  1. Don't think we can blame Virt's slow development on the Hitmen. Even the pro coaches in both the AHL and NHL haven't able to get him to live up to his potential yet.
  2. Take off Hitmen! I want to see people freak out and then mock them for not reading the actual post!
  3. Not true. My father is almost 80 and only got light headed, no chest pains. Fortunately he thought it was odd enough and went to get checked out and found out a vein they call the "widow-maker" was 99% blocked. They call it the widow-maker because it's a vein that's commonly the cause of sudden deadly heart attacks that often present without symptoms until your dead. Needless to say, they opened him up and gave him a bypass. Actually a triple bypass since they also found more narrowing, just not as bad as the deadliest one.
  4. Too bad he didn't have symptoms prior to his death. At the age of 48, there's a lot of things that can be done like stenting and bypasses to keep your heart's veins open.
  5. If he was only going to cost 7x7, the Sabres would have signed him already. Guarantee he's looking for at least 8.5 x 6 or 7. In my opinion, he's not worth 8.5.
  6. He costs too much and wants a lot of term, and you couldn't put him on a line with EP if you want to maximize his goal scoring. Two shooters on the same line would be fun to watch though.

  8. As if the Giant's draft wasn't bad enough, their brand new 6th round pick went out and got himself shot and a former college teammate killed... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/28/giants-sixth-round-pick-corey-ballentine-was-shot-on-sunday-morning/
  9. It's been in the news for days.
  10. Anybody who doesn't vote him in first place should have their voting privileges revoked...
  11. I think you're right on point. Binnington also played less than half of his team's games which is going to ding him a bit.
  12. This being CDC, you definitely aren't the only one, but I'm usually a worrier when it comes to things like this, and I am incredibly confident that EP40 is going to win the Calder in a landslide. The only real competition is who will come in second place.
  13. I don't doubt that for about the first 1/3 of the season that he was since Dahlin had to earn his ice-time after beginning the season slow-ish. However that's not how you judge a Calder candidate nor judge the overall performance of a player over the season. That's how you judge your defensive corp. You judge an individual over his performance. With your reasoning, that would be like saying Eichel should be in the running for the Hart since the Sabres lean on him heavier than a decent majority of teams. Eichel isn't yet a Hart calibre player so he won't be in the running for that trophy in the near future. After Dahlin acclimated and picked up his game, the Sabres leaned on him. Dahlin had superior offense to Heiskanen and slightly-moderately edged him out in defensive play as well and the advanced stats prove that. Take away his slow-ish start and Dahlin's analytics would be even better.
  14. Explain. I swear if you say "It's my opinion" or "It's how I feel", I will find it difficult to take you serious in your future posts especially if you say the latter. As for the former, opinions aren't fact. Numbers and analytics are a way to measure performance. The analytics don't back up your opinion and neither does the overall production numbers. Add that to Dahlin being on an inferior team, and he clearly had the better year. The only time Heiskanen was better than Dahlin was during Dahlin's slow start to the season. Once Dahlin adjusted to the NA game style and ice, and Housley gave him more ice time, he outperformed even Ristolainen.
  15. I was bored. The NFL draft had just ended and I was waiting to see who the Bills picked up in the undrafted pool.
  16. Advance stats aren't everything, but they're pretty telling when it comes to defensemen. This shows Dahlin is better offensively and marginally better defensively. Although I'd love to know what 15 games were cherry picked since Heiskanen's exit per 60 and exit percentage numbers are so skewed. You'd think they would be closer to each other on a solid d-man like him. Alf just has a furry chubby when it comes to bashing Dahlin. What's funny is that there were others who ignorantly +1'd him this time without even checking the numbers because Dahlin's in the running for the Calder which EP40 is going to win in a cakewalk anyways. The voting won't even be close.
  17. Add the text "2018-19 Calder Winner". It's a foregone conclusion.
  18. There is no way that a near PPG rookie forward loses out to a defender and a goalie. I agree though, the freaking out of the entire board would make for some very entertaining reading if the very very improbable happened. I'm more curious to see who will take 2nd place between Dahlin and Binnington.
  19. As usual talking out of your a*s when it comes to Dahlin. Heiskanen was close enough to Dahlin, but certainly not better. Even with the Dallas reporter who compiled this graph cherry picking Heiskanen's best games to put up against Dahlin, Dahlin still edged him out.
  20. EP40 has this in a cake-walk. It's not even close. Nearly a PPG player as a rookie and is quite likely going to be a superstar by the end of his 3rd year. Also for those of you who still think that the NHL cheats and will count the playoffs, Binnington has come back down to Earth in the playoffs. His save% is .911 with the same players in front of him as during the regular season.
  21. They're taking a shot in the dark on a cheap back-up QB. In a year or two, Belichick will get serious and draft Brady's successor. At that point, if he's still around and worth anything, Stidham will be trade bait a la Brissett-style.
  22. He should go to the NBA where he belongs.
  23. They're drafting for need rather than BPA so they better hope that all of their top picks perform well.
