If we are picking 7 or below then definitely pass. if we are picking 10 or higher and Ariz will retain 1.25 per year on the contract so OEL comes for 7m cap hit then I think about it. But. We don't need this deal as much as they do. They have no first round pick this year and they do have money concerns. Petey, Podz, Rathbone, 2021 first, possibly 2022 1st coming on board over the next 2 years will transform the Canucks in a very positive way. So, ya. I'm leaning toward no on this one partner...unless it gets some sweetening lol.

We need to explore an upgrade at 1RD to pair with Hughes first. If that is doable then the question is how much is left over to sign Eddie and how much is he willing to settle for. Aging but still serviceable vet. Cap constraints and the need for a 1RD mean that he is a secondary consideration. Nice to bring him back if it works.

The police investigation is actually a positive development as it will get to the bottom of it in a legitimate way off of social media. Once they make a decision there should be more clarity for all concerned. I hope he didn't commit a criminal act but I guess we will see. If he did he won't escape the reality of the consequences as it is front and center in the media.

That's pretty lame partner.

The number one priority for the Canucks is to find a true stud number 2 D to pair with Hughes. This will give us a true top pair. Look at how Reilly has improved in TO since he was paired with TJ Brody. Whatever the Canucks do, they need to find the stud defensive minded talented true number 2 D pair for him. It's not Hamonic (he's a good 5-6) and not Tanev (he's gone and was a good guy) and not Luke Schenn (fans liked him and he was the first partner). It is a true number 2 that is needed. As soon as that happens we will start our way up the standings. Hughes will be able to grow into the player he needs to become and will become. His confidence will grow game over game when he has a partner who has talent and knows how to back him up in all situations. The synergy they develop will make them a huge part of our team. Draft, trade, whatever it takes. This is the number one priority this team has. Move someone to get it done if that is what it takes. Be bold. If JB doesn't do it get someone else. Even Green will look good once Hughes gets a true number 2 partner to play with.

The biggest need the nux have is a stud number 2 defensive defenseman to play with Hughes and form a true top pair. When that happens we are going to take a huge step forward. Look at how Reilly improved in TO when he was paired this year with TJ Brodie. Whether we draft that number 2 or trade for him I am looking forward to it. That will signal our legitimate start to rise to be a contender.

I actually like Hamonic. But there is a reality to the fact that to get the best out of Quinn Hughes we need to pair him with a legitimate number 2 stud defenseman. Then he can thrive. Look at how Reilly improved this year in Toronto when paired with TJ Brodie. Hamonic is a good 3rd pairing D but we are missing the real deal to pair with Hughes and help him become the player he is destined to be. Biggest need for the team is that number two stud D to pair with Hughes to create us a real top pair. Looking forward to it happening! Man that is going to be huge when it happens. We are going to take a huge step forward at that point.

Aces is not a good choice. Young guys trying to crack the NHL are going to play on an AHL team that calls themselves the ACES?? Don't see that as a good choice for an AHL club that is competing with 30 other clubs full of guys trying to make it to the NHL.

Lind looks like a smart player. But he needs to work on his skating. His stride is too short and upper body is too upright. Bo - you got the phone number of your coach handy?

Left side next year Hughes Olli Jack and probably Eddie back? Right side Hamonic Myers Schmidt. Is that good enough? I'm thinking no. We need to pick someone up this summer who can play next year and be an improvement. Glad to see Jack getting a shot. He is going to be good I think. But short term we still have some improving to do on D.

Barring an unlikely run of victories in our last 9 games, there is a very good chance that the Canucks will pick in the top 8 of this year's entry draft. (Thank god for silver linings lol). That means a shot at one of: Power Beniers Edvinsson Hughes Guenther Eklund Clarke Johnson (Other possibilities include Wallstedt Lucius Lysell Sillinger) Who do you like? I think Beniers will ultimately be the best player in the draft followed by Edvinsson and Power. If we don't get into the top 3 I would be happy with Guenther or Eklund. Clarke is slight but in 2 years or so would hopefully be a good addition. I like Johnson but wonder at his ceiling. Of course Hughes would be fantastic. another brother duo to finish off what the Sedins started.. As I said thank god for silver linings this year.
