  1. Dependant on injuries/LTIR and us not re-signing depth guys like Dermott, Bear, Schenn, etc. We could be compliant yeah. We'd have to lose a bit off our roster. We'd have to go pretty cheap in the backup G, extras bottom 6 and 3rd pair. Meaning we'd lose some depth and wouldn't do anything to upgrade. If Poolman/Pearson come back then it creates problems.
  2. They either should have made the coaching change earlier and try to battle for the playoffs or keep Boudreau. The way we went about it put us in no mans land. They were critiquing Boudreau since last off-season. He clearly wasn't there guy so it's not like they decided midway through the season. They could and should have made it earlier if they wanted a chance at playoffs this year.
  3. Boston most definitely says no. McAvoy is definitely worth so much more. Top 5 in Norris last 2 years and top 10 year before, Probably top 10 again this year. He is a #1 RD at 25 and getting paid like one. Other teams would definitely offer much more.
  4. They'll be pretty up against the cap after re-signing K.Miller and will have other spots where they need to fill and fill relatively cheap. Lindgren is also right around the corner. I can't see them being interested in what we got. They can't really take cap back. Can't see them trading Schneider since he has an ELC one more year. That's pretty useful for them. Kakko also cheap for what he brought this year. I could see a rebuilding team try to pry Laf if Rags can't get him to a deal they can handle.
  5. I think our situation negates any sort of possibility of getting a top 4 RD in this sort of deal unless we add. A RD lesser than top 4 sure.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if 11th overall could be in play but I reckon it would have to be more than just a dump deal. Like getting a 3rd C with good cap, Lesser pick, etc. They seem pretty set on improving the team ASAP by any means possible.
  7. It will likely be a costly move they make to clear cap. There's no way around it. No team is gonna look at our situation wanting to do us favours. They're gonna see opportunity to take advantage of our situation.
  8. Maybe we suffering from TURD Traumatic Unrelenting Rutherford Disorder.
  9. Accept Reality. Life sucks and so does Canuck luck.
  10. Agree to disagree but I’ll make one thing clear. I am no cheerleader here. I am just making an objective opinion, setting aside my biases and subjective preferences of our players and team. Basing my points on the facts and reality. I love Petey but I am not gonna be blinded by him in conservations such as this. When we play the Avs I hope he breaks Makar’s ankles. The only type of person who’d put Petey as #1 overall in his draft year is someone who can’t set aside their biases or really doesn’t watch Makar, see his impact and accomplishments in comparison to Petey. It’s not close in comparison. No one else would have him over Makar. Not yet anyway. Perhaps down the road. Canucks till I die, even if I don’t agree with direction, but have to respect the better talent that’s out there just like our players do on a nightly basis. I love hockey.
  11. You gonna change to tank for celebrini?
  12. You have that second 1st and four 2nds. The number of D increase from 20-60ish. Spend a couple 2nds and that 2nd 1st on D and probably almost double up the quality of the D pool. Oliver Bonk out of London is probably a good pick with one of those. RD high IQ solid defensively. I like his game and want him but we don’t have a pick in the 20-40 range anymore.
  13. Cap space. Aka sacrificial lamb since nobody will take anyone else without picks and retention besides Miller who’s a no go by management likely.
  14. Yeah I saw how he kind of wanted to follow a similar path as Crosby/Mackinnon where they chose to spend some playing time in the US. I remember reading that about him. His dad works for the Golden State Warriors. Something to do with health. Would be a great 1-2 punch. Didn’t you draft some D top 10 last year too? That’s a good start on D. I would be spending more picks this draft on D as well.
  15. I think we’re up shits creek with trying to create cap. The league knows it. I don’t think anyone’s taking anybody without retention and a sweetener besides Beauv and Miller and I don’t think we’re trading Miller.
  16. Better than buying out someone like OEL. I think trading the 1st is much better. Not like we just get cap back either. 11th in a big draft has more value than that.
  17. With the amount of picks you have accumulated for the next 3 years I would also be looking at trades as well. Trades that help moving forward. Probably start with getting a couple linemates for Bedard. Gives him someone to play with and fans something to see even if it is a 1-line team. Maybe a top 5 pick next year. Especially whoever that #1 D is, would help round out the core. Or even Celebrini the other potential 1st overall Vancouver kid next year. Just play your cap right and wait for the right trades the next few years. Draft and develop the next couple then add vets to help.
  18. Either way the west got 3 of the top 4 picks. Could turn the tables down the line with east currently dominating the league.
  19. You must be smiling. Still a 2-3 years away with all the picks accumulated, development needed and right trades sought after.
  20. Trade it for some serious cap relief if we’re going all out.
  21. I have already made that irrelevant my pointing out the impact Makar made in the standings in comparison. It’s a night and day difference that’s inarguably more of an impact than Peter has ever made. The accomplishments and silver also don’t lie. Rose-coloured glasses won’t save you here Deb despite your best efforts. I applaud you for your unrelenting and in turn irrational resolve as a homer.
  22. I made a point that makes that irrelevant. They were a bubble team even with that performance for back to back years. Then Makar comes in and they go from 17th to 3rd in the league. Try to water down his impact all you want but the reality says otherwise as does the Conn Smythe, Norris and Cup. Petey hasn’t proved not even half as much and that’s mainly because he just broke out. Maybe in 3-5 years he can have more accomplishments that evens it out but Makar has pulled way ahead because he came out making way more of an impact earlier.
  23. The feats and impact says otherwise. Two years at 8th in the west and 17th in the league before Makar joined. Year before that they were 30th. As good as Petey has been he hasn’t had any he same impact as Makar yet. Not saying never but Makar came out of the gate swinging, making more of an impact and the accomplishments early on help tell the truth. Petey following more of a Mackinnon type development. 3-4 years then boom.
  24. Mackinnon peaked two years prior in 2017-18 and they still struggled despite his play. Makar joined the team in 2019-20 when they became true contenders.
  25. They’ve accumulated a lot. I probably see buffalo be the next team to take the next step since they are further along already but Fantilli makes things smoother for Anaheim. They’ll probably be next team after buffalo. They better off than most rebuilding teams.
