  1. I wasn't talking about the game but overall his general preseason. This isn't the GDT/PDT.
  2. I would like to see a #1 PP with our full unit and not Petan or Chiasson on it next game. Maybe try OEL on the #1PP too as he's been good with his playmaking ability and getting shots through to create chaos. Unfortunately we won't be able to see Boeser on it till he's back.
  3. Hopefully the OEL-Poolman pairing can carry their play into the season. Overall they have been the most dependable pairing in the preseason. We will need them to continue being that with Hamonic out.
  4. I wonder how the top 6 will shape out to be. Pearson is usually a mainstay with Horvat and they usually match up vs the other teams top lines but that leaves Hog/Garland fighting for that RW spot.
  5. He's definitely earned more of an opportunity. I like the fact that in the past 2 seasons he said what he needs to improve upon, particularly his speed, and actually made progress in doing so.
  6. I haven't really noticed any improvements with his speed. If he can address that it would make a worlds difference.
  7. Highmore was good in Abbotsford but the last game he played he wasn't great. He deserves another opportunity to see what he's got. Gadjo has hopped over Mac at this point as well as Highmore. Mac hasn't really shown improvement so far.
  8. The players who were bad last night bounced back tonight. Some more than others but it was good to see.
  9. I see them both on the roster personally with OJ starting as 7th D. OJ has been better than Schenn and Hunt is another smallish D that doesn't really PK. Burroughs definitely needs another look in preseason action though too, he's been quiet and steady which has benefitted him. I see us running with 8D as we usually do.
  10. I like Rathbone and still believe he should be rewarded with starting as the 3rd LD but he could benefit from some AHL time too. He made good plays but had a couple brutal giveaways and skated himself into trouble defensively. OEL was a lot better than him on the PP tonight too. Better game than last night but he wasn't as good as he was early in preseason. I think playing him with Myers might help him out.
  11. Svech grabbed and yanked on OEL's helmet so he couldn't really scrum like that. His helmet was not on his head but still attached. Horvat was upset of the yanking. You could see Horvat try to yank down on Svech's helmet during their little shindig.
  12. Could of had a few more goals if not for posts. Our offensive game started off well then leveled out Horvat's line was the only one generating grade A chances and all others were average for the most part. The goals scored against us were off a scramble play with all our AHL/young players on the ice on Halak and a faceoff play on Mikey line on the ice. Clean game in the neutral zone. Jets had a tough time generating much for the most part. IMO we had a stronger lineup and it showed but some of the AHL guys had a good game as well.
  13. I think the Jets might hate Lockwood now. They targeted him his last shift with hits.
  14. The following players have been released from their amateur tryout contract and will be joining the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL): Nielsen, Tristen Keppen, Ethan Wouters, Chase Kannok-Leipert, Alex The following players have been loaned to the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL): Plasek, Karel Silovs, Arturs Woo, Jett The following players have been designated for assignment to the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL): Stevens, John Stephens, Devante Rempal, Sheldon Martin, Spencer The following players have been assigned to their junior teams: Persson, Viktor (Kamloops, WHL) Lockhart, Connor (Erie, OHL)
  15. Amatuer mistakes on that 4 minute PP made by the amateurs. No worries though.
  16. I'd load up the PP1 with OEL and drop Horvat to PP#2. Horvat would have Garland and Hog as wingers.
  17. OEL looks nice on the PP. Making me kind of want to see him and Hughes together.
  18. Still an incomplete lineup. Hopefully a last look for some of these depth guys.
  19. Vesey played 20 games, Boyd 19 games and Chatfield 18 games. All less games played than Petey individually. Altogether they averaged 19 games, roughly playing 1/3 of the games last season. They weren’t really regulars in the grand scheme of things. We just saw them a lot more later into the year due to injuries and trades. I don’t think that lineup last night would match up well against last years lineup of players who have played 50% of the games or more if we are gonna go with what’s the most concrete lineup we had last year based off of games played. We’d even be playing with 11 forwards with only 50% or more of the games played roster and I would still like that lineups chances. If you added the next highest games played player to even it out it would be Petey. You’re looking at players like Hughes, Horvat, Miller, Boeser, Hog, Pearson, Myers, Schmidt, Benn, Hamonic, Edler. They’d be facing a defense alone that consists of Myers, Rathbone, OJ, Hunt, Schenn and Burroughs. I never claimed that it will show change for the better with a more complete lineup. I have emphasized the fact that I am incapable of knowing whether or not that there are any changes with the system due to the fact that we haven’t seen a more complete lineup play. I have literally stated and implied I am staying neutral until we see a full roster in action and then I will judge accordingly. I am not afraid to be critical of JB, Green, the other coaches or the players if I see reason to. I was last year and I haven’t changed now. IMO the lineup we had was incapable of playing a system because they were not good enough to as a unit vs the level of talent they played against. They were overwhelmed, outmatched and outclassed. That’s why we should be seeing some cuts right now IMO. That’s where we differ in opinion. I see the difference in talent as the most influential factor in that game.
  20. I see. I still see the lack of talent more prominently. I don’t see that personally in terms of the roster we iced. We had one offensive line in Miller’s line with Garland and a rookie in Pod, who have never played together up until this point. Hog and Dickinsen on other separate lines playing with lesser talent. Myers was our only regular D. Everyone else were AHLers, young players and guys fighting for extra spots. Last year we had Horvat’s line, Boeser and a better defense than that which is telling because our D-core was crap last year save for a couple guys. Also missing the overpaid guys who are still 4th line regulars at the NHL level like Sutter, Beagle, Roussel. A lot of the guys we saw last night I wouldn’t even consider as extras if we were to base them off last nights performance alone. I am still holding out judgements until I see the team play with a full roster facing another one which is likely later in the preseason. Personally gonna keep a neutral mind for most things besides individual play until then.
