  1. I'm not sure what would elevate Risto's game at this point in his career. Any team that trades for him would use him as a top pairing d-man so you couldn't reduce his minutes much to see if that would help. His defensive play is below average, but unless Tanev has recently become ambidextrous and is moved over, you couldn't pair them on the same line. That would leave Edler as the only guy left with enough of a reputation to help Risto with his 2-way game and Edler is already heading out the door away from Vancouver. So basically the answer is no... Bogo never lived up to his promise, but is a good locker-room player and leader. Not sure what he would bring to the Canucks besides some more physicality. Not to mention he is injury prone because of his style of play. No. Montour isn't going anywhere and Scandella is trending down.
  2. It wouldn't work from a Sabres perspective or from the perspective of anybody who follows NHL hockey.
  3. You may be right. I'd imagine JB is looking more for potential impact players at this point though. As the off-season moves on and the better players find new homes, GM's will start plumbing for the middle and lower depth guys.
  4. Pretty much what I said earlier. The Canucks can't afford Risto without making it hurt.
  5. I'd imagine that would only factor in if everything else is equal. Botterill and the Sabres need to worry more about overall wins right now and less about who will beat them in the playoffs. Right now the playoffs are a pipe dream for the Sabres.
  6. I'd imagine Botterill has multiple opening offers sitting on his desk right now.
  7. Cap is still fine. More dead weight drops off after this season. Botterill so far hasn't impressed anyone. He needs to make moves that result in wins this season so that he can keep his job.
  8. He's the reason why the Sabres are more than willing to part with Risto.
  9. With the demand so high, Virtanen will not even be close to enough to get a deal done.
  10. Ralph can hope for whoever he wants, but Botterill's seat is starting to warm up in Buffalo and if trading Risto for a player(s) will cool his seat down again, Ralph will have to make do with the players left over. Personally I'm surprised Risto lasted past last season's TDL.
  11. The Sabres are looking to reshape the roster. I can only think of 3 players not for sale for the right price. Only one of them being a d-man and we all know who that is. Ristolainen is just the only player that the Sabres have left that is worth a premier price.
  12. A player's worth is determined by how much demand there is for him. According to LeBrun, now that Trouba's been moved, plenty of teams are inquiring about Ristolainen including Tampa Bay. https://theathletic.com/1034335/2019/06/18/lebrun-notebook-after-some-time-to-reflect-lightning-gm-julien-brisebois-sees-no-reason-to-alter-course/ The Canucks aren't going to be able to afford Ristolainen without making it hurt.
  13. Both. Risto shoots towards the net and prays that it ends up on target or at least close enough for someone to redirect it in. The one thing coaches love about him is that he's a workhorse who eats minutes up like nothing. That and he's rarely injured. Think of Risto like a slightly better Tyler Myers with better stamina and fewer injuries. He's the reason why the Sabres traded Myers to the Jets in the first place. Just don't look at Risto's advanced career analytics if the Canucks land him. You'll cry.
  14. You're correct. Botterill and half the league put a higher value on Risto than I do. I'm not a Ristolainen fan.
  15. I'm with the Twitter guy. I'd trade Risto + the 31st pick for the 10th and run away laughing before JB changed his mind.
  16. No, but his shooting accuracy in the heat of the moment is. Risto isn't a dumb player, he's just not as good as half of the league thinks he is and I don't see him ever getting better. The analytics people are most definitely not fans of his. Risto's one saving grace, and the biggest thing that makes him coach's catnip, is that he's a workhorse. For a large guy, he has excellent stamina and is rarely injured.
  17. Breaking up monopolies has been historically good for the economy and drives innovation. Everything from Standard Oil to Bell System (Ma Bell). The resulting companies end up being worth more separately than they were as a whole and often grow up into giants like Chevron and At&t (which itself was eventually forced by the gov't to divest). That said, breaking up companies is easier said than done. Google however is starting to make it personal with the Republican party with their policies especially on YouTube. The funny thing about that is that YouTube is still unprofitable after all these years and could end up being the main driver of their dissolution as a single company.
  18. Guy opens fire on a building full of federal agents in Dallas Texas.  It went about as well as you'd expect.  (He's dead)

No blood or anything in the video.  Just the last of the initial shots and beginning of the running shoot-out.  For some reason, the news channel repeats the video a couple times.

@Dazzle If he did it to make a political statement, he's a mentally ill terrorist.  Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

In this picture, it looks like he knew how bad an idea this was:

I saw that picture and couldn't figure out if the cameraman was stupid, brave, or both.

It makes me wonder if he was like some people who have lived through suicide attempts in that they change their minds half way through.  If so, this guy did this in the wrong state.  The second he pulled that trigger, anything short of throwing the gun away and laying on the ground, he was as good as dead.

  19. Fury just seriously tuned up Schwarz... Tommy boy didn't belong in the same ring as Fury.
  20. I posted an OJ Simpson Twitter video on what's supposed to be his new Twitter account, but I just remembered reading an article a day or two ago about new software making it easier to morph people's faces on videos and adding audio so now I'm going to wait and see if it's actually real.  I think it is, but the part at the end where he says he has some getting even to do makes me wonder.

    Here's the video/account for reference...

I remember watching that trial live.  The prosecution was so jaw droppingly incompetent.

@Sabrefan1  I didn't realize Hamilton Burger had a daughter.  So bad....It didn't require Perry Mason to win the case.

  21. Not at all. If I spent my life going after that, I'd probably try to hump it right there on the ice.
  22. I'm happy for ROR. He went from one of the worst teams to the Stanley Cup champions.
