We are on the same page. Pure talent wise Elias was awesome. Gaudette was a surprise and made a great impression on me. Wouldn't it be amazing if Gaudette can become 1C allowing Elias to play wing for us. Boom goes the dynamite lol.

Love the update. The change to focus on rep points rather than focus on number of posts is a game changer. Very positive move that will help promote less antagonistic posting. Well done.

When I watched Elias live at the season ticket holders young stars game at Rogers this summer, one player stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Elias. Special talent. The kid is for real. He will be our best player in a few years. Personally I believe he will be a superstar and possibly the most talented player to put on the uniform since Bure. Ive been following the team since 1970. Kids awesome.

I watched these guys live row 6 Centre ice at the prospects game this summer at Rogers. Gonna say this. Pettersson is amazing. No bs flat out the best player on the ice. Gaudette is a gamer.I think he's gonna play in the NHL Lind may or may not get there but he looks like a workhorse. Gadjovich has a ways to go. Palmu is seriously tiny and unlikely to make it even though he's likeable.

Olli plays this year in Finland. He will improve more this year playing in a pro league in Finland than he did last year in junior. Next year he will go to Utica and take a big step in his development. Two years from now he will crack the canucks out of training camp. I expect we'll have a great young D prospect at that point.

Willie D told the media when virtanen was called up and didn't play that he just came up to get his stuff. Lol. Was a mistake as a coach. Miss his mustache though.

I like Jake. I like Linden. I like Benning. Going to stay positive cuz there's lots of upside coming. Will be fantastic when Jake starts to make a positive impact on the teams success on a nightly basis.

This guy is going to surprise people. Most physical guy on the ice by FAR in the prospects game. Big hits hard skates well. Very underrated so far. Same age as brisebois but way more jam. Watch for him. Played on Sweden's 2017 world junior team. Teammates were Petersson Dahlen and Dahlin. Drafted 135 which is ahead of both Hutton 147 and Bieksa 151 in their respective draft years. Great pick.

I'm betting 3 of 4 will be part of the Canucks first Stanley Cup win. Wonder which 3. They're all up and coming.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017
fanfor42 replied to hyper00's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
As important as anything to a rebuild is creating a buzz about the team. Getting 3rd and 5th in the same draft would create this and signal a point in time for everyone to rally around and believe in. Takes balls to do it. Got those JB? -
Hes a good story, great karna. Traded for Burrows. That will always be in the back of his mind and will form a good basis for his approach to his career. Gonna be a good one.

Virtanen Will make the Canucks opening roster. His biggest detractor was Willy. Benning and Green and the fanbase want to see him play. Up to him if he can stay up. I'm betting yes with Green coaching him.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

Canucks currently sit 4th from the bottom with 8 games left. Statistically it is 90 percent they will finish 4 to 8. Vegas seeds 3rd so canucks get bumped to 5th to 9th. If they don't win a lottery pick they statistically are likely to bump to 6th to 10th. Most likely drafting 6th to 8th Check the math. So. If we win a lottery pick we get to pick 1 to 3. If not it is extremely likely we pick 6 to 8. It is extremely unlikely statistically for the canucks to pick 4th or 5th this year. At 6 to 8 the list of who will be available is who? That's realistically the scope of the discussion. Unless we win a lottery pick@! -
Virtanen will be a Canuck regular sometime next year or the year after. Gonna be a great 3rd line player 35 to 40 points and hit like a truck. Nothing wrong with that.
-
I remember watching him slay the dragon. Group of my kids and their friends and girlfriends/boyfriends all watching together at our place. Holding our breath until Burr got it done. Everyone went wild.. greatest goal in Canuck history for me and many others. Thx Burr. So glad he made an immediate impact in Ottawa. Love the guy.

People who want to see patience with Virtanen like to say power forwards take a while to develop. The good ones, however, develop quicker than what Jake is doing. Bertuzzi played a total of 13 games in the IHL and spent the rest of his career in the NHL. Cam Neely never played a single game in the AHL. His entire career was in the NHL. Virtanen was drafted 6th, Neely 9th, Bertuzzi 18th. Look it's not over for Virtanen. Canuck management made a big mistake bringing him up right away and paying him 925k as an 18 year old. He should have stayed in junior until this year. Oh well water under the bridge. Hopefully he can turn it around. It is going to take character on his part. Has he got it?

Wow. Way to be an old Muppet in the balcony.

Oops. 14 games in and it doesn't look like checkered shirt guy is going to be right about Lack taking over from Milleras the Canucks number one goalie... Funny how he predicted that based on preseason and two regular season games. Canuck fan trying to be the first to identify something and making a complete swing and a miss. Lol.

As a season ticket holder I've been watching Matthias live. As everyone knows, or should know, when watching live you get to focus on a player rather than getting just what the tv camera chooses to show. So I have watched hi. I gotta say this. He is not gonna stick long term. There is a lack of drive to his game. He reminds me of Pyatt. Big, occasionally involved but really not a guy we are gonna be able to count on. I don't think I'm wrong on this - but time will tell. My guess is he is here for at most the rest of this season but no more. I would think it is likely that he spends at least some part of the year in the press box and is packaged in a trade or in lieu of that is not resigned at the end of the year. Sad to say but I think that is the truth. As for Bo. He will get his chance to shine. He will take a little time to develop but the consenus on him is that he will be an impactful 2nd or 3rd line center in the NHL and I believe that to be true. When you watch him live he is a bull. He skates well, has good balance, good vision and makes smart plays. In time he will reach his potential. Matthias never had the upside that Bo has. No one ever projected Matthias to be a good as Bo is projected to be. Bo will be better. Matthias will be gone.

Burrows is going to be traded as soon as a deal can be worked out. At this point that means he needs to become a serviceable forward who contributes on the scoresheet. Last season's numbers won't cut it this year. Next he needs to remain healthy. Finally, JB needs to come to him with a legit offer from a contending team in order for Burr to agree to be traded. Otherwise we have a 3/4 line player on the decline who gets 4.5m for the next three years. I like Burr but his best days are behind him and his contract is now a problem. Linden has singled out Burr Hansen Matthias and Sestito as players who need to contribute on the scoresheet. That is not by accident. These guys have been identified as guys who need to be better offensively than last year or they won't be here.

[Rumor] Ryan Miller to Vancouver Thread
fanfor42 replied to canuckbeliever's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For people incessantly posting " tank for McDavid" please pay attention to the rules that have been in place for several years. If you finish dead last in the league you get a 25% chance of drafting number 1 over all. That means you have a 75% chance of drafting 2nd and not getting McDavid next year. If you "tank for McDavid" and finish 2nd or 3rd from the bottom you have even less than a 25% chance of getting him. The tank for McDavid people are morons. -

Lack would benefit from a seasoned guy sharing the goaltending load with him. Miller is worth exploring in that context. That's it. -
It needs to happen. Torts was not a fit and did a poor job this year. Lots of good candidates out there. Need to pick a GM then a new coach who are on the same page and all rowing in the same direction.
