  1. Pod has an incredible drive and motor on the ice. Determined player. Will take him a long way. But he is very raw. He needs great coaching to reach his potential. This is the downside of the 2 year khl contract and why he fell to 10. Nhl teams have to be hands off his development for 2 years. But Watchung him play it is Frickin obvious why he was highly rated. Fingers crossed and can't wait for him to join the team!
  2. You are the epitome of the negative fan. You will be left behind as the team moves on. Partner it's not about you and making negative points to feel good about yourself. It's about the fans that have been here through thick and thin and are looking forward to our rise back to prominence. All the best. Hope you figure it out.
  3. It's not just about Loui. It's about channeling energy in a positive way to bring to Vancouver what we all want...the Stanley Cup. And personally if we ostracize fans like Timrafan we are all the poorer for it. We have amazing players wanting to come here from Sweden. Be a positive force in your Fandom.
  4. JB is honest as the day is long. He's a good man. Whether you agree with his moves or not you have to respect the honesty he has brought to his position.
  5. Hey rowdy canuck you gave my comment the confused emoji. Why is that? What are you confused about? You don't agree we've turned a corner as a team? Or do you think we should continue to mercilessly hack on Loui Eriksson instead of rising above that as fans of a team that has such a great future? What is it partner?
  6. Why don't we have a contest? Who can write the nastiest most demeaning essay about how much they hate Loui and how much better a person they are than he is. Grand prize is the smug satisfaction of getting away with it anonymously. Lol. Pathetic. Our team is turning a page. Time to get on board and support them.
  7. Virt has the tools to be top 6. It's not like he lacks the ability to get there. He's learning and the challenge is he's learning slowly. But. Give him some gritty tough forwards to follow like JT Miller and watch him grow up. He is about to turn the corner. Hope JB hangs on one more year.
  8. The one thing I admire most about Benning is his honesty. Early on he got in hot water by being honest. He has now learned what he can and can't say. But he has always been honest. I think his honesty is respected by other teams around the league. It certainly is respected by me.
  9. Since the Miller acquisition JB has shifted focus to adding D. He has said so. Not likely Panarin is in the mix to come here any more. With Boeser still to be signed, if nux added Panarin the cap room would be virtually gone before adding any D help. So not likely to happen now.
  10. Since Linden left there has been harmony between Benning and ownership. Aquilini has endorsed the rebuild repeatedly. TV shots of him and Benning at the draft show two guys on ghe same page. JB is in good shape right now. I expect ownership is in no rush to change the GM unless things get much much worse. If the team keeps improving there will be continued patience. Even if the progress is relatively slow.
  11. Boeser Pettersson and Horvat are here. Adding a full year of Hughes this year. Looking for Virtanen and Gaudette to take a step. Adding Juolevi this year. Adding Podkolsin in two years and possibly Tryamkin in a year. May see Woo in 2 years maybe others. So what's better, adding a 26 year old top 6 forward now or a mid first round draft pick rookie in 3 to 4 years? Miller addition is more valuable to this group. That's why they did it.
  12. Added Miller now rather than keeping the pick and drafting the next Miller and adding him to the team in 3 to 4 years. Cost was a 3rd round pick. Solid deal. Canucks benefit for the next 4 years at least.
  13. Obsessively dwelling on my failures is bound to make me ultimately successful.
  14. Of course you won't care about the Canucks once you are a Seattle thunderpants fan.
  15. So to clarify, if Benning trades for Lucic you are going to stop being a Canuck fan and cheer for the team that is not only johnny come lately but destined to be our most bitter rival for years to come? Gonna give you a chance to retract that partner. What do you think?
  16. Keep looking. It's not hard to find partner. He says, we know the first round really well. There's going to be some players we like after we pick. So maybe we'll move down. When you find it I'd appreciate a thanks.
  17. Benning is saying he is going to explore moving down not me. As Petey says Google it lol.
  18. Benning was just quoted as saying they may explore moving down in the draft. Minny picks 12 Van picks 10. So a very realistic sweetener on a Zucker deal would be a swap of first round picks. Won't happen until draft day though cuz it all depends how the first 9 go. But don't discount virtanen plus 10 for Zucker and 12.
  19. Vancouver to non nhl olympics to midseason LA replacement to Medicine Hat. Boy. Gotta say that's not a great elevator ride.
  20. 100 percent chance Brock gets re-signed. 50 percent chance of correctly spelling Irfan Gaffar. Lol.
  21. Just read the exit comments of Pavel ski Thornton and Karlsson after the sharks cleaned out their lockers. (ALL UFAS). Pavelski says he wants to be back he loves San Jose and he expects something to get worked out. Thornton said if he comes back it will only be to San Jose. Karlsson said he and his wife have been treated first class in San Jose have seen the best side of the team and the city and are grateful. Says not sure what happens next but it will happen for a reason. I'd bet money Karlsson does not re- sign in San Jose. I'll also bet vancouver is on his short list. So look out Canuck fans. It just might happen..
  22. Hey Rob. Casey de smith of the penguins is the smallest starting nhl goalie at 6 feet. The tallest is Ben bishop at 6 foot 7. Many are 6 foot 4 or 5 or 6. In fact the average is 6 foot 3. Why is this? Back in my day 6 foot was fine even big for a goalie. The reason is the stand-up style then. With the change to butterfly nhl goalies needed to get bigger. They set up lower with a wider stance to take away the lower part of the net. So having more upper body became important. Kids playing junior can get away being smaller cuz the shooters aren't as able to go bar down consistently. My comments on Dipietro were generic just to bring some focus to an issue and maybe get some posters to see some reality. If he is 6 ft (and he may be a little shorter) he is up against the odds to make the bigs. I think he seems like a great kid and I wish him well. But he can't play as small as he is playing. He will have to adjust his stance and his posture or he will get beat high. That will take a lot of work. His athleticism and attitude give him a chance but I think he is going to have a bumpy road starting next year in the AHL. Personally I'd like every young goalie with a great attitude to make it. But of course most don't. Wrt your specific questions I would say this. Every goalie learns to position themselves from experience. Their set up distance between the shooter and goal becomes inate through learned experience. This is a function of their size as well. Shorter goalies have a tendency to challenge more cuz they know their own ability to cover the net and have learned how high they need to come to cover the top of the net. Young goalies get away with some of this and Dipietro is going to struggle to find his new balance starting next year as the competition level raises. Bigger goalies can play further back (as their inate set up spot has been established further back comfortably through learned history) Ok lol. Don't want to drone on here. Thx.
  23. Dipietro plays small in the net. He won't make the jump to the NHL as a result. Nice kid but will not be an NHL goalie. I have played the position coached for a decade and have friends and family who have played bchl whl ushl NCAA and nhl. I can tell you. Dipietro will not make it all the way to be a regular in the NHL. When the shooters get better and nhl snipers are very good, there is simply too much room over his shoulders. Sorry to fans who are hoping for a better result.
