The familiarity of already working with the Canucks(very briefly) and already coaching with Boudreau at the Spengler Cup makes Scott Walker a sensible pick as a part of Boudreau's staff. They've likely already have a good understanding of what they want to bring together.
Scott Walker use to be a developmental coach for 2 years with the Canucks and was Director of Player development with us 1 year. He had some minor advisor/Gm roles after that. He is also the current President of the Guelph Storm. Overall he has done a lot throughout different leagues CHL, NHL, Olympics, WJC
He is coming with Boudreau probably because they were gonna coach together already in the Spengler Cup.
Might not have been a ownership decision but a new management one. It looks like JB could be gone as well. Coaching news could have broke out a little earlier.
We had an aging core when JB said he wanted to quickly retool.
We have Petey, Hughes, Pod, Hog, Demko, Boeser? and all the other prospects in the system already.
So not at all the same thing.
Boudreau's offensive style fits what we got better than other coaches.
We aren't gonna be grindy defensive team. We don't have the players for it. We're gonna have to outscore our problems and pray to our lord and saviour Demko to stand on his head.
