  1. Bubble Demko. Such a perfect nickname and sets the table for the future. Every time the Canucks get in the playoffs in the next 10 years its gonna be OMG if bubble Denko shows up look out we could go far. Teams are going to be afraid of it lol. So great.
  2. Interesting that JB straight up answered when asked in today's interview, that he doesn't see any cap problems next year. So he must have some knowledge that isn't public on perhaps Beagle's injury and future or ownership agreeing to buyouts (Holtby, Eriksson?) or Ferland's situation etc. It struck me that his answer was matter of fact, "we don't anticipate any cap problems next year."
  3. There is little to go on for actual facts here. Clark is a coach so is Green. Ownership seems to be holding their cards close to the chest on committing to any coaches. Media has framed this as "Clark usually gets his deals done early or moves on". But whatever. I don't buy that narrative. It's very editorial. If Clark wants to be here for a reasonable price he likely will be. If he want a kings ransom he may not get it. I also note that Demko has been sparing in his praise for Clark. He hasn't exactly been a cheerleader here so I'm not sure how much of a factor Demko actually feels Clark has been? This seems to be a media creation as part of the look what's wrong with Benning posturing. If Demko comes out and says Clark is the main reason I have developed that is one thing. But Demko largely developed in the AHL before working with Clark if I am not mistaken. Final comment is coaches come and go. No athlete has the same coach for their career. Is it possible that the Clark hype is overdone and it might actually be useful for Demko to move on to another coach? I'd like to see an interview in depth with Demko on this rather than the one or two comments he has made. Just saying I don't completely buy the woe is me take in the Vancouver media on how critical this is.
  4. Of all the bad and shocking news coming out for the Canucks (and everyone) the last couple of days, I think the top of the list for me is that Hawryluk has Covid AGAIN. He was confirmed to have it before the season began and is confirmed to have it again now. That is bad news on a big stage. An NHL player in the news as clear evidence of a repeat infection within the same year. (Variant is suspected). Makes me worried. Hoping that all these guys come through without lingering effects or serious medical issues. Man.
  5. Yes that is true. My doctor spent 3 months in ICU in St Paul's this year with it and still has not been able to return to work full time. My personal knowledge of young athletes who have contracted covid has been better results though. But certainly that is not anything other than my personal experience with a small sample of athletes. My comments were intended to say that this is not unusual. The fact that the Canucks are experiencing it is to be expected. However I also remain hopeful that the impact on these young guys is similar to what I have seen with young athletes elsewhere and they bounce back readily.
  6. I have a lot of friends and family playing hockey in leagues outside of the NHL. For example in Europe. The Alps League I know several kids and literally every team in the league lost games due to covid this year. Some teams had 3/4 of the players and staff down with it. Luckily, I am aware of no no serious illnesses or long term effects that resulted. Fact of life playing team sports this year. With 3 confirmed cases on the Canucks I expect their games will be postponed for a week at least.
  7. If we miss another week maybe we get Petey back for the remainder.
  8. I agree with you. Pearson is very much like Higgins was. Stats line is identical. These type of guys are steady Eddies until they reach a certain age and lose a step then the drop off is fierce. Remember Higgins in his last year went down to the AHL. So that said, 2 years is great 3 years is fine and no go on a 4 year deal.
  9. After this year the Canucks will have zero NMC's. So next year they will be tied for the having the least NMC's in the entire league. That is the greatest comeback in the history of sports. Lol.
  10. But. It's Benn. We arguably are better with either OJ or Rathbone in over Benn. And at best it is a very slim and very short term advantage to the team by playing Benn over the young guys. I cannot support Green giving Benn 90 percent of the games at the expense of young guys who need to develop and are talented and we need going forward. Green is afraid of making a mistake so he plays a guy like Benn over and over again - but it's Benn.
  11. 19 games left: 5 Edm 4 Cgy 4Tor 4Ott 2 Wpg 4-1 Edm, 3-1 Cgy, 2-2 Tor 4-0 Ott, 1-1 Wpg. Nux would wind up at 30 - 23 - 3 for 63 points and would be right on the bubble of in or out of the playoffs. Not likely, but this has been a weird year already so let's see. We are done with Mtl which is good and we only have 2 left against Wpg which is also good. We have been very competitive with everyone else who represent 17 of our remaining 19 games. If the splits go as above we would for sure finish ahead of Cgy and Ott. We would be very close to Edm for 4th if we go 4 - 1 with them. They are going to lose some games and fall back in the pack a bit as the season draws to a close as they will likely continue to have trouble with Tor and Wpg. Hey, gotta have fun while sitting at home lol.
  12. Sure glad Green didn't give him a chance to play this season at all . Would have hated to see him get a chance over Benn for a handfull of games. But at least Green playing Benn over Rathbone and OJ guaranteed that we would make the playoffs.
  13. Boy it's been a tough year to be a Canucks fan. Loss after loss. Obviously the team isn't good enough yet. But is the team good enough to be above .500? I'm gonna say yes and that shows our lack of coaching. Anyway, I would like to see some changes because I want to have some hope for next year. Tough tough tough to keep staying positive when our coach just comes out and says that's a good team over there after every loss...without offering any answers game after game. Aqua let's make some changes in the offseason and give everyone some hope ok?
  14. He was quoted recently saying he loves it here and would like to stay..
