Has anyone tried the 21 day sugar free detox? Although I did the modified vegan version for athletes, there is a paleo version for athletes as well. I don't think I've cut more weight, gained more energy and felt so good on any other meal plan. Wasn't counting calories either. Just wholesome, nutritous eating.

The thing about Tanev is that he is only 23, and has alot of room for growth. His physical conditioning is going to take time- probably into the mid-late 20's to really get big and strong. I think he has alot of room to develop his skill game too. With that said, maybe MG is trying to roll the dice like he did with Burrows and get a long term cap friendly contract done. Or perhaps they are trying to hammer out the details of a smaller contract. Who knows. Depends on what each side is looking for (which we have no clue of).

Got into NHL13 way late but 2 months into the game and I play it everyday. Definitely going to pick up NHL14. Picked up Shadowrun Returns for the PC a couple of weeks ago- very fun and good follow up to the beloved SNES game. Bought Hotline Miami a long time ago and finally installed it- holy crap! Visual stylings of Enter the Void crossed with the violence of Drive with a great soundtrack to boot-did I mention the soundtrack?

Yep. Lowering body fate percentage shouldn't be rushed or pushed to extreme levels. Nice and easy works.

If your diet is nutrionally sound (eating the right foods at the right times) you should really see benefits in terms of weight loss/muscle gains. Diet really is the make or break factor. If you're interested, search google for the "21 day sugar free detox". Basically a reduced sugar paleo diet. Try it out and I bet you will see some good results. There are modifications for athletes/and or plant based diets like myself.

Anerobic days are my fav
-
Agreed. I'm a technique person myself so I wouldn't attempt much of the excercises that I don't know without someone watching my alignment/form. I come from a boxing back ground, so anerobic work outs that focus on speed/power interest me. I usually stck to bodyweight/kettlebell excercises but lately have really been enjoying the movements in Olympic style lifting (but not with heavy weights). I can feel my explosiveness improving. Feels good head to toe as well.

Does anyone do/watch crossfit? I watched the women compete on TV today and it was awesome to see their awesome performances, not to mention most men would envy their physique let alone overall strength/anerobic capacity. Alot of my works outs are similar since I'm not a body builder type, but seeing crossfit on TV is very motivating to achieve a high level of fitness. I don't think I'd ever do crossfit personally, maybe on a individual performance level with my girlfriend where we could work towards personal bests. I should really start doing more pull up variations like they do.

Spare me your feelings. Given Stevens resume and what other players say about him, I would like to see him get a shot. -

Thanks for posting this- it was very illuminating example of what people have to say on the outside of things versus those in the know. Particularly like what the un-named player had to say. I really don't think people have to worry about a coach who can light a fire under their ass. I think the Canucks are already motivated. Two very lacklustre playoffs will do that, especially knowing that if things dont change on the ice then roster changes are certainly coming. What the Canucks need is a guy who can impliment systems that work for the players, and systems that get the most out of what the team has as a whole. Hearing that Stevens is a knowledgeable guy gives me the impression that perhaps he can bring in some fresh perspective post AV. And I don't think the players themselves want a guy who screams at them to get effort. What they want is effective direction and guidance. And perhaps AV had the right approach but what he tried to impliment wasn't enough. -

I'm still hoping that John Stevens is a serious candidate after the playoffs are over/LA is eliminated. Seems like a good fit for the Canucks. -

Could be right about this one. Good insight on #4- there being some familiarity between the two. CHI and DET are closest in terms of style. -

It can be very polarizing at times. At least with 1040 you get some interviews with who their critiquing lol! -

People are also forgetting that Tippett was a power play coach in LA. He is also a former player, and that can hopefully help him relate well with the players right off the bat. -

Despite what the critics say about him being an defensive-minded only coach, I would love to see what he can here. A guy like Tippet has more tricks up his sleeve I'm sure, and knows the Western Conference well. I don't care if the Canucks keep a shutdown style game as long as they can compete in the playoffs. -
"Drinking 25 grams of fast-digesting whey protein, all at once and immediately after exercise, increases muscle protein synthesis more than drinking 25 grams of whey protein over 3 hours after exercise." http://www.precisionnutrition.com/whey-vs-casein

You definitely don't need protein drinks etc if you are eating well and getting all your nutritional requirements from your meals alone. That said, if you are working out quite hard and on a daily basis, your body definitely needs proper nutrition inorder to recover and continue training effectively afterwards. I guess supplements like protein powders are just a specialized way of making sure your body gets what it needs. I like to get my nutrients from nutrient dense foods first, and on particularly hard days add something like a protein shake.

Yeah. You definitely need someother flavours in there to make is at least somewhat appetizing. Like mixed with hemp seed and dressing on a nice bed of salad Personally, if I am just going to have a protein shake (water + protein) I use VEGA's Sport Performance Protein. It is all plant based and unlike whey, there is no 'window' for using it e.g. immediately after excercise to get effective results. It consitently gets top marks from most sports nutritionists. And it doesn't taste like crap.
