That would be a fun lineup, but I think Virtanen makes the team. That means Gaunce probably is first call up.Disagree with the forward group somewhat. Paying Dorsett 2.65 mill to sit on the bench? not happening
Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Baertschi-Horvat-Vrbata
Gaunce-Bonino-Burrows
Dorsett-Richardson-Hansen
Defence and Goalies are spot on
Edit: or Gaunce plays fourth line centre...cassels is a darkhorse for that spot too.

I think one of hansen, higgy or kassian will be gone next year, I see Virtanen in that 4th line winger spot. Then perhaps the value coming back from the trade is a fourth line centre, unless they choose to go with a rookie...ie/ cassels, McCann or even Gaunce. However if they do that, I worry we might have too much youth on that 4th line and not enough vet presence.I'd love it if Kassian was with the twins and Baer on the second but I doubt that happens at least at the start of the season (maybe later on in it) but...
Sedin, Sedin, Kassian
Baer, Bonino, Vrbata
Burrows, Horvat, Hansen (Baer and Burr could easily swap here as well)
Higgins, ???, Dorsett
...would be what I'd like to see.
Though I have a feeling WD's going to start with...
Sedin, Sedin, Burrows
Higgins, ( ), Bonino, Vrbata
Baer, Horvat, Hansen
Dorsett, ???, Kassian
..and I'll cry a little that Higgins is still on the 2nd

I was pretty sure, and really hoped, Horvat was going to be on the team last year. This year, after seeing the organization's success at grooming Horvat, I have no doubt that Virtanen will make the team, starting on the fourth line...assuming he continues to develop in the off season and not take things for granted. Its in his hands, and I think he makes the team!
-
I think youll see Horvat at 3C and cassels fighting for the 4C spot...if Rrichardson isnt signed. If he is, then its down to utica for Cassels. For Gaunce, I don't see him fighting for a C spot, they've been grooming him for wing, and I don't think they would give a spot to Gaunce and Virtanen. So I feel you'll see those two fight it out for a winger spot on the fourth line.

I can certainly see the physical similarities, both are like runaway Mack trucks out there. Offensively there are no comparisons, Lindros was much, much more gifted.Dynamic body checks that remind me of Lindros and how he would destroy guys.
A lot of similarities, I hope it translates to the nhl level.
Edit: Thanks for the link, that was fun!

Some great hits, havent been able to see the assist. Its truly impressive how explosive his hitting can be. Sometimes it looks like he barely touches a guy, like the hit into the net tonight, and the player goes flying. Going to be fun to watch him grow!

I honestly feel it will play out just as horvat did. Make the team, play sheltered fourth line minutes and as the season progresses, minutes and reponsibilities progress. If he was able to go to Utica, then I would send him there, but seeing as he cannot, then I think easing into the bigs in a sheltered role is best for his development. IMHO
-
I think he'll be on the team. He has NHL size, speed, grit, and shot. Easily 4th line capable, learn the ropes with no pressure and grow in a professional environment, just like they have done with Horvat. The only issue I can see holdi him back is his defensive maturity.
-
Disagree, looking at his numbers, you could argue he is already a franchise #1 dman, and only 19years old. Generational talent, I would dare to say.Could still peak at a #2D

A whopping 17:30 mins tonight! Wow, can't wait to see where he is at by the end of the season. I was looking at a comparable of Richardson the other day, and he is almost on par with Richardson in most categories. He has caught him quicker than I had hoped. Great rookie season so far!!
-
Don't think so. I think he has to remain on the nucks roster for the remainder of the season. Some sort of waiver rule.can he even be sent down?
-
4 points in 6 games...he's starting to catch fire!

He's got great spirit and heart. For a talented ki he loves to be in the middle of the scrums.

Demko has been a tasting this entire tournament. Great prospect for us!!

He has looked solid against the Slovaks today. It is the Slovaks, but whatever, there were some good saves made.

Wow, domi has a hell of a release

Great hit by Virtanen to start the play the other way.

Bob Mackenzie had some good things to say about Virtanen in the intermission. Always like it when I hear Bob praise our players. He's one the few opinions I actually pay attention to.

I tune into the game and it's 1-0, less than 5mins later it's 4-0. I should probably be watching more games, it's my patriotic duty!
-
Great goal by Virtanen!!
-
Looks like I tuned in at the right time. 3-0 Canada
-
What number is Virtanen wearing, first time I've been able to time in.
Nvm...found him
-
I'm going to go out a limb and predict he finished the season with 20-25 points. Pretty damn good for a 19yr old defensive 4th liner.
-
Wow, that's a pretty out there statement. Time to put on that tin foil hat.I just gave an example above of Richardson staying on through 2 full shifts... there have been many of these type of things going on lately not to mention the fact that Hansen has passed the puck to Horvat exactly once so far this whole season!!!
Seriously Bo is getting screwed by some of the Vets. period .
