answer is no. https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/team-game-records/vancouver-canucks-players-nhl-game-records.html He had a 5 point game but not 5 assist game.
  4. Their first line of Pavelski-Hintz-Robertson has been a revelation. Didn't think they would be so productive. With how good that first line has been, the chance of them slipping is low. But they have to play a lot of games so who knows? I think LA will fall and Vegas will overtake them. My money is on Vegas and Dallas making the playoffs. But I hope we make it. We will need something like 7-0-1 or 6-1-1 at the minimum.
  5. We have deficiencies but we are not a crappy team as demonstrated by our record since Bruce took over. We need a retool but no need to scorch the whole team down and rebuild.
  6. Given Markstrom's workload here, he is much more likely to be injured. He definitely will not be putting up the numbers that he is putting up in Calgary for us. Same with Tanev. Tanev in Vancouver would have already been injured given the workload and pressure that he has to deal with on a nightly basis. We need more durable player, like Schenn although Scheen is probably not a long term solution. Calgary can rotate guys and they possess the puck more than not, which makes things easier for Marky and Tanev. Demko is younger and has been a workhorse for us. That was the right call to go with Demko. It would have been nice to recoup assets by trading Marky. I wish we did something like a sign and trade with Calgary. Sign Marky to 8 year deal at 5 mil per season and trade him for a 2nd round pick and a prospect or something like that.
  7. Vegas gave up two quality NHL players in Krebs and Tuch whose combined cap is less than half of Eichel's. Depth rules in the NHL. I'm glad Vegas decided to go for high cap hit players instead of building on depth.
  8. I'm so glad they let Fleury go. Fleury always plays well against us.
  9. NHL is a joke of a league. At this point, all teams should aim to sign 25-26 players, 15F8D2G or 14F8D3G and run a rotation. As long as they are only 10% over the cap, they should be fine, no? Place some players on LTIR to start the season to be cap compliant. Then, as the season progresses and you want to give certain players rest, you put them on LTIR and deactivate some of the other players off the LTIR to fill the vacated positions. If you can put players on LTIR couple hours before the game, I mean if it's that easy, then this system will work. Well, until the Canucks try it. Then, it's no fun anymore and the league will find a way to levy cap penalty on us.
  10. lol Todd (or is it Rod), the kid with Vegas written on it, he looks like Eichel.
  11. Tampa was different. They couldn't activate Kucherov until the season ended, no? They circumvented the cap but at least they didn't pull it off during the regular season.
  12. Last time I checked, they only had 5 mil in cap space. Stone gets paid 9.5 mil. That means 4.5 mil of salary had to go on the LTIR to activate Stone. So some players whose injuries weren't seriously enough to go on the LTIR have been put on the LTIR today? Is it that easy to be placed on the LTIR? They go on LTIR as long as the team and the player claims that he is hurt? Seems very shady to me.
  13. How the hell did Vegas circumvent the cap this time? Mark Stone activated off the LTIR??? He wasn't very good anyways but $hit, that's some blatant cap circumvention right there.
  14. How do you know he has a house? Agree on OEL. OEL is nothing like LE. OEL's role changed from his days in Arizona. Now he stays back and covers for Myers rather than going on the offensive. On occasions when he does go on the offensive, he has proven that he can put up the points. I think getting a defensive minded RHD partner for OEL is the best usage of the player. OEL-defensive RHD QH-Schenn Dermott-Myers
  15. Still boils my blood watching this. We were so good -- beating the Penguins 6-2? If we had kept Mitchell for 2011 playoff run and for 2012 playoffs, we win at least one cup.
  16. Goal scoring has been fine in the last 30 games or so: #9 in the league. https://www.nhl.com/stats/teams?reportType=game&dateFrom=2022-01-28&dateTo=2022-04-10&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=goalsForPerGame&page=0&pageSize=50 Also, #9 in the league in GA in the last 30 games. The team has been playing like a top 10 team in the league since Boudreau took over, even without the Bruce bump although it has been somewhat inconsistent at times. The argument that we have goal scoring problem without Horvat and Miller can be applied to just about any team in the league except for the top 4-6 teams in the league. Take McDavid and Draisaitl's goals and points out and see Edmonton ends up.
  17. Let's not kid ourselves. 5.5% is still being generous. I'm just gonna enjoy the games. No expectation on playoffs. Just wanna watch Podz continue to build on his game. EP getting back in form and hope to see him put up a few more of those multi point games and hopefully get to 30 goals. Looking forward to Hughes beating Lidster's record. Watching Demko continuing to make some out of this world saves... I'm even looking forward to Chiasson playing -- how his play is earning the respect of his teammates and fans. If I have to predict, I'm predicting a loss to Vegas on Tuesday. I think that it will go to the OT or SO but maybe that's a wishful thinking. As it turns out, this team plays best when they play freely without expectation. I think the players know there's a lot riding on that game and that may work against us.
  18. I wouldn't count the 2 points against the Vegas as anything but a given. They are going to come in to Vancouver and give it all they got, knowing that they can catch LA with a win. And, Pacioretty is back. On the other hand, we are short handed. Pearson's status remains uncertain and I think he is the perfect glue guy between Miller and Petey. I'd be little more hopeful if he is back in the line up. Hughes needs to do a lot better job of puck management than he did against the Sharks or Vegas will eat him up on the turnovers. And of course, there is one way we can win it despite all our shortcomings: Demko.
  19. Bone is in the AHL playing big minutes, let him develop there full time. Hughes-Schenn OEL-Burroughs Dermott-Myers Free OEL from Myers and we have two pairings that can generate offence.
  20. Chiasson has been great of late but the other two guys are a rookie and a sophomore. If Podz and Hogs are putting up those numbers in their 8th seasons, you might have a point. I think Chiasson is a good depth scoring option. We can't pencil him in our top 6 for 82 games but there will be stretches of games where due to injury or other line up issues, a guy like him needs to be slotted in on top 6. Providing 10 goals in those stretches for games while not being a defensive liability is all that we can ask from a player that gets paid league minimum.
  21. And Miller won what exactly? Hansen played his role to perfection and worked his a$$ off every shift. I wouldn't laugh him off. Miller earned the right to ask for a big contract and he should get one. I hope the team re-signs him but the length doesn't exceed 5 years (6 at most) and at 9 mil or less.
  22. Why was the whole team bad all of a sudden? I feel like Bruce is overthinking things again, messing with the winning line up.
