  1. I went to this website. I opened up every single game on a tab, and ctrl+F "Ehlers" on every one of them and l kept a tally of every time Drouin appeared anywhere next to Ehlers's name. After going through every single Halifax Moosehead game, I can safely say that Drouin was a part of 52 of Ehlers's points. The kid had 104 points total so that'd mean that Drouin was a part of 50% of Ehlers's points. However, that doesn't mean that Ehlers didn't create any of those chances on his own. Plus, you could also say that Ehlers helped Drouin get 52 pts. Just though it'd be fun to share. Also if you guys want to see for yourself, it only took me 20 minutes to do. Edit: Btw I still want to draft Ehlers
  2. Well Schneider's contract WAS about to expire and was due for a raise, we were not going to have enough cap to carry both of them anyway. But man, imagine Rick Nash with the Sedins...
  3. I certainly hope you're right and that IS the worst case scenario... I'd be happy if he consistently puts up 60 pts. a season in his prime while playing a 200 ft. game though. I do realize that there was the draft was coming up, the change in the CBA, goalie drama, and all those other extrinsic factors that were taken into account as to why Gillis was forced to settle for just a 1st round pick. However, do you think we could've still managed to squeeze a little more out of New Jersey? Like another prospect, or another pick or so? I still feel robbed because Schneider is going to be New Jersey's starter for their new era, while we're still waiting for Horvat whom may or may not pan out. I know this has been said before but man did Gillis pull the trigger on the trade late...
  4. In this case, the Horvat Schneider trade is a loss on our part. Not hating on Horvat because I'm excited to see how good he could become but I just feel like we didn't get enough for Schneider
  5. They wrote the article based on actual quotes off of the interview that I linked in my previous post with GM Tim Murray. I hope Draisaitl falls to us too, but it just seems to me that both Buffalo AND Edmonton would take a chance on the kid with their own respective picks.
  6. Although everybody seems to think that Drasaitl will fall out of the top five, I think he might get selected 2nd or 3rd. Tim Murray GM of the Buffalo Sabres seems thinks Draisaitl had the best game out of the top 5 players he's watched play. He also doesn't seem to be very high on Ekblad, saying that he's not a "franchise player." So Ekblad dropping to the Oilers is a possibility if Florida decides to pass on Ekblad. Here's the link to the article: http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2014/04/13/buffalo-sabres-gm-tim-murray-not-sure-if-aaron-ekblad-is-a-franchise-player/ and here's the link to the radio interview: http://www.wgr550.com/Sabres-New-GM-Tim-Murray-Joins-WGR/18150550
  7. Where is he projected to go? Would we need tp trade up? What's your assessment on Fiala? Strenghts? Weaknesses?
  8. A developed Shinkaruk AND Ehlers? Aw man, that's going to get everybody standing up in Roger's Arena.
  9. No, you're right, being picked at 6th really has nothing to do with how Jake Virtanen turns out (assuming that we do pick him)I wasn't trying to use it as a point to discredit you, just thought it was something funny to bring up. You make fair points, However, Brett Connolly is 6'2 210lb. and Jake Virtanen is 6'1 209 so yes they're about the same size. Don't get me wrong you like Jake Virtanen and that's fine. I actually like Jake Virtanen too but I'm just worried that he's not going to be as good as everybody thinks and it'll be a waste of a sixth if/when other player selected after him pans out. I could probably stand here and tell you that I watch Jake play all the time, but I have no proof. So take it from the scouts, it's their job to watch CHL players play all the time and while his athletic ability is incredibly enticing, most of them agree that he could probably dish the puck to some of his teammates a little more. Which shows that his on-ice vision is something that needs to be improved. But if we select him and proves me wrong, then I'd be as happy as the rest of you. Great, then why not take a chance on a player like Kapanen, Nylandr, or even Ehlers? If we're going to bake Virtanen in the minors for many years before he develops, why not pick Kapanen or Nylander who are at most only a couple inches shorter than him? Let them gain more weight and they'll be "NHL size." I honestly think that our prospect pool could use a little more elite level skill.
  10. The reason people are afraid to take him at 6th is because he lacks the hockey IQ to be taken so early in the draft. Most of his goals come off of rushes and bulldozing through smaller players which may not translate well at the NHL level. I honestly see him being a Brett Connolly kind of player, fast power forward but might not make it into the NHL until after years in the minors or at all. Uncannily, Brett Connolly was also taken 6th overall. Which is where Virtanen would be drafted at if we used our pick on him. But if we were to pick a power forward I'd go with Nick Ritchie since he's already 6'3 236 lbs. Hopefully a top five player drops, if not I'd go after Kasperi Kapanen. Fast, sweet hands, two way winger with decent size. Not your stereotypical small, soft, and skilled European.
  11. If it was up to me I'd give up next year's pick. I don't know if anyone else remember, but NYI actually looked like they could be a wild card for the playoffs before Tavares went down in the Olympics. If they could land or sign a couple big name players in the offseason to play with JT when he comes back. Then I can see NYI drafting much later next year opposed to this year's draft. Even having JT back would get them drafting around the teens.
  12. Brendan Lemieux or Cornel if we get Ritchie with our first. Fabbri would be great too!
  13. Kesler for Etem and 2 first round picks sounds pretty good to me
  14. Hmmm.. you're right, swap Couturier for another second? So then: Simmonds, Schenn, Morin, 1st, and two 2nds? Or swap out the 2nd rounders for Hagg and a 3rd?
  15. If both are going to Philly then... To Philly: Kes + Edler To Vancouver: Schenn, Courturier, Morin, Simmonds, 1st and 2nd
  16. 9-0 Nux Booth with 7 goals being a hometown kid in Detroit Burrows with 2 and Lack with the
  17. Would be cool to see Booth back in the lineup as well as the Amex back together. Higgins-Kesler-Booth
  18. http://www.nhl.com/i...s.htm?id=688262 Hopefully Horvat gets the C now?
  19. So we can expect Miles Liberati to be captain this coming season then eh?
