This would be excellent if it happened -
Interesting Canucks.

[proposal] UFA signing Jujhar Khaira

I liked him in EDM, but he seems to play a less nasty game ever since the concussions (the few times I watched CHI play). -
[discussion] big summer tocchett
Angry Goose replied to Angry Goose's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
The point of the post was whether you would pay assets to trade players, or, see what Tocchett and co can do to help for a season? As I stated in the post, trade flexibility gets a whole lot easier by the TDL/next off season. The question is whether you can roll with more or less the same roster until then. -

Mod: If this belongs in Canucks Talk have at it -
(Barring any legit hockey trades) Im not really into the idea of spending assets to move players, especially if they’re decent players like Garland or Boeser. Myers and Beauvillier will probably get moved at some point in the season/TDL. So why not just see whether Tocchett’s message gets through over the summer? Realistically he just needs to squeeze as much as he can out of this group for 1 season, before the cap jumps in 24-25. And who knows, maybe we see marked improvement under his guidance. I think this team showed it can put the puck in the net-it just needs to be decent defensively. If not, its not like we arnt used to seeing this team bellyflop either. Realistically, once the Canucks sort out their LTIR situation they need to try find a depth C that can help on the PK. Whether thats a low cost option through free agency or trade Im all ears. I was team trade half the team this off season but that aint happening. My hope now is that they have a better year, heck maybe even a decently competitive year that can help lead to future flexibility/improvement. We’re counting on you Tocc.

[Signing] Kings re-sign Vladislav Gavrikov

He wants to become a Russian oligarch -
check out these updated ranking by Tony Ferrari at THN. This is definitely a draft to be looked backed at in 5-10 years. https://twitter.com/thetonyferrari/status/1665780531785523201?s=46&t=0BLVwOFAqstuxqWnBc3lLQ

yeah im not as worried about points as I am with how he can impact the game without production. If he able to keep improving his forecheck, ability to disrupt plays, pressure etc. I think his points will eventually come. Puck battles, puck pressure are the Canucks biggest weakness imo. Once that improves I see a much better team on the horizon.

[proposal] nuclear option
Angry Goose replied to Angry Goose's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
What if PA went and traded JTM too-I did say it was a nuclear option right…. And I dont understand what you’re saying about CBJ-they have JG for 6 years and Laine for 3 more years. Sillinger at some point if they go long term. JK said it himself what the conditions were for a trade. This was a hypothetical situation if say EP pulls a Tkachuk (not saying he will) or some other hypothetical scenario (maybe PA goes mad scientist) It was more a question of value. Tkachuk brought in two really good but older players-would the above deal be in that ballpark? -
Just for laughs, consider: Elias pettersson is traded. Jarmo K says he will only trade 3OA for a C under 25 signed for 5+ years. Canucks sign and trade EP to CBJ To VAN 2023 3OA (select Leo C) Kent Johnson To CBJ EP This would definitely set the Canucks back in the short term, but you gain 2 future first line players.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Jett Woo
Angry Goose replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Some players are late bloomers though. Look at Gustav Forsling. Bounced around in the AHL at age 23. Started to find his game in the NHL at age 24. Other players like Alex Burrows didnt find their NHL game till like age 26. Woo is an interesting case. By no means flashy. Physical, defensive and competent puck mover have to be his goals. Those are the benchmarks we really need to see this year. Is he still waiver exempt? But to your point some players just dont make it. -
So if the Canucks pick at #11, my list for who might be available in order: Benson Reinbacher Moore Barlow Wallinder ASP Benson is my boom/bust pick. One of Reinbacher or Moore would be a coup at 11OA. Barlow is a safe pick imo, and will be an excellent Tkachuk type of player. Ive got Wallinder rated higher than ASP- crazy I know but my hunch is he will become a minute munching all situations type of player.
-
Wood is probably the most intriguing prospect for me (as a Canucks selection). He has a legit boom/bust potential because of his deficiencies, but if he can overcome that/prove the skeptics wrong he could be a fantastic player. I like the development path he is taking given that though.
-
***my bad I was thinking of something else. ASP was playing in the SHL this year.
-
Youre right about ceiling in terms of offence, ASP looks like a Swedish Hughes while Willander plays more of a mature 2 way game. TW does have skills though. The big question is how do they project at the pro level. I could see Willander being more of an all situations player versus ASP. And my hope is the Canucks can trade back a bit (say top 15/16) and still draft him but who knows. Either way, some good options for the Canucks it looks like.
-
DET has 3 2nd round picks including the one the Canucks traded. I wonder if the Canucks could move back to #17, get their 2nd back and perhaps move a player in the process? Stevie Y is as shrewd as they come tho.
-
I like them both as well, but Willander screams future top 4 d to me. RH as well. Going to be a really solid player imo
-
Assuming whatever bad blood that existed is gone, I was wondering about how the Canucks could get the most out of Lucic. Would he would be ok with load management/being a 13th forward? He’s played long enough and is at that age where he doesnt need to play 70+ games. Heck he would probably do better with some rest btw games.
