I hear the US has a leader with some chutzpah.  Some backbone.  A real go getter.  Decisive.  The best leader in the history of man kind even.  Some might say, a stable genius

Cute, and when have I supported Trump? If you think it's cool that our health minister is supporting Chinese migrants buying PPE in bulk just to send back to China then we're in clear disagreement.

you seem to like putting out sensationalistic info and fake numbers. It needs to stop, its not going anyone any good.

Cute, but the real fake numbers were from China, which you were hell bent on defending. Which then resulted in name calling and insults. I felt 'child' was an appropriate irony too good to pass up, in as much as your insults are petty and childish.

    • The US intelligence community has determined that the Chinese government concealed the extent of its coronavirus outbreak and gave false statistics to other countries, Bloomberg News reported, citing three US officials.
    • Officials transmitted a classified report of their findings to the White House last week.
    • Bloomberg described its sources as saying that the report's main conclusion was that China's public reporting of coronavirus cases was "intentionally incomplete" and that its numbers were fake.
    • China was the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak until last week, when the US's number of cases surpassed China's.
    • US and other Western officials have repeatedly expressed skepticism about China's numbers. Residents of Wuhan, where the outbreak originated, have also publicly doubted the government's reporting.

what? your idea of backbone is stopping us from helping innocent victims of the pandemic? some people need to die for you to feel patriotic?

haha, nice way to spin it. I'd like for our health minister not to pander to some immigrant vote by supporting the shipment of our ppe elsewhere.

Monstrous stats for the Swiss league. 23 y/o forward, undrafted. I wonder if the Canucks are among the teams interested. He played 2 years in the OHL, so he should know the North American game.

  5. Well I think we all agree on Eriksson. I'm of the opinion that Sutter and possibly Baertschi can still be traded. Sutter is serviceable, and it was reported that both MTL and OTT inquired about Sven. If we can trade one or both without adding picks or holding cap then we should do it. Otherwise buyout Sutter.

Even if we do buyout all these guys, still have to factor in how we're going to pay for Petey/Hughes for year after next.

  6. I'm wondering if the Canadians team could do something hockey-wise despite the NHL season being suspended. Canada is trending vastly better than the US and should be recovered sooner. If the Canadian teams were to have a play-out of 7 teams down to 4 and then do a 7 games series for two rounds, I be so down. Increase rosters to 25 players, get the sign-off from players, agents and insurance, pay them salaries and get it done.  Call it Canada fights Corona or something stupid.

    I just want some hockey.

  7. Eriksson, Baertschi, and Sutter all dead cap. Someone else pointed out in a different thread that the Sabres have all of 4 forwards on contract for next season, and I'm wondering if they could be interested in Baer/Sutter for a pick. Hell, take anything back. Move one of those guys, and buyout Eriksson, and we're in good shape. If neither get traded, buy out another. The tricky part will be making sure to bank some of that excess cap for the season after the next one (can't used numbers seasons as who knows when it'll start), wherein we'll need to re-sign Hughes/Petey with Edler/Pearson also due.

  8. Probably our 1C in Utica next season. I think his career path would have been more optimistic if he left after his sophomore year, his stats - while impressive - stagnated after that. A good call-up option maybe.

I'm still of the opinion the NHL will finish the 19/20 season.

An expert panel guiding Japan's coronavirus response may advise a relaxation of controls in regions that have not seen outbreaks, broadcaster NHK reported on Thursday, as Hokkaido prepared to end its state of emergency. The infectious disease experts, due to meet Thursday evening, were expected to recommend controls stay in place in worst-affected regions, while elsewhere schools could be re-opened and there could be a resumption of sporting events, the report said. The governor of Hokkaido, the prefecture with the highest number of infections, said his administration was scaling back its response to the outbreak, ending the emergency on Thursday to move to a new phase."We will end the emergency declaration as scheduled on March 19 and from the 20th move to a new stage to overcome the crisis of coronavirus infections," Hokkaido governor Naomichi Suzuki told reporters on Wednesday. Hokkaido had seen 154 infections as of Wednesday. Japan overall has had 923 cases and 32 deaths, according to the latest NHK tally. Among Japan's 47 prefectures, 22 have had fewer than 5 coronavirus cases, according to health ministry data.

Impressive, they seem to be on the other side of the curve. I see Wuhan has reported 0 new cases today, seems the timeline is more like 2 months with containment.
