      Leafs > Pens :)

  2. Blues already have Rattie/Schwartz coming up, they don't need another undersized forward. I think Schroeder will be our 3 C next year. At present it looks like a pretty huge gap, and we will need to be under the cap, so might as well use one of our cheap young guys. I think since Schroeder's been playing pro hockey for the last 3 years he's deserving of a real shot - this is of course dependant upon a strong training camp. I also think we'll see Raymond walk this off season, so it will allow us to get a bigger/stronger forward in our top 6 -allowing for a smaller 3C. You can't doubt Schroeder's 2-way ability, it's just the case that his offense has to come. His offense did come - at the end of the Wolves season with a 13 game point streak, however we didn't get a chance to see him play after that. Who's to say he's not ready?

  5. Haha, suck it Christy. You may have won the election, but you lost your riding - hahaha.

  6. Well the criticism in his draft year was his foot speed/skating ability, but that's beside the point. I'm with you bro, I fully believe Schroeder is/will be an NHLer. He was clearly the better option over Ebbett this year, but AV wanted his LHC. I think it's realistic to see Schroeder in the 40-50 pt range in his NHL career, and from what I've seen he's more than capable of playing that tough 3C role. I'm also curious as to see how Schroeder plays when our system gets changed with a new coach and of course our new affiliate. It could well be the case that he's given the room to use his offensive gifts like he did in college. I'd like to see his numbers after finally getting 1C minutes, even at the AHL level. If it's the case that our defence first structure changes, I think we'll see a far more dynamic Schroeder. --- Back to GAUNCE - skating ability is clearly something that can be fixed, and for a guy that's 6'2" his stride will make up for it. It's also a strange criticism to make, as his team, Belleville, plays on international sized ice. He's also widely considered one of the best 2 way forwards in the OHL, so how can you adequately play both sides of a larger ice surface and be considered a poor skater? Seems contrary to logic.

  8. If anything, the officiating this post season has demonstrated the opposite, that even the slightest physicality warrants the most garbage calls. Basically anything from the Canucks - Sharks series illuminates this fact. The Sedin shoulder to shoulder 'penalty', Roy somehow taking a boarding penalty for a healthy check. Thornton drawing a slashing 'penalty' when he decides to waive the opposite hand in pain.
  9. It's amazing how people still play the size card, when St.Louis at 5'9 just won the Art Ross. Schroeder will be a 3C for us at some point, likely next year when our cap problems become evident. Pavelski, widely considered the best 3C is only 5'10. Having 3 lines that can score is far more of a threat than 2 scoring lines with another 1 that takes penalties. Back to the discussion of GAUNCE. He'll probably get an extended look out of training camp, and hopefully at the prospects camp he dominates against other top prospects. I don't see him making it right away though.

@key2thecup, they're 8 dollars for a single or 15 for the double cups

  16. I think they'll call him up, if only for the experience. I mean beyond Ebbett and Schroeder, we don't really have depth centres. If it were the case that Lapierre were to go down, do you really want Ebbett or Schroeder playing those grinder minutes in the playoffs? I think there's a good chance we seen our friend Gaunce called up.

  19. So you're saying a multimillion dollar franchise has to be accountable, and appeasable to 19 y/o's with talent? If MG was the least bit vindictive Cody 'buttboy' Hodgson would be spending time with the Wolves now. ----- To your point, it's not a matter of plug and play with young players, it's a matter of developing them within your system. I'd far rather have a player make his first impact at 22 as opposed to 18/19, as they would have adapted to our system and know how to play pro hockey. Anyone can bring up the example of Jeff Skinner, because it is so cut and dry, but what about the case of Cam Fowler - a guy who was dominant his rookie year, but has all of 8 points this year and a collective -60 for his 3 year NHL career. The Canucks are in the process of developing players, not breaking them.
  20. Jordan Staal was taken 2nd overall in 06', his expectations were already high. O'Reilly was just a nice surprise for the AVs.

I meant effed out of a playoff spot...

They need to win all 3 of their last games on top of 2 teams above them tanking. They're a game a way from being mathematically eliminated.

Hard to blame Arniel when he hasn't had any players to work with with our forward call-ups, too. lol
