  1. I don’t mind 4pm starts on Fridays. Usually right after work for most peeps and you get to wind down, watch the hockey game right away and have time to spare to enjoy the rest of Friday night.
  2. I already pre drink and hit up Costco food drunk before going in. Or eat a thc(not too high mg) edible 30 minutes before instead of drinking and maybe only buy the refillable popcorn bowl. Skytrain and transit back. My wallet loves me for it. Always have a good time.
  3. When we're healthy this would be my roster Miller-Petey-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Garland Hoglander-Dickinsen-Pod Motte-Sutter-Lammikko Highmoore OEL-Poolman Hughes-Myers Rathbone-Burr/Schenn/Hunt If/When Hamonic comes back pair him with Hughes and drop down Myers with Rathbone.
  4. I just think with OEL and Hughes we can have more body movement. Hughes can roam more and we can rotate PPers around causing problems positionally for PKers and creating potential shooting lanes in scoring areas. As it stands now we're a bit too stagnant and only the puck really moves around. Force teams to play passive D due to puck and body movement. They chase while we're moving around with guys like OEL/Hughes/Petey handling the puck you might find a Boeser/Miller/Petey open backdoor.
  5. IMO you could go 4F set with Rathbone. If you have OEL and Hughes on PP#1 then it means probably Horvat is on PP#2. Better chance for them to win draw. Horvat already has chemistry with Pearson/Hoglander and it looks like Garland might be a long term linemate so the 4 forwards you would have out could mesh well together.
  6. Yeah if he's back next game for sure. I think OEL would be good on it though if we decided to drop one of Horvat/Miller. He's a pretty smooth playmaker and can get shots through. IMO he could take Miller's spot on the left side and do it better. If OEL decides to walk the line from the left side have Boeser creep up from behind the line(as bumper play passer) to near the top of the left circle for a one-timer. Petey goes to the net for a rebound and you already have Miller/Horvat in front causing havoc. Hughes on his one-timer side for shot option and Hughes may be slippery enough to fake the shot and pass it cross ice to Boeser for a one-timer. OEL definitely gives us options and we could always try 4F set on PP#2 with Rathbone too.
  7. I would take Chiasson off the #1 PP and put Garland of the left side. Or drop Chiasson and even have 2 D with OEL and Hughes. Put Miller or Horvat in front of the net. They're big boys.
  8. I give them the slight edge because of how our PP would destroy any momentum we had. First 2 periods were pretty even 5v5. Oilers controlled most of the 3rd. Demko had to be sharp. It was the last 5 minutes of the 3rd that we showed life, just like the last 5 minutes of the last game of the preseason. I felt like we were the better team in OT in terms of possession. Neither team generated superb chances though.
  9. After every PP we had the Oilers would regain momentum and carry it for longer periods. Demko had to be sharp and kept us in it until we could regain it. It was pretty even but the 3rd is where the Oilers carried most of the play besides the last 5 minutes. Hence why they have the slight edge. I wouldn't say we had the better forecheck either. Oilers kept us hemmed in a lot and we had to flip it off the boards more than they had to in order to get it out. Oilers had more scoring chances. IMO Demko had to make a lot more tougher saves.
  10. No we didn't. Oilers had the slight edge due to them not floundering the momentum they had on their PP like our PP did. What were you watching?
  11. IMO the Oilers carried play for 5/8 of the game. It felt like they did but not too much. We would build momentum 5v5 and carry play but then get a PP and have all that momentum dwindle due to PP#1 crapping the bed. Oilers kept building momentum with their special team play into 5v5 which gave them the slight edge overall in play throughout the game. We started the game well and ended it well in regulation. Oilers owned most of that 3rd though. That's the only period it felt like one team having an edge in play. It felt like the first 2 periods were even 5v5 but we started the 3rd with a PP. Demko had to put us on his back during a lot of that 3rd. We ended the 3rd really well though. Overall the result is acceptable for a road 1st game of the season. I thought the Oilers had a lot more of the better chances though and had an off-night offensively. If it weren't for Demko and some of the veteran D we would have gotten blown out, even if Smith was average. We could be a lot better. Our offensive stars had a bad night overall. PP#1 needs to be a lot better. Special teams overall can be. Need to find a way to maintain momentum and carry play longer than we do. That will happen with improving the PP.
  12. What are you talking about? Garland and Hog were are only forwards generating anything offensively and both drew penalties as well I believe. I am disappointed in our star offensive players Petey/Hughes/Miller. They did not have good games. PP#1 looked awful.
  13. Oilers kind of carried play most of the 3rd besides the last 1/4. We've been okay 5v5, both teams have had chances and momentum. Special teams has killed all the momentum we built throughout the whole game. Especially the PP.
