  1. Well, it's possible that if we make the playoffs next year, we will be far from contending for the Cup and even farther away when we need to give Hronek a raise that will likely double his salary. Buying 1.2 years of cost control on an RHD due a big raise makes zero sense given our current position unless they have a plan they can actually implement that includes a lot more changes, otherwise, PA has just lengthened time to make us truly competitive. This deal would make a lot of sense if Hronek was signed for another 3-5 years but he is not. I don't understand the people who think this team can ever compete when all we ever do is give raises to the same cast of characters. Myers is going to come off the books and EP and Hronek will eat up the Cap space, then what? What's more likely? Hronek makes us a contender or he makes us slightly better while continuing to make our Cap situation worse?
  2. I'm not sure how what you said has anything to do with what I said of the players Timrafan listed the ones that are gifted aren't particularly young and the ones that are young aren't particularly gifted, most of the players you bring up aren't on his list of young and gifted players. I didn't say anything about drafting but, if you want my opinion of what I think they should have done I'll give it to you now. I think we should have had one year (this year) where we collected as many draft picks as we possibly could without trading our key guys of EP, QH, and Demko. Because even if management can manage to trade their way into having a good enough team that we can contend for the Cup, we will most likely end up in the same situation we did in 2011, where we had an amazing team that had zero depth in the minors to fill in when we inevitably run into injury problems. That was Mike Gillies failing and it looks like it will be PA failing too if he can even manage to put together a champion-caliber team the way he is trying to do it currently.
  3. What's your definition of Young? and Gifted? Cause the ones that are gifted aren't particularly young and the young ones aren't particularly gifted. I'll give my definitions Young 23 or younger. Gifted top 6 forward top 4 defense.
  4. We thought Benning liked to trade picks, PA is like hold my beer Jim this is how you trade picks. In just over a year he's traded a 1st,2x 2nd, 3rd, 4th and a 6th and I feel like I'm probably forgetting 1. Oh yeah a 7th and I feel like a 5th was traded but you get the idea.
  5. I feel like if the Canucks prospect system was an ice cream shop the only flavor we have is vanilla.
  6. Got nothing bad to say about this trade even if it doesn't work out it seems like a pretty good gamble.
  7. If someone was pissed off at me and called me a C.....Sucker, I would not take that as a homophobic slur nor would I be offended. Society has become so weak.
  8. It's not just Hockey the same kinds of stuff happened when I used to play rugby, it's also common in American fraternities etc. It's all pretty sick stuff. Fortunately I didn't get it too bad they just shaved my head (the shaving of the head wasn't so bad being jumped by 8-10 guys and having them hold you down, not knowing what was about to happen was the bad part) but others on my team got it worse, It stopped after it happened to me, I think the coaches found out and put a stop to it.
  9. You might be right, saying star was probably pushing it, but I'm sure the expectation was he would improve or at worse stay the same instead of getting worse.
  10. Well to be fare at the time Boeser signed his second contract he looked like he was going to be a star in the league and the stupid rule about constant raises has been removed unfortunately Brock still fell under it. Since signing his second contract he has been on a steady decline rather than progressing. The simple fact is that Brock wasn't living up to his last contract so giving him a raise was a huge gamble that hasn't paid off. It would seem letting him walk or just eating his one year at 7.5 would have been the better choice, and not going to lie it seemed like the pretty obvious choice to me. IMO and of course this is just a guess and it's somewhat understandable given his fathers situation is that Brock doesn't take his offseason training very seriously. Guys that come into camp in shape get injured less often and yes that includes freak hand injures and the like. Being quicker, stronger and more flexible reduces the chances of all types of injures. The end result is they took a gamble on Brock and they probably should have made Brock take a gamble on himself by only signing him to a one year deal, now we are stuck with an asset with little to no value, vs an asset we could have retained on for a few months and got a decent return. I'm hoping PA and JR have learnt there lesson now that they have traded Horvat, But there first 8-9 months might be the worst we have seen from a management group and that is saying a lot.
  11. Just listened to an interview with Ratu, he speaks perfect English with no accent that I can pick up, sounds like he grew up in North America.
  12. I'm not a huge fan of how JR and PA have performed up until this point, that being said this trade seems like a C plus to a B trade to me that could move up depending on how they use that draft pick. Judging by there last draft I'm not too hopeful but if they have a good draft it could set up for years.
  13. When your rookie season is the best season you've had and you make $6.6 million dollars because of it there isn't much good to say no matter how you try to look at it. Brock has been and continues to be a disappointment on the Ice. Off the Ice he is a first class person but that only goes so far.
  14. It wont surprise me at all if it takes till 2029 to turn things around and 2033 wouldn't be that much of a shock either really.
  15. I find JR and PA very unlikeable, so the fact they are also incompetent, puts the final nail in the coffin for me. JB was also incompetent but at least he was likeable, and I cheered for him. I'm looking forward to our next management group.
  16. Our front office doesn't even know what book they are supposed to be reading.
  17. This is the first Canucks team in 30+ years where I honestly don't care if any of the players on the team now are on it next year. I don't think this is a team I think it's a collection of individuals all looking out for themselves first. The only guy who I think is a team first guy is Schenn, which would probably make him my favorite player which is sad cause he is a 6th defenseman. I'm a Canucks fan for life but I personally can't wait till we move on from this group. They all want to squeeze the team for every last dollar half of them don't show up at the beginning of the season ready to play and the ones that do, don't show up the following year. This group is sad. This management group is also sad, which is making me sad lol.
  18. Don't worry you wont be missing it anytime soon.
  19. How about they say what really happened instead, that they misappropriated the cap that they had, which completely unbalanced the team and then maybe throw some praise at Bruce for doing the best he can with the messed up roster they gave him to work with.
  20. I don't consider them smart at all really, I think at best they are equal to JB, so far. They signed BB, JT and IM to $20 million worth of cap thats almost 25% of the cap and they have shipped out 3 draft pick and still haven't addressed our biggest weakness which is defense. Not to mention instead of taking any blame for there failures they blame it all on the coach, something JB never stooped too. I'm hoping they get better but so far I think of them as arrogant, ignorant and unprofessional. I agree it was time to move on from JB, but at least he didn't make constant excuses for sucking and try to blame it on someone else. That is something that really bugs me about these guys and I doubt I will get past it. I have liked management groups in the past and I've been indifferent to some this is the first that I have outright disliked.
  21. Because Alvin was assessing them, and we all know that takes 10x longer then any normal GM in the league.
