Thatch is the #1 star but gotta give credit to the defence tonight. They played a tighter game. They reduced the turnovers. And they played tough against the Vegas forward. They blocked the shots and protected the paint. Pleasantly surprised that this young team is capable of pulling off a win like this.

Stone was had for Brannstrom, Oscar Lindberg, and a 2nd. Brannstrom is an elite PMD. Could turn into Karlsson? Good trade for Vegas since Stone is probably the best 2 way winger in the NHL. Ottawa had no choice but to trade him with Stone's contract expiring. I have not watch Brannstrom play so can't comment on him much. Pacioretty was had for Suzuki, Tatar, and 2nd rounder. Suzuki performed really well in the playoffs. He is a scoring winger. Tatar found a role in Montreal. I'd say this was a fair deal for both sides. Pacioretty's production was in decline in Montreal. Obviously, Vegas did not lose any of the deals. They did what any contending team would do: trade future to win now. With William Karlsson between Stone and Pacioretty, they have an elite first line that plays fast, can score, and forecheck against anybody.

Yeah but the difference is that their core is older and we are younger, unlike last time (our core was older compared to Chicago's core). The reason why we are all so excited about Petey and Hughes is that they are still few years away from their prime years but are already playing like a top 10-15 player in their respective positions. I'm not too worried about Vegas.

If we can sign EP and Hughes to reasonable contracts, the window will remain open for many years. Juolevi playing for Canucks is finally on the horizon. I wouldn't be surprised if our LD is Hughes-Edler-Juolevi starting next season. We would need to infuse the bottom 6/middle 6 with speed and skill to compliment Virtanen, Gaudette, Motte, and MacEwen. We have many options coming up in Hoglander, Lind, Podkolzin, Lockwood, etc. RD needs bit more improvement I think. We have a promising yet unknown player in Rathbone. If he works out, then re-signing Tanev might be good enough. Anyhow, too early to be thinking about the future. I think we are going to win tomorrow.

If you need a forward, yes. If you need a defenceman, picking Heiskanen #1 would also make sense. Canucks needed both. Dallas preferred a defenceman that can play soon as they already had Benn and Seguin up front. I hate admitting a player from another team is as good as ours. But Miro is really impressing me in this playoffs. The kid is driving play in so many plays. I might be mistaken but I think he is on Dallas's #2 PP unit (Klingberg is on #1 PP). He's doing all this damage without #1 PP minutes... The guy is cool, calm, and collected just like EP. If this guy turns out to be the best European born-trained defenceman since Lidstrom when his career is done, I won't be surprised. In a re-draft, I still pick Petey. But I won't hold it against anyone if they pick Miro.

I like Toffoli on 5-on-4 PP as it gives more options. But on 5-on-3, I would have liked to see Boeser on the opposite side to EP. He proved that his one timer is still a threat against the Blues.

That checker is in his prime, beast mode Mark Stone. I won't hold it against QH if he doesn't figure it out by the end of the series. Honestly, QH needs to play like Duncan Keith during Chicago's cup runs for us to get by Vegas. Quinn Hughes is a 20 year old and a rookie, he will get there. He will get there eventually but I'm not sure if he will be able to do it this series. I'd love to be proven wrong, QH and EP have proven me wrong so many times so I won't be surprised if they come out as completely different players tonight compared to game 3. Actually, I sincerely hope they come out and prove me wrong and beat Vegas convincingly tonight. lol but none of this matters! Key to winning is Roussel.

It just goes to show that the formula that wins you games in the regular seasons doesn't really work in the playoffs. I remember TSN "experts" (including Ray Ferraro, who I actually don't mind) was writing Dallas off against Calgary. "Dallas just doesn't score enough." Well, they are scoring aplenty in the playoffs, a lot of greasy goals. This series proved that Dallas made the right pick with #3 overall in 2017: Miro Heiskenen > Cale Makar in my opinion. My opinion is probably going to be unpopular but I think Heiskenen and Petey are on par.

Playoff Nylander isn't much better than Boeser. Regular season Nylander is (arguably) bit better but only marginally. Nylander 6G-13P in 13 games. 22G-61P in 81 games. 20G-61P in 82 games. 7G-27P in 54 games. 31G-59P int 68 games. Boeser 4G-5P in 9 games. 29G-55P in 62 games. 25G-56P in 69 games. 16G-45P in 57 games. And Boeser never played a full season.

You mean a trade that makes sense for Toronto. This trade doesn't make sense for Vancouver nor Minnesota. Boeser for Nylander doesn't improve our team. Minnesota is losing a top 3D that doesn't shy away from physical play in Dumba for Nylander, who is good but not going to drive a team's offence on his own. Toronto gets a RHD that is under a good cap and trades Nylander, who they aren't going to be able to afford anyways. How convenient for Toronto.

Vegas played a lot more conservative game, which can be seen from their lower shots on net but in doing so, eliminated their defensive weakness. It's only getting tougher for the Canucks. They'll have to fight for every inch of the ice. And it's not looking great with Hughes struggling with the puck so much.

Six-million dollar man is too slow for this series. His job is to make sure nothing interesting happens on the ice (against the Canucks), but Vegas plays too fast for him to do his job. But I did notice that Vegas has slowed their own pace down. I guess they learned their lesson from game 2. Maybe you are right, maybe Eriksson has a job to do in game 4.

Linden was exactly that, complete package. Linden is still the best in my opinion. Horvat is the first captain that is most similar to Linden since Linden. I think Linden was a better player overall when you compare the early parts of their careers but Bo is still on the upward trajectory and he has been improving his game every year so Bo might become the better player in the end if he keeps up his current work rate. We will have to wait until Horvat's career finishes. I think if Bo can stay healthy (he has been durable thus far), maintain or increase his offensive production a bit, and bring a cup home then Horvat could overtake Linden as the the best captain of this franchise.

Canucks lined up for 5 games in 7 nights - what’s the goalie scenario?
khay replied to EP40.'s topic in Canucks Talk
First of all, who the f*ck came up with such horrendous schedule? The league says it supports the players' boycott of the games, only to throw them into grueling 5 games in 7 nights? That seems like a payback for boycotting Thursday and Friday's games. Although it seems like a smart idea to give Demko the 2nd game of the first back-to-back, I'd just run with Marky in all of the games. At this point, we rise and fall with Marky.- 60 replies

$hit you mean that was intentional? How crazy is this kid...

Never seen Edler that excited before! He genuinely looks excited there after Peter (Forsberg) Petey scored.
