This upcoming paragraph will sound sketchy as heck, but read the article link I posted at the end to verify it.
If you are American and were one of the people whose information was compromised by the Equifax hack, you are eligible to choose between either $125 or free credit monitoring for up to a decade.
The details and link are in the NBC News article. I'm not going to re-post the settlement link here because your money is none of my business. You read the article and make your own choice.
As an aside, the filthy evil Canadians whose information was also hacked will get nada, zero, zilch, bupkis. Blame Ottawa and PM Hair Gel.

It's always been weird to me on how Canadian consumers continually get screwed over. There's a reason why the biggest mall in Buffalo is frequented by as many Canadians as Americans especially during the holidays and during sales.
Do you guys also get screwed by online places like Amazon? I've never bothered to browse the Canadian version.

I use Amazon, never been screwed by them. As long as you don't buy non-prime Chinese knockoff stuff.
It used to be a lot better when the Canadian dollar was around the same as the American dollar, almost everybody I know has gone down to Bellingham or Port Angeles in Washington state to shop at least once or twice before. Now the Canadian dollar is weak, compared to USD, and now there is no difference. The exchange rate is so unbalanced, there's no point in shopping in the US anymore. That really sucks.
I'm guessing supply and demand plays a part, being there are more consumers in the USA than Canada, include the strong USD, thus lower prices.

Thank God I wasn't on CDC back in 2007. The day that the CDN closed higher than the USD, I would have been mercilessly griefed by everyone who was on this forum back then.

There's a lot more to it than that. I actually used to know the biggest reasons why. I looked into it out of curiosity a long time ago because of all of the Canadian shoppers we get in Buffalo. Of course the amount of competition is the biggest one, but that's not the only reason. I'd have to do a Google search to refresh my memory, but I'm actually too lazy to bother with it today.
I also know that our return policies are much more liberal than those in Canada. I read about that before last year's Super Bowl when there was an article on how many people buy and return high end television sets during Super Bowl weekend. It p*ssed me off when I read it because that's basically stealing by way of fraud as far as I'm concerned.
