  1. Only 13 votes so far, have your say in this decision!
  2. You’re talking about insanely rare scenarios though. Also your roster isn’t over the salary cap so your example doesn’t apply. Once again, bringing up the Voynov contract is insanely specific but even so from only my perspective that would be clearly cap circumvention if you signed a player, there was a specific public event that made it clearly a terrible contract, and pulled the strings in public to void that contract. We would then move to the player previous to the one you are very publicly attempting to circumvent the cap with.
  3. Seems unlikely though that you would intentionally sign someone in the off-season just to void their contract before they play their first game. Seems incredibly difficult for you to then make a trade with someone to bring salary in just so you can open up a contract spot, when you could have just traded a player away for a pick(s). That scenario isn’t something on my radar, though I appreciate you wanting to be constructive with the new rule change!
  4. Trades will not be reversed. The voiding of contracts is in the real CBA as an action for cap overage but reversing of trades is not as it would have too large of an effect IRL. The second part of your question is a very good one, we gauged this off of every team currently over and it worked in all those scenarios, but I will talk to the other commissioners and get back to you. I’ll mention it in the reply to you and it’ll be on the rule page.
  5. RULE CHANGE Previously, if a team were to have a roster over the salary cap, their roster would be invalid and they would not accumulate points. For the 2019/2020 season and onwards, any team who is not cap compliant on day 1 of the regular season will have any NHL contract signing they have made, voided in reverse-chronological order until they are cap compliant. UFA's will be dropped to the open market, and RFA's will be put at $999,999,999 and will follow regular RFA guidelines. Any team will be allowed to negotiate contract terms with these players (within UFA and RFA guidelines), including the team who previously had them as long as they have moved enough salary out.
  6. @Canuck Surfer @apollo all done!
  7. I will say it again for all those listening....this is not to free up cap space for teams over the cap. This is because our league is nearly at the max salary cap percentage possible without crumbling. Please read the OP and focus on the percentages and the comparisons between our league and the NHL, not the short term teams who are working to be under the cap. Edit: yes, a by product of this is that it’ll be easier for teams to trade their way out of their salary cap problems. But we need to focus on the long term implications of our salary cap percentage. edit again: if you enjoy a league with more cap restriction to have more of a challenge with player movement, that’s valid and please vote how you’d like, but don’t use this vote to spite the teams currently over the cap because it’s a lot bigger than that.
  8. I once again want to stress. This is not a short sighted suggestion. The only reason why the short term is being brought up is because of kick back. The goal of this suggestion is our long term league cap situation. We are inflated compared to the real NHL, and players needing contract increases next season will heavily outweigh the money coming off of the books. We are trending to an entirely capped out league without teams being able to sell off for a rebuild, or teams being able to add before a playoff push etc because of cap tightness. Hence the option to vote for it or against it.
  9. This isn't a vote to free up cap space for the teams that are over, it is a vote to fix our leagues inflated salary cap percentage. As stated above, this will have minimal cap savings on the teams who are over the salary cap and they will either lose a top 6 forward or top 4 defenceman for nothing, or they will still be over the salary cap. The teams who will gain from a potential buyout would be teams who are currently under the cap who have bad overvalued contracts and will free up wasted cap space. This will allow them to relieve the teams who are over for a nice cap dump price, benefitting the teams who currently have cap space and would gain more with a buyout. Once again, I want to stress that this suggestion has minimal impact on the current teams over, and is more-so directed towards the leagues overall cap future.
  10. LEAGUE SALARY CAP PERCENTAGE VOTE Once free agency slowed down this off-season, we noticed that our league overall is spending extremely close to the salary cap. Currently if we equally divided up all of the contracts in our fantasy league to each team, every team would have $1,612,903.23 in cap space. (98% of the entire league's cap used) In the real NHL, if all the contracts were equally distributed, every team would have $5,835,313 in cap space.(92.84% of the entire league's cap used). These numbers are including realistic RFA contract projections for both the NHL and our league. Our league is known for having free flowing movement and during day 1 of CDC Puck, we had an identical cap hit percentage as the real NHL. Unintentionally through UFA over the years we have slowly inflated the contracts in our league which is beginning to restrict player movement. This vote is letting the GMs have their say on what to do with this problem. You can choose between the following: 1.) Allow (1) compliance buyout to each team to get rid of the worst deals in the league, and lower our total league cap hit. 2.) Raise the salary cap to $86m which would balance out our cap hit percentage to the NHL without changing contracts. 3.) Make the change this off-season or next. 4.) No changes. Raising the salary cap is self explanatory, but here are the rules regarding our compliance buyout: The Compliance Buyout is a trade-able asset. Compliance Buyouts do not count against your salary cap. (Think of it like terminating a contract) You do not have to use your buyout. Players bought out with a compliance buyout cannot re-sign with their former team (traded buyouts/players as of the start of the proposed buyout window will be monitored and will not be allowed to return to their former team) There will be a similar penalty to buying out a recently signed player as there is to trading a recently signed player. After the buyout window, there will be a July 1st (2.0) for all the players bought out. There are 8 teams projected to be over the salary cap, with large hurdles to jump over to become cap compliant. We don't want the other 24 teams to think we are bailing those teams out, and we have 2 reasons for you to hear that reassure you this is not a bailout for those teams. The commissioners have done a "mock buyout" for those teams, and if they were to use the buyout on a player of their own, 7/8 would either lose a top 6 FWD/top 4 D, or still be over the salary cap after buying out a bad contract. We are finalizing a change to the salary cap overage rule to start the season that will be harsher, in order to stop teams from intentionally starting a season over the cap just to wait for a player to go on IR. This will be announced shortly. I myself have recently traded away assets to move salary cap, as have many of you. Please keep in mind this suggestion is not to help people in the short term, it is to keep the league's cap healthy in the long term. This vote will be open for 7 days. Click Here. There is a comment box in the survey if you would like to share any concerns.

  16. Thinking about Brock and his dad Duke Boeser...his lung cancer has come back and he had a blood clot yesterday that triggered heart failure. Currently considered critical but the next 48 hours are huge. Hopefully there is some good news soon.

  17. 4-2 win back in 2011, and I believe 3-2 or 4-3 loss in a shootout to buffalo to begin our massive losing streak this past season lol. i had tickets to the senators game that had petey scoring an overtime game winner hattrick but had to sell the tickets because work sent me away during that time... brutal hahaha
  18. Someone else has inquired about that as well, but we don't have a rule in place regarding going over the cap by a certain percentage during the off-season.
  19. The following teams are currently projected to be over the salary cap on opening night barring trades. The numbers below are calculated after taking players who are expected to be healthy off of IR, and call ups (newly waiver eligible players who are quality NHL players and players who are above AHL talent level and will require an NHL spot). The salaries of players being sent down in replacement have be calculated in the below numbers. Boston Bruins - @Canuck Surfer - $3,605,000 over Carolina Hurricanes - @JE14 - $19,576,667 over Dallas Stars - @Rindiculous - $2,981,437 over Los Angeles Kings - @Frogger - $5,650,400 over New Jersey Devils - @70seven - $8,221,478 over Pittsburgh Penguins - @cunningham19 - $438,979 over Vancouver Canucks - @Watermelons - $2,971,429 over Washington Capitals - @Peaches - $2,912,021 over I’m posting this as a reminder that if your team is over the salary cap by even $1 on opening night, you will have an invalid roster and will not accumulate points during your overage. Happy trading
  20. My updated roster coming into the 2019/2020 season! Leaps and bounds have been made this off-season, while also maintaining my prospect pool. I still plan to do a major post going over my off-season moves and thanking some of the massive players we’ve moved during our busiest off-season yet. Excited for a competitive season
  21. Had me so triggered at this part until I realized what was happening I enjoyed this all hahaha
