  1. Aqua kind of said he meddles without saying he meddles? "If it makes sense I'll support it." Smyl kind of winced when he said that and had to interrupt Aqua a few times from not saying too much.
  2. Having a GM + President combo is on the table. They'll look at everything.
  3. Sounds like a rebuild will be up to the new GM. They probably want to see if the group can have success or not with Boudreau.
  4. Landeskog is also better defensively and is a more much more physical player. They even got the same career faceoff percentage though Horvat take way more draws.
  5. For real though Chris MacFarland is probably the best candidate. He is Avs AGM and has been credited with helping with the quick turnaround from bottom to the top of the league, on top of filling up the prospect cupboards in Colorado. He values cap as a key asset. He's been the behind the scenes guy in Colorado and Sakic's right hand man. I would want an experienced president though like Lombardi, Rutherford, Tallon, etc.
  6. I would rather have Dale Tallon or Dean Lombardi over Berg any day of the week.
  7. I could see him going top 5 personally. I think Jiricek has a good chance at the top 10 too. Jiricek has an interesting package(size/speed/skill) and potential. He looks like a potential stud D as well. Should be interesting to see how Nemec does at the Olympics. He’s predicted as an extra D there so he probably get a few games at least. He’s on the WJC roster too with Jiricek.
  8. The titIe of the thread should be changed to Motte, does he really need us?
  9. Is he gonna re-sign is the question. He’s gonna be a young UFA.
  10. What are you talking about? I don’t see a solidified 2-5 yet personally. Nemec has ranged from 2-5 in multiple rankings. He could very well be a BPA. A lot of season left to see whether or not that’s the case. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/589605/simon-nemec
  11. By a lot of accounts and reports I have found he plays a good game below the dots. He isn’t afraid to get into the dirty areas. Speed is a bit of an issue being an average skater. That’s his biggest and only real knock I can find.
  12. Unless it’s Nemec who’s slated as a potential top 5 pick or Jiricek who’s probably one of the only other D potentially going top 10. Hard to pass up on some of the forwards that could go 2-5 though… but no real standouts as BPA for me yet. A few guys have cases for #2. The top 10 will be forward heavy for sure. I could see only 2 D going but a lot remains to be seen. Next few months should help make things more clear.
  13. Still producing at the SHL 10 goals and 10 assists (20 points) in 25 games
  14. Probably not. Halak would have to play good enough to warrant a trade either way. I reckon we could maybe take a lesser goalie back in the trade too.
  15. That's why if we have to trade both Horvat and Miller we should try to get a young C back in one of the trades. C and D prospects would be our focus as well moving forward. Hog/Petey(unless he steps up as C)/Pod/Garland maybe Boeser? make up a lot of our top 9 in wingers moving forward
  16. I guess DiPietro or Silovs. There would be opportunity for either. Whether or not they're ready for that opportunity I can't say. After TD there wouldn't be many games for the backup to play I reckon. I mean Edler's still playing well at 35 albeit in a slightly lesser role. You never know.
  17. I think this year will determine the direction of the team for the near future. If this group proves incapable as a whole we have to make changes. There's also another big factor The ticker on whether or not players on expiring contracts and UFA status want to stick around. 2023 Miller and Horvat are UFAs and will likely be the top UFAs that year. If they both don't plan on sticking around we have to move them. To lose them for nothing would be catastrophic.
  18. We need good PK forwards and bottom 6 centers which we don't have. We also lack grit on top of defensive play with our bottom 6. Acquiring the D we need is pretty tough to do, especially when you have no cap and you'll continue to have no cap for a while. Nobody is gonna give us want we want for our struggling pieces. We pretty much have to win with the group we have or reset and reshape the roster which would require some sort of rebuild.
