  1. Having a sandwhich where I thought a wet rag was, followed by a no look squish my hands into my sandwhich move
  2. I gave Benning & co full autonomy to do things their way. His group had a lot of time and although dealing with COVID and related cap issues was a struggle, its his job as GM to navigate that. Ultimately, the team got off to a terrible start last season and it was unclear where this team was going. I liked JB as a person but he had a very old school approach to running the org and a new approach was needed. Similarly Ill give this mgmt group full autonomy to do things their way. They have their own share of difficulties to navigate and Ill give them the time/benefit of the doubt to try and do it. So far, I like the things they have been doing.
  3. Mike McKenna had really positive things to say about Dickinson as a person/athlete.  Let’s hope last year was a down year indeed/he bounces back.

@Canucks Curse and just a little bit of finish? He was getting a bunch of scoring chances. An extra goal or assist here and there would go a long way I bet. He definitely feeds off of confidence.

Dont put him in a position to fail (center).  He was used mainly as a winger in Dallas.  Put him in a position to succeed.  Use him as a defensive winger.

He is a PKing winger, I think he will bounce back this year and be only slightly overpaid.

  4. Id also just like to mention OEL is an elite passer too. I think youre right that QH’s mobility is a +, but OELs passes are so quick and on the tape. His wrist shot as we’ve seen creates havoc. Its a tough call really. Both have their strengths. I was wondering though if QH’s mins are better reserved for tough 5 on 5 or PK mins. He’s young and got the energy to do it compared to OEL. And Id be curious how the PP does with OEL qb-ing it. If there’s no drop off-win win.
  5. Happy to see it. Everyone was writing off this kid too. I’ll definitely be tuning into the FIN games now.
  6. (Sorry Motte) Hughes is awesome I know that. But OEL is a dang good PP quarterback as well. Im curious whether OEL playing PP1 could shift Hughes focus to 5 on 5 & PK/PP2. Hughes is at that point in his career where he can really be an impact player playing the most difficult minutes. OEL I think to be the most effective needs to have his mins managed/role shifted a bit. My questions are: Does Hughes need to be on PP1 to be an offensive difference maker? Does PP1 need Hughes to be successful? Can OEL effectively replace QH on that unit? Could we see a more effective PP2 with Hughes on it? Would the shift help the Canucks/Hughes/OEL be more overall productive in terms of fatigue/production? Discuss.
  7. I do think think trading JTM a developing C that can slot in the third line would be the way to go. Lundell (FLA) Newhook (COL) Drury & Suzuki (CAR) Chytll (NYR) If they go for tweeners from CAR example, re-sign Lammikko. Or heck re-sign Lammikko and trade for Lysell from BOS!
  8. GMs will look at the player and their context. Toews in a reduced or specialized role on a better team might still be enticing for some GMs if the acquisition cost is low in comparison to JTM
  9. cheers and lets just hope they dont impact the market if JTM is still a Canuck after the Xmas mark
  10. I think contending teams would still consider a player like Toews a very good add if the price is significantly reduced compared to Miller imo.
  11. Im hoping adding players like IM helps the Canucks forecheck. They didnt really have that chip and chase threat last season. This should hopefully help players like Garland who can support really well/make plays in the offensive zone.
  12. Sillinger is as close as you can get to untouchable for CBJ.
  13. Toews/Kane might be traded this year as well. Doesnt help the JTM market
  14. Acquiring a young RHD would be nice, but maybe also a pipe dream. A young C that can slot in on the third line/develop intop a top 6 C would also be a great add.
  15. guilty until proven innocent eh FTR Im not saying Jake was a choir boy either. Put himself in a situation (among other things) that for all intents and purposes ruined his NHL career
  16. Squid Games Fun. I was intrigued by some of the deeper themes of the show. Still on the fence about the ending though.
  17. Again, nothing is for certain. That’s all I have been advocating (for a bunch of reasons). I can see a bunch of different outcomes some positive some negative. Ive read commentary that the return CGY got from FLA was egregious. Im not sold (yet).
  18. regarding Newhook/Girard for example, what if only 1/2 players you mention with each trade were available- would you be ok with that? At this point I think I would be. If the Canucks could extra on top of that-even better
  19. gatekeeping trade talk-must be getting close to a 1000!
