  1. Demko solid tonight. No question that he is going to adequately replace Markstrom in the fullness of time. So that's one win for JB. What's that 1 and 14 lol?
  2. Cost Edler about 140k just to equate the dollar value. The other was a 5k fine. One was a split second decision, the other 20 seconds of chasing guys and tossing them to the ice.
  3. Remembering Rathbone played 2018-19 with Adam Fox at Harvard. Fox has 47 points so far this year. Look forward to see what Rathbone can do..
  4. Ya the year of the Matthews draft the Canucks finished 3rd worst in the league. So we successfully tanked that year. Toronto won the draft lottery with just a 20% chance. We dropped from 3rd to fifth when Wpg and Columbus won the 2nd and 3rd spots via the lottery and leapfrogged us. We then picked Juolevi. Not that any of that cost us anything in the long run...
  5. Fantastic to see Rathbone make his debut. Wishing the kid all the best!
  6. Did you enjoy watching your first game tonight partner?
  7. Yes ^ Some fans have blinders on when it comes to Green. Hughes ice time is the coaching staff's responsibility. Baumgartner and Green determine how many minutes and in what situations Hughes plays. He is being over played pure and simple. Making him a green jacket candidate in his second year is brutal. Dial it back and think about what is best for the kid, Play him on the pp as much as you want. But put him in a position to grow into the responsibility at 5 on 5 against top players. Don't just play him too exhaustion ffs. That is not good coaching. No way to defend it.
  8. Exactly. ^ When fans defend Green they need to think about this. Hughes is one of the two most important players to be developed on this team. If his development is handled poorly it will be a disaster. Don't over play him except on the pp. Don't expect at 21 and 170 lbs he is ready for 25 minutes a night against the other teams top players. Green is not coming close to handling Hughes development properly and he needs to be held accountable for it.
  9. Yes. This is a key reason why people think Green is the wrong coach. ^
  10. Great point. ^ Hughes is a second year pro. A small kid. He is being overplayed by this coaching staff night in and night out. People talk about putting players in a position to succeed. That does not mean overplaying a young kid to see if he can get the green jacket. He should be more sheltered by this coaching staff but he is not. On a better team he would play a ton on the pp but he would play less 5 vs 5 and would not have the toughest matchups. He is an offensive young d man. Playing him ragged is really a foolish way to develop him. But of course some bright bulb will come on here and argue that there is nothing wrong with this because doing nothing to change things is the "calm" approach, Passive fans accepting of poor coaching and management is not going to equate to a winning culture nor is it going to develop our young stars properly when they are not being handled properly right now.
  11. The fan base is polarized. Half want changes and think we have been patient enough and don't see any direction from current management and coaching. The other half cling to the belief that doing nothing is less scary and therefore better. Complacency breads mediocrity and that is what costs $225 a ticket. Laughable.
  12. Edler is 35 and will only regress. Keeping him for nostalgia is a bad idea. Bieksa was let go when his time came. All older core guys eventually get let go if you want to get younger and improve.
  13. This management is inept. I have finally given up hope. We need to clean house and bring in people who don't make embarrassing mistake after embarrassing mistake. From this point forward it is not just about drafting. It is about running a professional organization that players fans and everyone involved is proud of. Before the players lose faith and it starts to unravel.
  14. Embarrassing. 5 straight losses when the season was on the line. This team could go 2 and 8 the rest of the way and might finish last in the division. Seriously fans. This team is arguably no better than 5 years ago. We have half a dozen decent players and then a bunch of guys who are no good. But we have Green instead of Willy! And we still have JB.. Lol. This is not a good franchise and it is in disarray.
  15. Edmonton has become a good team. All our laughing at them is over now. We look sad. Wow. Tough year to be a Canuck fan with high hopes crashing down to this rock bottom. I don't know what the answer is. Our hopes for next year are Petey Podz and maybe some young guys like Lind Rathbone and Gadjovich can develop. And maybe not. But aside from that we are looking like a terrible hockey team in disarray.
  16. Diamond Dave fingering the crowd as Van Halen left the stage at the end of the concert...
  17. Omg it was the premiere venue. The other was the KXA which was a concrete barn where they sold cows.. Coming to Vancouver in 1980 to study acting and go to a ton of concerts was an eye opener. Late night burgers at Frescos were really amazing!!
