  1. Jake got spanked there. It's a 1 on 1 and Hughes is built for those, but Jake didn't track a single movement.
  2. I had Virtanen ahead of Goldobin/Leivo/Eriksson when constructing lineups. Without a strong camp, those guys could easily leap frog him.
  3. Waiting on Group 2. I wanna see if Goldy lines up with actual NHLers.
  4. Haha, they definitely wiffed on some picks but got a steal in Carlo in the 2nd round that year. Vladar looks like he'll make the big show as well. I've personally let my Boston hate go. It's healthier. With the exception of Marchand of course.
  5. I like the mix in that first group. I saw some huge praise for Focht recently, I think Kuzma did an article. Giving him a pair of NHLers to lineup with bodes well.
  6. During Media Day, Eriksson was asked a softball question about what it means having the new additions to the team. I would have liked to see them flush out his offseason comments or if he worked on anything to improve for this season. I guess they're giving the guy a break, but hardly the focus of media attacks as many would purport.
  7. Yep:

Seems like a fitting name for the arena in Vegas

      PLEASE THIS MUST HAPPEN.

Also, this tops the infamous arena names of the past include the "Gaylord Entertainment Center" in Nashville, the "Smoothie King Center" in New Orleans, and the "KFC Yum Center" in Louisville if it were to happen.

  8. I thought that quote by Stecher at the end was pretty telling. Something along the lines of 'it gives Brock a chance to be closer to his Dad'. But if that were true then why is Brock training with the North Dakota squad?
  9. Ouch, Islanders making him do the dance again. He could carve out a nice career in Europe if he wanted to.
  10. Haha, I'm with you. I'd have less of a problem with Eriksson if he didn't double down on his mediocrity like he does. He never takes ownership, just says he's playing well and blames the coach.
  11. Some straight out of left field. Who is Will Warm?! Hell, I'm just excited for Canucks news.
  12. He's dead to me. Most of his contract is paid out and a majority of this year's pay was in a July 1st signing bonus. He can walk anytime and be a wealthy man... That one line of '76 points in 196 games with the Canucks' says it all. The guy didn't perform even close to his contract. That's on him.
  13. Can you imagine being a fan of an Albertan team and being content with a goalie and albatross contract swap?

  14. I have Utica looking like: Boucher - Gaudette - MacEwen Perron - Graovac - Bailey Gadjovic - Lind - Jasek (Hamilton, Bancks, etc.) And that's before 2 of Schaller, Goldobin, Eriksson get sent down. Utica would be absurdly stacked if they added Ferraro. That would probably take a 2-way with sizable pay for the minors. I fail to see where Landon fits on the big club or otherwise. Maybe we're just allowing him a showcase in the event another team would be interested. I'm with the rest of you, I don't want to hear it from Ray when his kid doesn't make the team.
  15. Curious list. I would have though Perron/Bailey would have aged out of the 'prospect' category. This is effectively Utica camp a month early.
  16. 'Bono' went onto win two cups after leaving us. He's a great 3C we just played him as a 2C due to lack of depth. Either Richardson or Bonino would have been better for us, both production and cap wise. But hindsight 20/20.
  17. I'm actually happy he's gone. He was always obtuse and aggressive. I think their panel will run smoother without him.
  18. 34 goals for 10.4m in cap. Still not ideal, and it's likely neither reaches that.
  19. Agree with everything you said. 19 goals for Richardson last year, I miss the guy.
  20. I don't mean to plug someone else's work but I found this one interesting. The Pass It To Bulis blog looked at some fancy stats regarding Sutter and compared him to other centres league-wide. The article is here: https://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/brandon-sutter-is-not-a-shutdown-centre-1.23931634?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Posted below: Oof. It hurts to see guys we passed on like Bonino and Richardson performing that much better. It seems Beagle has outperformed Sutter as well. As the article says, maybe cross our fingers and hope that Gaudette is ready for the second half. For the Too Long Didn't Read crowd: just look at the first chart. Sutter is egregious when it comes scoring against based on frequency of defensive zone starts.
  21. Yes, maybe. Schaller too methinks. Plussing you for the Thoreau quote, working through Walden right now.
  22. What colour would better highlight 'guys you wouldn't normally see'? Both of Gaudette and Goldobin have spent time in Utica.
