This next homestand after this game will be telling. We will be spending the next 17 days at home with only 7 games to play. There will be more than enough time to practice and make adjustments. They will need to be better. There will be no excuse after that. This roadtrip has brought about concern moving into that.

I don't understand how a PP with Petey, Miller, Horvat and Hughes is so abysmal. I don't know why Boeser isn't on PP#1. Just put Boeser where Miller is and have 2 one-timer options it's easy to cover Petey if you don't have Boeser to worry about on the opposite side. Miller/Horvat are big boys and should be around the net. We aren't gonna making the playoffs if our special teams are the way they are. PK lets the other team build momentum and PP kills our own momentum. Early concerns.

( PROPOSAL) DYLAN STROME FROM THE HAWKS
Junkyard Dog replied to garthsbutcher's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Strome would be a better 3rd C if we want 3 scoring lines and he is 47.2% on faceoffs in his career. More of a playmaker than a scorer but he’d be good for our young players to play with and our 2nd unit PP. It really depends what the Hawks want. His value has dropped a bit but he’s likely still valued as a middle-6 C turning 25 this season. -

That’s what I was implying. PK let the other team build momentum and the PP killed ours. It isn’t winning hockey. -

We’ve already witnessed with Boeser too through contracts and injury. -

Overall I will wait till the end of the home stand to fully express how I feel. We would be 13 games in at that point. Right now I have concerns based off how we have played thus far. 5v5 has been slightly good save for last game but special teams haven’t inspired confidence and are probably a key reason why our stars are struggling offensively. PK is probably not doing any favours to our checking forward’s/defence’s confidence either. Whenever we have built momentum 5v5 we’ve killed it whenever special teams arise. That cannot happen. -
I also mentioned Shapiro who spoke at UBC that has almost 2 million views in years on that speech on YouTube that was a Canadian channel, not his own. He is much more hated here yet has a good following. Like the states too people tried to stop him from speaking. If your definition of the US and Canada being considerably different(If that is what you’re implicating) is a single slight ratio difference between the amount of people here and there that follow and disagree with one person’s political ideas, especially when that person has made similar controversial headlines in multiple countries(US/Canada/UK/Scandinavian countries), then I can’t say I agree wholeheartedly. A difference in how we both differentiate. It seems like a small thing to point out, while not taking into consideration the grand scope that I was implying. We’re very much the same in a lot more ways than we are different IMO.

Are you sure about that? These forums alone had a bunch of people defending him when he was battling addiction, including me to an extent(although I don’t agree with everything he says). Not everyone in the US likes him either, nor the UK for that matter. He has followers and people who do not agree with him everywhere. A guy even more immensely hated in Ben Shapiro even was able to speak at UBC back in 2018. We’re also poralized with what the US does. What they do and how they are have an influence to us here in Canada. How much of an influence could be worthy of discussion. We are different in ways and similar in ways also. Overall though if you look at it through another lens, say being from separate country, they’ll likely see more similarities between Canada/US culturally more than most(probably any) other countries and society’s that are on our level.

I know. The implication I made is that we followed in the footsteps they imprinted. We’re pretty much the same people.

The US is &^@#ed right now and oversensitivity is everywhere, on all sides. US Politics and news became a devolving gong show that catapulted this. It’s a shame we’re tied to a hip with them.

Yeah but if people don’t like something they don’t watch it. No need demand it is taken off, slander him or the people who defend him because of their misunderstanding of comedy and taking things out of context. It’s more about people taking things they shouldn’t take seriously, seriously. A complete misunderstanding and misinterpretation and what they have to say is based off that. Sure they can say what they want. But given the circumstances it will say more about them than DC. DC literally made fun of everything imaginable too and one thing gets pointed out. He even points out the concept of this. I am sure you’ve heard of the story DC told at the end of The Closer. As DC’s late friend once said he doesn’t punch up or down, he punches lines and is a master at his craft.

I made this point last year. The first guys to go would be Horvat/Miller. They become UFAs in 2 years(including this one). Ottawa has proven that core players won’t stick around if you don’t give them a reason to. Hell there’s worry that it could happen to Toronto with Matthews if they can’t get it together and they have been making the playoffs. We haven’t been making the playoffs or having much success. The worse case scenario would be to have to go through an Ottawa-like rebuild due to failing to accomplish anything with this core. Obviously you don’t want that to be the case but there needs to be significant improvements this year. The last few years we’ve been streaky(not in a good way), unstructured(particularly special teams) and too reliant on stellar play from goaltending due to lacklustre defensive play. We won’t become a playoff team if we can’t conquer these flaws. Green needs to do a much better job. Coaching and management should be on a short leash(I was on board with firing Green last year) but Aqua stands with Benning apparently. If we fall the fault will rest on his shoulders.
