  1. Ya Boyd has shown very little. He even commented in the post game interview today that he is advertising himself for any team not just the Canucks. Which is ok. But telling.
  2. The Canucks vs Calgary everyone is finished, during post season but still in regular season, Super Series lol. Comes down to tomorrow. If Calgary wins that one then we will probably split the final two and pick 8th. If we win tomorrow then go for it. Lol win em all and pick 11th.
  3. On a positive note Demko is going to be a Vezina calibre goalie in a couple of years. That alone will give the nux a chance to be a competitive playoff team.
  4. With 3 games left here is how it stacks up: Nux win 0 pick 5th Nux win 1 pick 8th Nux win 2 pick 10th Nux win 3 pick 11th That assumes no loser points. And before the draft - which this year just might deliver the Canucks first overall. (Oh Billy Billy Billy lol).
  5. Canucks forwards Miller Boes Bo Pearson Hogs Mac - and then a bunch of other guys. Lol.
  6. It is clear that during the heat of the battle Benning lost his way. He never offered Toffoli a contract? C'mon that is just gross incompetence by a GM. This is a cup winner who wanted to be here, who auditioned and was a great fit so you knew what you had. He was willing to sign for a reasonable price and you don't even make him an offer? This after losing Markstrom and Tanev to free agency. Did JB not see the negative impact losing all of them was going to be on the team left behind? Toffoli with us instead of Montreal probably turns a couple of those early games with Montreal from losses to wins and puts us right in the race for a playoff position instead of where we are. After the bubble success and knowing you were going with Demko so Marky was leaving, how is it possible that you don't understand the importance to your group of keeping Tanev and Toffoli? You lowball Tanev who walks and you never even make a pitch to keep Toffoli. Unbelievable!
  7. Where's a little something for the effort? Jeez.
  8. Ok so as the season winds down the Canucks final position is getting clearer. We have 45 points with 5 games remaining: Win 0 finish 4th last Win 1 finish 4th last Win 2 finish 7th last Win 3 finish 8th or 9th last Win 4 finish 10th last Win 5 finish 12th last Those are the only possibilities. Also note Seattle gets gifted 3rd so we will be seeded one worse than all of the above. Then the lottery will determine final draft positions. Whew that was a lot of work. How about a little something for the effort? (Caddyshack reference lol).
  9. SJ and LA giving up to preserve their draft positions. SJ losing 4 to 0 and LA losing 6 to 0. Loser franchises. Ottawa beats TOR in OT.
  10. Fans should look at the comparison between Colorado and Van. 1. Horvat and McKinnon both drafted 2013 1st round, 1st and 9th respectively. 2. Both JB and Sakic came on as their teams GM's in 2014. 3. Similar draft story for each team if you go through 2014 to 2019. (JB might be a little better actually). The glaring difference is the pieces that Sakic has added outside of the draft, compared to the mediocre pieces JB has added over the past 7 years. JB held on to the Sedins until they were ready to retire. No return for them and kept trying to add pieces to make us competitive like, ahem, Eriksson. Very interesting to look at the comparison and realize Colorado is right now 2 points from 1st overall while we are a few points from last overall. However. In 2016/17 Colorado finished dead last overall and drafted Makar. That was 4 years ago. Are we 4 years away from the same trajectory? If so then you trade Miller. If you think we are closer to competing then you keep Miller. If JB waits to see then real chance Miller leaves on his own as a UFA for nothing if we haven't become competitive by then.
  11. Miller is a great player and a big part of the current team. However the question is, if we are actually going to be competitive in 2 years, or not? If the answer is no, then we need to trade him now for picks to add to the mix in a couple years and be competitive when our young core is a few years older. If the answer is yes, you definitely keep him. That is the question. Was JB right when he said we would be ready to compete in 2 years or are we more like 3 to 4 years away?
  12. Once a team is eliminated there is an artificiality that sets in. So I no longer get too worried about the last games once we are out. On a positive note Demko - showed he is ready Boeser - now a solid top guy Petey - will be back next year Podz - is coming next year Hogz - break out rookie year Rathbone - omg. top 10 pick... All very positive signs going into next year. I think we will have a really nice turn around next year and make the playoffs in a normal 82 game year in our regular division. Looking forward to it!
  13. It will happen. I'm sure you didn't see Sutter coming before he was acquired. Would love a beer with you and hopefully Vintage joins in. Time for all of us to get to do that soon I hope!!
  14. lol go read your post above then this one. You say you would re-sign him. Then you say you are not the one re-signing him. Lol. It's ok though I respect a coupe of hockey drinks partner.
  15. Move on. Sutter is not coming back and we will find a better option. Mediocre throughout his time here.
  16. He is absolutely one of the guys we have to move on from. Partner you will come over to see this before long. We will fill his spot with a better fit. A true 3rd D who has some offense a well as defense. The Sutter train is moving out of the station.
  17. How many games have the Canucks lost because their pp is one of the worst in the league? Ok. Quite a few. So here is the deal. Take your pick. Our entire best 5 players are bottom of the league or our pp coach is bottom of the league. Gotta change the assistant coaches this summer if we do any changes at all. Obvious is obvious.
  18. Absolutely do not re-sign Sutter. C'mon. Move on. Aging vet always hurt. No offense. He is an ok defensive player who is overpaid for what he brings. Time to find a younger option. There is an entry draft coming. There will be players that can't be protected and that Canuck can deal for who will be a much better fit. No to Sutter. No no no.
  19. Demko is still proving himself. You're right. This is not meaningless for him. He wants to get better and better. He wants to feel like he had a solid first year as a starter. Hogz the same. Still trying to grow and get better. He wants to feel like he had a solid rookie year. There is value in not just chucking in the towel to pick say 7 instead of 10. (And honestly a win here or there is going to make about that much difference that is all). The emotional part of the game for the players is big for team success.
