  1. Haha. He needs to be able to bag skate before making this team. That skate in training camp set him back a month.
  2. Breezer will be here to watch games. When a guy actually slots in, I'm thinking Juolevi or Rafferty gets the calls.
  3. The actual coronavirus numbers: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3871594

Appreciate you've bumped this. Was reading the same material on Zerohedge.

I figure this thing is an intended biological weapon, that escaped(accident/intentionally?) from a lab. Prob as hazardous as Gary Buttman himself!

So if humans are so malicious(and/or stupid) to kick off some pandemic, we don't deserve much more time on this beautiful planet. Then we've officially jumped the shark.

Thanks nux fan. I definitely don't trust official numbers from China. There's no way they shut everything down, like they have without it being something significant. Just of the cases that have occurred outside China, there's a higher than reported death rate.

In a country of 1.3B I don't think it really is hard to miss 20k deaths. Think about people who quarantined themselves at home (ex. elderly who don't live close to the hospital). If the virus is also deadlier than reported to those that have weakened immune systems... well..

  4. Well, that was a solid 5 hours of entertainment. I quite enjoyed the first game. From our prospects, McDonough impressed me the most. He's a big kid who wins board battles, also has a hell of a shot. Madden seems really slight, I think he's still playing at 155 lbs. He had the secondary assists on the first goal, feeding the point. Rathbone had 3 rushes wherein he just took the puck end-to-end himself. He missed a few games recently but came back strong. Looking forward to next week's final.
  5. Tomorrow is the start of the Boston Beanpot tournament featuring the 4 Boston based NCAA teams (Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern and Harvard). The semi-final games are on TSN2 at 2 and 4:30pm PST tomorrow, with the finals being Feb 10th. I figured this tournament would interest some as we have Canucks prospects playing; namely Madden and McDonough for Northeastern and Rathbone for Harvard. I'm personally rooting for Northeastern and hoping for a three-peat. Gaudette will be there rooting for his alma mater: Here's a primer if you guys haven't heard of this tourney before: https://www.boston.com/sports/college-sports/2020/01/31/beanpot-hockey-date-time-name-trophy First game is tomorrow Northeastern vs. Harvard at 2pm on TSN 2

      Everyone loves a goalie fight.

  7. I share the opinion of others, don't fix what isn't broken. But if we were to change things up: Pearson - Pettersson - Miller Virtanen - Horvat - Boeser Roussel - Gaudette - Sutter Eriksson - Beagle - Schaller Bailley/MacEwen - either can go in for Eriksson if it's not working.
  8. They'll probably put MacEwen in ahead of Bailey, but i'd really like to see Bailey get some games. I don't think either will actually play though, Schaller will rotate in while these two watch from the press box. On a positive note, these call-ups only had to drive down to Brooklyn from Utica.
  9. We dominated the face-off dot tonight. Save for Gaudette who was at 20%. It'd be great if he could convert to wing.
  10. Bahaha, a month ago I proposed Hoglander + camp dump for deadline help and got torched for it. I'm glad to see people are coming around to moving a prospect for some cap relief. If we're adding a pick, might as well package Baer in there too.
  11. Flames lose in SO to the Blues. We're still 2 points clear at the top of the division.
  12. Let's get that 3rd line going! Gaudette, Roussel and Boeser all due.
  13. It's just some caller mucking around. My dad hit me up with a similar text on the 'potential trade'. Sillyness
  14. Demko stole it. big night for Virtanen, proving he belongs with that unit.
  15. Cull needs to go, that's the short and the long of it. That team, with that depth, with those forwards should not be losing.
  16. I think we're more concerned with signing our own college guys; namely Rathbone, Lockwood, and Madden. We're at 47/50 contracts, I not sure we can do much NCAA free agent shopping. Thanks for the research though.
  17. Some premises I can agree with: Gaudette on a 2x 2m 'show me', Virtanen for 3.5m (he's not getting more than Pearson). However, Benn just listed as 'gone', as in not traded or bought out is a curious thing, likewise with Baertschi. Maybe these guys terminate (why would they?), but otherwise a trade or buyout which would reflect on the cap regardless. I share the opinion of some others, that Tanev won't be brought back. It's a durability thing, and we can't afford him. The perceived cap issues are real. Not in the sense that we won't be able to keep our core, but that we won't improve. Even with your optimistic outlook, you're still ignoring ELC bonuses, of which Hughes and Petey will certainly hit. Our dead cap in Baertschi, Luongo, Spooner, Sutter and possibly Ferland will continue to hurt us. Motte gets another contract, you don't walk away from his effort. 1.5m maybe. It's likely that we'll have guys make the jump from Utica on friendly contracts. Rafferty is making 700k next year on a one-way, which would fit nicely on our D. Juolevi has improved of late. If we're keeping Stecher it would be from a QO of his current contract (+15%) for a value of 2.65m. Bring back Fantenberg cheaply, 1.5m maybe? We have to bring back Markstrom, 6m tops. Give him term if we have to. Anyways, just did the numbers and that would put us at 81.6m (100k over the upper limit, without accounting for bonus overages). I don't think any of the contracts are outlandish. That all said, we take a hit on D by losing Tanev and introducing 2 rookies replace him. The rest of the roster we merely keep, and don't improve upon.
  18. 5 prospects to sign: Hoglander, Madden, Lockwood, Rathbone, and Focht. All of them a year in Utica at least. It's actually a rather impressive pipeline if they can make the team in staggered years on ELCs; which apparently is the plan. I'm starting to see guys who might be adept 3rd and 4th liners over paying free agents 3m+. I'm guessing that Benning's comments on no perceived Cap problem include letting vets like Tanev/Stecher expire. How else do we fit in 10 more guys with 18 mil? So, therein lies the clear succession for next year - Juolevi and/or Rafferty making the squad.
  19. Gotta re-sign Markstrom. No way about it, need a starter. 6mil would be my tops though, I don't care about term. Have to fit 10 guys in under 18 mil - a chunk of that going to Marky, cap is still going to be tight.
  20. You just did this so you could write Boner.
  21. I'm thinking the Canucks reputation for signing college guys and allowing them to burn a year will work in our favour. It's probably been a factor in signing some of the FAs. Rathbone and Madden could both sign, though I'm unsure when roster restrictions lift.
  22. Is this a meme, or just trying to be a valley girl?
