  1. Oh agreed, Forsling will be in the SEL for a couple years yet. I didn't realize you were referring to the Comets roster. I see one of Forsling or Subban filling a role like Weber on the team now. PP specialist, but only getting bottom 6 5vs5 minutes, being too small to contain the best of the west.
  2. More like Cederholm Subban Tryamkin Forsling Why put both trees and both shrimps on the same pairings?
  3. Don't forget Jordan Schroder's performance in the World Jrs, he holds the record for most points (overall) by any US born player. Also in 2009 Cody Hodgson outscored Tavares and Eberle. Hell Anton Rodin got 10 points in 6 games in 2010. I would say that while it does showcase some skill, it is not indicative of success at the NHL level. Nylander, Forsling, Domi and Petan may be tearing it up now, but it's guys with speed AND size and strength like Virtanen that help you win in the playoffs, especially in the West.
  4. He was pretty solid today, the first goal as was said was scored on a 5 on 3. The second goal was scored off an American defender just as a penalty expired, third goal was a double deflection pp goal. So not really Demko's fault. He made a minor mistake on the 2nd but the defence in front of him did a terrible job of clearing the net. Not a bad showing but not as good as against Canada.
  5. I don't think anyone thought that Gagner was enough to get Yandle, but with a 1st round pick and a prospect? Sure Gagner is not a 2nd line centre I'd want on my team, but MacT sucks more.
  6. Making room for Connolly and Drouin I guess. Going to take a run at Erhoff or Niskanen?
  7. He stole Holland's mojo... Detroit hasn't been so shrewd since he left (or maybe it was Nill).
  8. Poor kid. If it's for Yandle, MacT should be drawn and quartered.
  9. One of Markstrom or Ericksson is gone. Doesn't benefit either to be backup to Lack.
  10. Odd move to dump Gagner now, if it was a straight buyout Gagner costs more than Purcell...
  11. I was just wondering the same thing. Purcell is wasted on the 3rd line. Yakupov and a pick for Letang Pretty bad value for Gagner, I was sure they'd get more.
  12. Dougherty or McKeown (slipping in final ISS) would be sweet if he's still around, but I think that Cornel is most likely to be a solid 2nd round pick. Acquiring a 2nd pick in the 2nd round would be great for a guy like Karlsson or Glover. If the Kelser trade goes down (10th + 24/38 + prospect) Ehlers, Virtanen, Dougherty/Mckeown, Cornel would be quite the haul to help TL and JB turn this ship around.
  13. Mathias is horrible at faceoffs, if he can't improve that he'll never be more than a 4th line centre or 3rd line winger.
  14. Because fans need something to be interested this year. The people that think that Kesler or Edler will net 2015 1st picks AND top prospects are out to lunch. There is value and talent in this draft.
  15. I don't buy into the Etem hype, but what is a fact is that he'll be a bigger draw in Cali than Vancouver. A PR jewel. If Kesler goes it should be for Theodore, 2014 1st (10th via Ott), and 2014 2nd (38th via Tor) So we'd have 6th, 10th, 36th, 38th. Nylander, Virtanen, Glover, Dougherty, take Smith with 66th. Hell of a haul.
  16. Rumour going around that TO won't be resigning TJ Brennan, 2014 Eddie Shore winner (Best AHL defenceman). Not optimistic that Corrado will play third pairing in Van next season? He looked much better in his second stint at the end of the season.
  17. Travis Green might though. Utica needs a few better d-men.
  18. Jack Glover for sure, don't see many of the defencemen in Utica making the jump anytime soon. Andersson, Tommernes are 3rd pairing at best, Sauve is bust. Hope that Hunter Smith is still around at 66. Ritchie - 6'2, 230lbs Glover - 6'3, 192lbs Smith - 6'6, 209lbs Boston model indeed.
  19. I'm really hoping that someone in the top 5 (Islanders) takes Ehlers, dropping Dal Colle to us. Like others have mentioned Fleury could be an excellent addition to the team. That big smooth skating dman is one of the main desperate team needs. Not sure if I'd risk it though if Ehlers/Dal Colle/Draisaitl are still available. Getting Ottawa's pick from Anaheim would solve that for sure, with our history it's almost a shame to pick at 6th, given there is no consensus at all from 6-15. I'd be ecstatic if Glover or Karlsson were still available at 36.
  20. And Tom Gaglardi laughs and laughs and laughs. Organization depth in management and talent. Jim Nill Lindsay Ruff Willie Dejardins
