  1. Not sure about that, but it's safe to say it would last much longer than the 13 seconds that Aldo lasted. Aldo wobbled Holloway shortly after the fight began, had that been McGregor, Holloway may have eaten the canvas. Holloway's Achilles heel is that he needs at least a round to get the timing of his opponent down. McGregor's strength is that the first 2 rounds of his fights are his best. If Holloway can survive McGregor's initial 10 minute onslaught and simultaneously clock the timing of McGregor's punches, he would definitely have the advantage over the final 15 minutes where McGregor doesn't do anywhere near as well. Especially at 145. I would absolutely love to see that fight!

@Salmonberries outside of how you FEEL about this, and what your preconceptions are, what can you say that would categorically define this as a cruel action?

If we're comparing apples to apples, this is no different from a tiger taking down a deer in the plains of India, the only thing that's changed is the environment, and that the aspects of certain things are controlled by people instead of the laws of nature.

Just because the environment changes, does that really necessitate that the rules of engagement or feeding practices should also change?

Changing the method of feeding a wild animal from what it's used to, to what we determine is more rational and forgiving for our conscience is not the same thing as what is the right thing to do.

@VanGnomeIf it were up to me, for-profit zoos wouldn't exist.  But yes, I am against taking a domesticated donkey that was also another attraction at the zoo and driving it over to the wild tiger's den and feeding it live to the tigers.  In my opinion, it's unnecessary.  In your opinion, it's fine.

Most of those tigers would never survive well in the wilds of Asia at this point so in this case the argument of rehabilitation is irrelevant.  The investors know this and they want to sell them off to recoup some of their continuing costs, but they aren't even allowed to move them by court order.

@VanGnome I don't think I'd care to witness a live donkey being fed to a tiger on a family outing at the zoo.

But maybe that is just me.

  2. I don't disagree, but my opinion is null and void since I'm not a Canadian citizen subject to it's taxes.
  3. You get free bees? I want free bees! Are they honey bees?
  4. You're fine with it, but I'm sure there are many more people in Canada who like Alf, are not ok with a higher tax rate to fund the military.
  5. The US has the GDP to be able fund single payer healthcare if a properly funded Social Security-like system were to be enacted. It would need higher FICA-like payments out of people's income which would peeve off conservatives as well as the businesses who bribe the politicians in Washington with "campaign donations".
  6. I'm willing to bet that you'd be in the large minority being ok with a raise in your taxes.
  7. The only other sustainable way that I didn't list is the one that Trudeau will not do if he wants to stay in power. Raise taxes. They're hinting at a 20-year plan.
  8. The problem is that Canada will either have to make cuts elsewhere (like with healthcare) or issue and take on more national debt. Both things will be a tough sell to Canadian voters who have pacifistic tendencies. If it does go through, I really hope Canada does something more than what's already planned with it's navy.
  9. I'll believe it when I see it happen. Trump may not even be POTUS this time next year. WaPo didn't even get Canada's spending correct. They said just over 1% when in actuality it was just a touch under 1%. However she hit the nail on the head with this statement: It's why in the early 90's I used to have a "go-to" statement that I used to use on people when I went to the clubs on Lundy's Lane in Ontario. The Canadian acquaintances I used to have would get so mad when I would say, "ahhh Canada, the 51st state". I could get away with it because I was an athlete back then and so were most of my friends. Also, I know by state she means, "nation-state". I just get a kick out of telling that story on CDC every now and then.
  10. I watched a couple of YouTube videos of it and it looks like a fun game, but I'm not sure if I want to pay $30 to beta test it for them when they leave important parts of an online game sitting on the players computer. That tells me that they don't have the budget for the needed beefy servers quite yet. Maybe once they offload the client side critical parts to the host side I'll give it a shot.
  11. It looks like they are actually leaving some serious parts of the game completely client-side. Even Blizzard learned the hard way how silly that was in 1997 with the original Diablo. You can hex edit the living daylights out of the game right in the RAM to give yourself nearly unbeatable advantages. Not for me until they put their game mechanics completely on their own servers.
  12. I was rooting for Holloway. He'll be an active champion unlike Aldo.
  13. Your undisputed Featherweight Champion of the world......................
  14. Almost forgot UFC 212. Chick fight (co-main event) starting now.
  15. Don't forget to give gog.com a little love now and then too... New and old games cheap and without DRM.
  16. This video is over 2 years old and the games since then have gotten even better! Welcome to the PC Master Race!
  17. With only 75 company owned Radio Shacks left open in the world, they're auctioning off everything that was in their HQ.  There's some really weird stuff there like gold records, signed memorabilia from celebrities and politicians, decades old Tandy computers, shortwave radios, etc.

Some of that stuff could probably be resold at a profit on eBay.  The gold record is at only $50 after almost two days with just over a day to go in the auction.

Cool.  Didn't know either of those things.

I guess a lot of that stuff in that large auction is in mint condition since a good number of the items came out of basement vaults in their Texas HQ.

Yeah some of it is really cool - honestly I'd be quicker to purchase some of the vintage computing equipment before I got any of the gold records though. RIAA certification plaques don't hold a lot of value unless they're for pretty monumental releases. Vintage computer/tech collectors pay out the butt for something rare though. Especially if it's functional.

I know vintage Apple computers go for big bucks.  Not sure if Tandy will or not.  I remember going into Radio Shack in the 80's and messing around on their computers.  Their big claim to fame was something like being able to make 3 different sounds or something like that... lol

Of course that was before Ad Lib, Creative Labs, and Roland came out with their sound cards.

  18. Also, don't forget that UASF is coming and it could seriously affect Bitcoin especially if over 50% of the Bitcoin mining nodes picks it up by August. https://themerkle.com/how-does-the-uasf-work/
  19. By the time the media found out about it and was reporting on it, it was barely profitable to mine any longer unless you had access to very very cheap electricity and had 5 figures to p1ss away on a personal mining rig. Bitcoin had already been out for a few years. By then it was already turning into a buy/sell for profit model. I still think that with so few people owning the large majority of the Bitcoin market it will at some point cause a crash if/when they start selling large chunks off. How Bitcoin performs after that happens will be a huge factor in determining the future of cryptocurrency.
  20. I would crow too if I were you. I thought it was going to be dead and buried well before now. What kills me is that I remember clearly when Bitcoin first came out and it was easily mined. I remember thinking how stupid of an idea and that it will never catch on or be worth anything!!! Oops.... With a little foresight, I could have made some seriously easy money.
