  1. Yep, Goldobin is going to need one hell of a camp to solidify a spot. As is our top six looks like: Miller - Horvat - Pearson Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser He's not cracking that. Then our bottom 6 comprised of match-up guys and PKers: Baertschi (Roussel) - Sutter - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - Leivo That still leaves Eriksson, Schaller and then Goldobin. At least one for Utica assignment. Cull is expecting a vet or two: So maybe Goldy earns 13F, but that's probably the best he can manage right now without significant injuries.
  2. Volcano eruption while boating:

I wonder if those boaters realized had that ash plume caught up to and surrounded them, the ash would have turned into a cement-like substance in their lungs and they would have suffocated on the deck of their boat...

  3. This is perhaps not as juicy as Eriksson speaking to Swedish media, but gives some insight into Goldobin's past season and his future here. The interview was originally in Russian, Daily Hive picked it up and it's posted below: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-nikolay-goldobin-russian-interview Some interesting stuff there. He would like Tryamkin to come back, if only for someone to talk to. Seems Godly is at odds with Green and in turn is afraid to make mistakes or take chances. I'll admit I don't have Goldobin penciled in our opening night roster. One would think he'd be more concerned about not having a contract this late in the season. He declined the qualifying offer. Anyways, I'll cheer for the guy, but he'll need one hell of a camp to stick on the big club.
  4. That's the first domino of the notable RFAs and it's expensive. White is a good player but getting both term and salary sets a tricky precedent for the remaining RFA class. The guy has one 40 point season and it warrants this?! Jeez
  5. I like what you did with the D pairs. Place a prospect with a pro, and give Hughes/Myers some time together.
  6. Below is more or less our depth chart as an organization. Safe bet these guys are all invited to training camp. Our first preseason game is a split-squad on Sept. 16th at home in Victoria and away in Calgary. What do you think the lineups will look like? Which of the prospects will be given time with vets? What chemistry should be cultivated in the preseason? Miller - Horvat - Pearson Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Baertschi (Roussel) - Sutter - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - Leivo Eriksson, Goldobin, Schaller Edler - Tanev Hughes - Myers Benn - Stecher Fantenberg, Biega Markstrom Demko Boucher - Perron - MacEwen Jasek - Gaudette - Bailey Gadjovich - Lind - Graovac Juolevi - Woo Teves - Rafferty Brisebois - Chatfield Dipietro/Kielly/McIntyre/Bachman Put em in a blender and make your lineups! Keep in mind more vets will be used for the home (Victoria) game.
  7. Miller - Horvat - Pearson Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Baertschi (Roussel) - Sutter - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - Leivo Eriksson, Goldobin, Schaller Edler - Tanev Hughes - Myers Benn - Stecher Fantenberg, Biega Markstrom Demko Boucher - Perron - MacEwen Jasek - Gaudette - Bailey Gadjovich - Lind - Graovac Juolevi - Woo Teves - Rafferty Brisebois - Chatfield Dipietro/Kielly/McIntyre/Bachman Now put them all in a blender and make your split-squad teams. It's the offseason, you can tell i'm bored.
  8. A middling prospect for a guy who WANTS to play in tier 2 Sweden. I'd say we win that trade.
  9. Stubbed toe or ankle, which hurts more?

Assuming you mean sprained ankle, the sprained ankle, in my experience, especially over a period of time. The toe might hurt more at first, but recovers faster.

  12. Lol. "If your guy scores 20 and our guy sucks, then we'll give you a pick"
  13. Miller - Horvat - Pearson Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Baertschi - Sutter - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - Leivo Goldobin IR: Roussel Mutually terminate Eriksson. He's gotten a majority of his contract paid, no point in sticking around if you're not wanted and don't want to be here. Bury Schaller in the AHL. Then we sign Boeser to an AAV around 7m and we might just under the cap.
  14. Isn't it risky to play, even in a beer league, without a contract?
  15. The discussion was regarding where to fit Gaudette in our lineup, be it centre or wing. Hirsch said Nashville wanted Gaudette at the draft. Speculate as you will. This would have been before acquiring Miller and signing Myers.
  16. Just a guy who has to prove himself in camp. Utica is a possibility.
  17. wait for the official. until then there's a Myers rumor thread that will suffice.
  18. I'm thinking it's the Florida tax law that appeals to Schenn. We would have had to offer north of a million to compete.
  19. Habs freeing up all this cap space is scary. I'm thinking free agency will be huge for them.

cap friendly says they have 13m or something

nukcs have 18m in cap pace

what space are the habs freeing up?

  20. Point per game free agent, no price point would surprise me. I'm impressed at how quickly the Rangers have turned things around. I'm not sure they'll make the playoffs next season, but they'll be competitive again.
  21. We have two Lou's taking up 9 mil in cap space. And you guys want to weaponize cap space? We've already shot ourselves in the foot with that weapon.

Probably be easier to part with Tanev, Sutter, Schaller, and Spooner. Then sign Schenn for insurance.

That would be $14 million right there.

    3. RetroCanuck

      RetroCanuck

If you can get anything for Sutter in a trade, now is the time to do so. In my opinion we shouldn't be signing Myers. Sign a different guy like Stralman for a couple years or take Zaitsev for cheap out of Toronto.

I would still consider a Lucic+Puljujarvi for Eriksson deal. Id rather have a big tough winger that may be able to rehabilitate his offence as a net front power play guy, then whiney pouty Eriksson.

    4. Squamfan

      Squamfan

trade erikkson and Sutter for a bag two 7ths no salary retained.

      buyout spooner

put Baertschi LTIR so hee can become a member of Bear Cheese Island

  22. Was waiting for this since the 2pm cut-off. Maybe we can get Hutton back cheaper, if not I'm sure there's comparable guys in free agency. Granlund walks, he'll find a contract somewhere. Benning banking on some free agent D.
