  1. So he counted his chickens before they hatched and signed players and traded picks while while still keeping us at the bottom of the standings He had horrible insight in team building that we may not recover from for years
  2. Exactly the Nurse incident was 2 willing fighters and not even close to what Pietrangelo did If that had been done on EP people would be saying suspend rest of series to send a serious message that was intent to hurt and not even a hockey play
  3. Canucks at bottom of league a decade, and in 50 plus years Never get a 1st o/a Canucks always drop or stay even at the draft, not moving up Chicago drops after their stars end and right away get 1st o/a The law of averages say all these can't be
  4. At 5-1 what is the point of playing your stars and risking injury ? They did their part to win, now let the role players get more involved and engaged and ready for game 3 The team unity is better when all have a bigger hand in a win as well
  5. Yes and on the advice of his scouts, I believe Yzerman would have taken him as well , as he has said before you always take the BPA and Zadina was ranked high TSN’s final rankings had Tkachuk at No. 3 and Zadina at No. 4 While Zadina was still very much a consensus top-five pick, relative to the other prospects, five of 10 scouts surveyed by TSN ranked him outside their top five. Five scouts had him in the top five, including three of them at No. 3, but he had three 6’s, a 7 and a 9 as well. That’s a far cry from the mid-season polling, when all of Zadina’s marks came in between 2 and 4. “I don’t think Zadina necessarily did anything negative as much as so many others stepped up their game,” a scout said. Regarding Hughes 8. Quinn Hughes. The University of Michigan American freshman defenceman has a wow factor to his game. He is the first of a plethora of smart, skilled and dynamic sub-6 foot offensive blueliners in this draft. He plays a go-go-go offensive game, at times more like a rover than a defenceman. He’s fearless, not afraid to make high-risk, high-reward but also high-danger plays. Critics would say he’s not defensively sound or aware; boosters would say he doesn’t need to play much D because the puck is always on his stick. Also a late 1999 birthdate, Hughes played well for Team USA at the senior men’s World Championship. Just goes to show how nothing is guaranteed and luck was on our side, especially when we needed to draft a Dman
  6. I think if they don't get a fair return for him before the season starts that they keep him and hopefully that he shows up ready to play with his head in the game and focused to be his best as he is saying he will, BUT, I still don't think he would still be the guy who plays the walls and hits like RT would like a winger to play, so he would be put on a line to excel and increase his trade return at some point next year
  7. I guess that is where the problem started Bo who was a captain was always trained to be aware of words We were out of playoffs, had he shown some class and kept Vancouver and its fans who helped supporting make him millions, both the fans and him could have been happy he was gone and got that money somewhere else other than here
  8. The one real quote, and the 2 questions didn't even ask to compare NY to Vancouver “It’s been unbelievable,” Horvat said, asked about the Islanders’ playoff push and the fans at UBS Arena. Then came the hammer. “It’s a lot better than Vancouver. I’ll tell you that for free.” The NY fans will make his life miserable there in short time (and I'll tell you that for free) Had you kept your mouth shut, you'd have had more support Now you have one city glad you are gone with a new culture coming and one wishing you were gone for many more years Good thing you witnessed how LE handled it, to now experience it for yourself Good results leading the Isles Enjoy your summer Bo
  9. Remember when Tom Gaglardi fought to take ownership of the team?
  10. As mentioned before, with a NMC, you cannot even place on waivers without players permission
  11. I myself will never cheer for Boston That town has won titles in all sports and I hate the Bruins (and what they get away with) I will just hope for entertaining hockey without stupid calls swinging momentum I want to see hard hitting action hockey (with only blatant calls that could have prevented a goal being scored ) and not love taps behind the play not affecting the game If I "pull" for any team, it would be Winnipeg, after losing their team and fighting to get one back Other than that, it seems odd cheering for another team to me
  12. Lol Mind boggling you think it was a good call especially in a playoff game He touched his foot Meanwhile guys get crosschecked to the ice after scoring a goal and no call That was a gutless pansy call in the playoffs especially, Good for you if they call crap like that all series too me that is only a call in pee wee hockey (maybe)
  13. Been lame penalties on Oilers, what happened to tough hitting allowed?. The 2 previous penalties on Oilers were taps (embarrassing especially in Playoffs)
  14. That is the problem though Making $2.65 million over that, you are hurting the team having another quality dman and his lack of speed can't make up for his lack of commitment (and with the wingers we have make him redundant) To me BB just seems satisfied to be in the NHL making big bucks ,without big commitment, he hasn't worked on improving his game since arriving years ago He isn't a power forward that people always made for JV and will take longer Having said that, if he really enjoys EP and the team, then i am sure the new leaders have told him, stay focused on training and come back strong after the summer There is a good chance he finally has a good summer of training, but if no improvement that is what he will always be, still a good player, but not what the team needs to move forward, but now we may not get to see how he comes back, depending on which of their asset wingers they decide to part with to strengthen another area of greater concern
  15. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when his peers who play against him say he is, it is hard to argue (even players want to give it to someone else after years of the same player getting it) Give him a top defenceman (Makar) making passes etc and a goalie (Demko even) and it would be 80's Oilers again
  16. yes i believe you are right, if a player on a retirement contract with a nmc decided not to play with no commitment to get that buyout is not a good thing I think OEL will come back as a decent 2 and 3rd liner for the remaining years
  17. What i meant by that, is what we may see With locked contracts and no cap, we don't have a lot of flexibility Meyers is big, should we keep him?
  18. I understand the Leaf hate At real time i thought it was worse than it was Slowing it down, if Bunting was a Canuck we'd be up in arms though Bunting took a straight line to the net for the rebound, didn't skate over towards Cernak In fact it was Cernak who turned towards Bunting to take him out of play for the rebound Bunting is ahead of Cernak not even looking at him I don't care or am upset by the call either way, but that is my take after watching it undefined (sportsnet.ca)
  19. (Darn I meant to post this here, but got an alert of new post with OEL and by mistake posted there after reading) The Canucks own one of the leagues most expensive bluelines, while being at the bottom of quality blue lines I recall Aqua was upset at JB for having to pay newly signed Gagner $6.3 million to play in the minors for 2 years Doubtful he is happy to pay Meyers $5 Million to not play or to move Ekman-Larsson and his remaining four years of contract in this cap economy because it would cost the Canucks multiple first round picks, at a minimum, and that’s a price they just can’t "Bear" I believe Aqua is tired of paying multiple players top dollars to sit on the bench, or pay to play for other teams (or minors), giving away draft picks to get players and more pics shortly after just to get rid of them (was a disaster) like he let JB get away with and has told the new management, I know this mess is on me, but just fix it the best cheapest way you can I think Meyers will be let go after the $5 million paid and defence will look like this next year Hughes-New Addition Hirose-Hronek OEL-Bear Maybe OEL comes back better, on a 3rd line he is well overpaid ,but better suited for it to excel or be decent (but that is a result of this horrible trade we made) He only wanted 2 teams and we even gave him a NMC so he can't even be demoted to the farm if we wanted too ;(

  21. I don't think you will ever see 50/50, but on back to backs it should be (flailing those heavy pads on quick reactions from quick skaters and shots is not easy on the joints) But I am sure that the coach and GM don't want to risk losing their #1 goalie to injury I was surprised at the end of this season while eliminated they never let other goalies play (even to at least expose them to what they need to work on at a higher level)
  22. I believe the 94 team could beat the 2011 team (as anything and luck can change in the playoffs) But I believe a healthy 2011 presidents team beats the 94 team, without even considering players evolving as better athletes with better training The 1994 Canucks allowed a total of 276 goals. Those stats also correlate with the goaltending slide. They were 12th overall in the league with a penalty kill success rate of 79.8 percent. The 2011 Canucks allowed a total of 185 goals that year which contributed to Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider's William J. Jennings Trophy win. That year's Canuck team was also tied for 2nd in the league with a PK success rate of 85.5 percent. What made both teams good was the offensive production of their defensemen, with the edge to the 2011 team on defense The 2011 Canucks beat the 94 Rangers easily imo (What the 94 team couldn't do)
  23. Agree this team has been horribly run for 10 years Who wants to leave ? ( I like Obrien speaking out and passionate and thankful for a team and city that provided him a good life) Bo himself said he thought he was going to remain a Canuck (he wanted to stay) Sounds like he is butt hurt from Canucks keeping Miller over him , taking a shot at management is one thing but including fans who bought your jersey and supported you on your way to $8.5 million a year was uncalled for and the question wasn't even asked about the comparison between the 2 cities (He gave that freely) He is gone, it was the right choice and he wasn't the right player, at the right price and term, to move forward from 10 bad years
