[GDT/PGT] Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers l May 3, 7 p.m. l SNP

Growing up in Kamloops my first concert at age 14 was April Wine backed up by Heart at the Memorial Arena. My first concert in Vancouver was a road trip to see Rush Permanent Waves at the Coliseum. Unbelievable. The prophetic robes... -

Extinct Rebellion Plan to Shut Down Lions Gate Bridge Today

Did they actually blockade the bridge or is this just nonsense? -
This is an excellent point ^

Just watched Donnie and Dhali interview Diamond. He says nux offered just over a million. Nik had a tax free offer of a million from the KHL. After tax and escrow the Canucks offer was simply too low. So they didn't negotiate further, they just informed the Canucks that he was signing back in the K. Had the Canucks offered him 2x2 he very well might have signed as the money would have been very close on an after tax basis. That's from the horses mouth.

I hope he and Rathbone actually get to play and not just spend the next 2 1/2 weeks on the taxi squad.

Right and it's clear evidence that he does not have the drive to make it in the NHL which was a knock on him by a lot of Canuck fans. Jury is back in on that point.

The Province says JB is quoted that the Canucks offered him what he wanted and he turned it down to stay in the KHL. The Province also quotes Diamond as saying that Nik could not accept what the Canucks were offerering, it was too low and they even tried to do a one year term but no go. So once again there is nothing clear in Mudville when it comes to Tryamkin and the Canucks. JB couldn't seem to figure out how to do this deal and now Tryamkin is gone. Which I am not that upset about. Thread is still open pending further info and insight to get to the bottom of this I guess.

[GDT/PGT] Vancouver Canucks @ Toronto Maple Leafs l May 1, 4 p.m. l SNP

How about the powerplay drop pass that was so predicted by TO that the Canuck players either coughed up the puck or had to scramble to improvise. Bush league coaching. -
This scandal will be the end of JB and therefore Green and the coaching staff will not be brought back either. The Aquilini family has a multi billion dollar empire and they want nothing to do with this type of scandal. JB is implicated by association alone and that unfortunately is going to be enough for his tenure to end. Regardless of how it plays out it will be a stain for months to come and it will be enough is enough time in AQ's mind.

I remember Bettman commenting a few years ago that teams have to do a proper rebuild and can't cheat it. He was thinly veiled referring to the Canucks and another couple teams. Many pundits said early in the JB tenure that he needed to do a proper rebuild. Here we are reaching the end of 7 years of JB in a couple weeks. And it still looks sadly far away. AQ will clean house this off season and we will start again. It is really tough being a long term fan of this team. I have put in 50 + years and I mean the 70's were awful. Our expansion draft was picking from teams that only had to expose 7 players and we had to share every other expansion pick with Buffalo as they came in at the same time as us. No wonder we were so awful. This was 1000 miles different than the Kraken and Vegas expansion experience. Next year the Kraken come in with a what will surely be a stacked team to join Vegas and Edmonton (with their multiple number 1 picks) in our division. Some times its just bloody tough to hang in there.. -

Bingo. The future of the Canucks rests on how close Hughes and Pettersson can come to being stars of the stature of say Mathews. While I hate hearing the TO media play him up the reality is the guy is a great player. If Hughes and Petey top out at the level of Gaudreau and Monahan we are in for a bad time. They need to be better than that in a few years in order for the Canucks to have any chance of being contenders. They need to develop and management needs to provide a supporting cast around them. Which is also critical and is one of the key reasons JB is on the way out. Tough times right now with Petey out for the season from a slash and Hughes struggling to be anywhere close to a plus player. Here's hoping it turns around. -

Miller misses 3 games to start the year cuz management doesn't have rules preventing players from living together in a pandemic 6 - 11 to start the season Di Pietro doesn't play for 15 months -

If you are AQ you are in the process of assessing who is out there for a new GM and thus a new coaching staff. I think almost everyone now believes that a house cleaning top to bottom will happen this offseason. That will calm the waters with the players. Otherwise it could happen you are right. -

Vesey looks like he shoud be a hockey player but he is playing his 9th game as a Canuck and so far he has 0 goals 0 assists and is a minus 5. Even though he has had quite a few minutes and some really good shots in the top 6. Question if his audition should be over? I'd like to see Gadjovich get a couple games. -
Yes and if he is let go it will be the main reason. A brutal decision in retrospect. Could JB be excused for not seeing Virt stalling? Maybe, but losing Toffoli who was such a good fit here is a decision that will likely, and should, cost JB his job. I expect that after this year is over and AQ reflects he comes to the same decision. Which also means the coaching staff is gone because zero chance AQ signs Green to an extension but fires JB.
-
Whoa. I am not a Green fan. I think we should move on to an experienced coach next year to take us on the next chapter. But what you are saying is nonsense. There is a culture that has been coached into our players to allow other teams to take liberties without retribution? Those are your words and they are ridiculous. No way that Green, with all his shortcomings and should be let go, has coached into the players a culture of allowing other players to take liberties without retribution. That is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard posted on here. C'mon partner that is really dumb..even for your name. Lol.

Lind looked pretty good tonight. He has talent, skates well and is willing to be fairly physical. Looking forward to seeing more.
