  1. I remember when they said airport scanners in the US wouldn't keep recordings of people's bodies. Needless to say, that was a lie, they did and eventually some of those recordings found their way into the public and some of the stories about the people who were watching behind those scanners weren't good ones. They eventually had to pull the scanners and replace them with ones with generic outlines. If I were to go to Rogers, I'd be curious to know if these are the intrusive kind of scanners, or the generic outline kind of scanners.
  2. Berglund couldn't get over what happened to him in St. Louis. It had little to do with the Sabres. He was long gone by the time the second half collapse took hold of the team and the apathy came roaring back. He was actually revered by the young Swedes on the Sabres. His nickname was, "The Swedish Godfather", because they would follow him around all the time.
  3. Just the opposite. They became apathetic when the second-half slump was in full stride. The Sabres need their second line to mature. For instance, second line centre Mittelstadt went from high school hockey to the NHL in the span of a year. To help balance something like that, a team needs a solid bottom 6, and the Sabres most definitely did not have a solid bottom 6 they could count on. The only decent coach that the Sabres have had since Ruff is Bylsma, and the players didn't like him. The rest have been inexperienced coaches that the Sabres decided to take a chance on hoping that they could find the next great bench boss. This is Jason Botterill's (the GM) ship to right. If he doesn't in the next season or two he'll lose his job and the Sabres will basically be a near carbon copy of the dysfunction in Edmonton at that point, but without the benefit of the best player in hockey on the roster.
  4. The problem with the Sabres is that coaches are only lasting a couple seasons here before they are back on the job market with damaged reputations for not being able to do anything with the talent in the locker room. Until the organization is stable again, it's going to be difficult hiring an NHL head coach with a good reputation and a winning record.
  5. It's weird how gawky a decent amount of NBA players are. I guess when you're that tall, you try to keep as much weight off of your stretched joints as possible.
  6. His choices were the Kings or the Sabres. Rock meet hard place.
  7. He's only 33 y.o. He hasn't even hit middle age yet!
  8. There were whiners all over the internet as well. Including some sports writers. People are just so friggin' soft and are getting softer by the year.
  9. He lost both fights his sophomore year in 2006. He wouldn't even drop his gloves or defend himself when Gaustad was punching him. His only other grown adult hockey fight, besides the Svechnikov fight, he lost to Dubinsky in 2010. This was actually his first and only win in the NHL. He's not a fighter.
  10. Svechnikov's brother (Detroit prospect) left a message for Ovi on Instagram. It's on!!!
  11. They showed the picture of the old peach being rolled in the video. They also showed the 1992 replacement peach. The newer one is much better.
  12. I only half believed you on this one, I was thinking, "Who riots because of MC Hammer?!" Sure enough, people actually rioted after an MC Hammer concert... https://globalnews.ca/news/4368523/the-penticton-peach-and-recalling-the-infamous-1991-riot/
  13. Always look at the legs. When you shut off someone's lights, the legs go straight and stiff just like Svechnikov's did.
  14. They were able to save the structure and all of one tower and by the sounds of it, most of the second. Things like the spire are gone forever, but if they do it right, they can recreate the vast majority of the building and build a replica of the original spire. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/europe/notre-dame-cathedral-paris-engulfed-flames-n994646 They also had already removed the statues that are usually in the spire.
  15. USA!!  USA!!  USA!!

Canada needs to continue putting effort into making hockey accessible for young people. The costs of equipment and travel are pricing many kids and their families out of the game.

Once again it seems that the USA has to cheat to win.

Finland was undeniably robbed of GOLD

Also in a Gold Medal final you don't have a shoot out,you play on until one TEAM wins, THANK YOU!

Some really hate it when the USA wins at anything especially hockey.
