Each of 7 teams are given a unique percentage chance at making the playoffs. If you add up each team's percentage and divide by 7 the answer needs to be 4/7ths or .5714 (which represents the average chance for each team in the division to make the playoffs). If that is true then the stat is accurate.

Deb I've posted some of this in the Demko thread in the past but it bears repeating. At his very first game at Rogers the Larschieiders started a chant Thatcher - Demko, Thatcher - Demko and the rest of the fans joined in. I think this might be his signature chant when fans return. Luongo came here at age 27 for 8 years. Demko is 25 and in his second year, plus a few games. At 27 he may be pretty darn special if his progression continues. I don't want to get ahead of things here. But a top goalie in his prime for 8 to 10 years can win you a cup . There are no guarantees with a young goalie's development, but Demko's path has so far been straight line without a lot of problems and he is coming into his own. If he can learn to bring this level of play consistently year over year he's gonna be a great one - and in the converstation with the Luongos, Mcleans etc. Pretty exciting stuff.

Luongo came to Vancouver at age 27 and spent 8 years here. He was pretty fantastic during his time here. For most fans, the best Vancouver goalie ever. (Although some like Mclean or even Brodeur). Demko is 25 and already on his second year here (plus a few games prior to that). He is starting to play like a top goalie. If his development continues he has a chance to be pretty darn special by the time he is 27... A top goalie in his prime for 8 to 10 years gives you a good chance to win a cup. It's early. But man..

In our two wins against MTL, Nux have played with energy, forechecked hard and minimized mistakes. So the recipe is there. Just need to do it in regulation not OT/shootout. Fingers crossed to win these two games if we come out with energy and our young guys bring it for 60 minutes. And a little Demko magic..

Looking forward to seeing what Vesey can bring. I like the group of young guys at the bottom of the payscale on the Canucks now. Lots of energy. A ton of young talent for under 10M total on the team now. (Podz coming as well).

March 17, 2021: Markstrom 11 - 8 - 2 2.90 .903 Demko 11 -10 -1 2.69 .920 Any media who jumped on JB over losing Markstrom in the offseason are feeling a little foolish now. Leivo no loss. Tanev a loss but not affordable at what Cgy paid. Toffoli. Big loss. But Hogz helps. Podz coming. Offseason not as bad as some media said now that the proof is in. -

Nah. LE gets his 1M signing bonus guaranteed for next year. After that he is left with a 3M salary next year. If Canucks buy him out it only costs them 2M spread over two years of real cash. So Aq saves 1M. So you're wrong on this one. I expect LE is gone. He can retire or terminate or be bought out but it is actually more expensive to keep him than buy him out for the last year so he will be gone.

Elliotte Friedman says Canucks should be signing Ian Clark's extension now. Says waiting will bite them. Thoughts? For me it seems to be a no brainer. If JB's hands are tied by ownership he should be finding a way. If Aqua has not been involved then it seems very curious. Has Clark expressed a desire to go elsewhere? I have not heard that reported. Meanwhile... why is DiPietro still not playing anywhere... Thanks all. Look forward to hearing your comments.

Hughes fantastic pass to spring Hogz and draw the penalty. Green needs to stay away from trying to teach Hughes how to play defense and let him just develop naturally with experience. Green has no idea how to coach an elite talent like Hughes and should stay out of it. His pregame comments about developing Hughes are a joke. Hughes is a huge talent Green is a mediocre coach. Know your limitations buddy.

Agreed but. The NFL does a pretty good job keeping fans informed on injuries. No reason the NHL can't adopt a different policy that is more inclusive of the fans. The fan experience in the NHL could do with some improvement.
-
He's not on the road trip so there is no reason for secrecy - the opponents all know he is not playing. I don't get why the team treats the fans with such a lack of interest when it comes to injuries to key players. I mean in the playoffs it's one thing to hide the condition of players from your opponent. But in the regular season... it seems needless.

Arturs Silovs went to the Moose a month ago as a favour to the Canucks.. In the month he has been there he has played only 1 game for them. Winnipeg has it's own goalie prospects that are playing on their farm. Manitoba is not a realistic place to send DiPietro as he won't get games there either. Domingue could have sat on the taxi squad or we could have picked up someone off waivers early in the season to fulfill that role (Like Wpg did with Eric Comrie). diPietro fulfilling this role is a lousy situation for a 21 year old prospect. Anyway, clock is still ticking on this and it is really a shame that DiPietro is getting no game time nearly 13 months since he last played a game anywhere. I remain hopeful that this gets resolved for him soon.

The CFL rules have allowed non prototypical players to have a career in the CFL rather than the NFL. speed smaller stature guys like Flutie and many others. If you go to 4 downs the CFL becomes nothing more than the AHL to the NHL forever and that's that.
