  1. I think we very well could personally. Leafs paid too much for Tavares. If they didn't have that they'd be better off. We'd only have 2 at forwards at high cap compared to them having 3. The line of Mikeyev-Petey-Kuzy will probably be around 21-22ish M once Petey re-signs which isn't bad for a 1A line. Bedard would likely attract FAs cheaper like how Leafs stars have. Perhaps to an even greater degree. We all see how much clout he carries without even being drafted. With the cap increasing, not having 3 forwards at 33.5M like the Leafs, with winger trades(Beau/Garland/Boeser) and/or possibly trading Miller I think the cap would work. I see the pros and cons of both trading/keeping Miller if we got Bedard. Trading him grants us cap and return. We saw what we did with Horvat, if we replicated that with Miller but even better we'd be way better over the long term window having Bedard grants us but we'd suffer in the short term. Keeping Miller grants us a really scary top 6 and probably one of the best PPs in the league but we'd probably run into cap issues when Bedard's ELC ends. Both viable options. Short term vs Long term. Still though Miller-Petey-Kuzy Bedard-Hughes Probably the most sexiest sounding PP of Canucks history if it came to fruition. Would be competing with McDavid for sure. Even if you keep Miller then Bedard/Kuzy/Miller/Petey making up 4/6 of the top 6 so you probably don't need 2 other pricey guys with them since the two duos would carry their lines for the most part. Having cheaper guys that just create space and can finish would help balance out the cap of the lines which goes into my following point. The big thing would be finding cheaper guys in the top 6. Considering how much depth we have in winger prospects it could give us some cheaper options down the line(Lekkerimaki/Hog/Pod/Klimo?/Karlsson?/Forsell?). Overall I think we very well could. It isn't outside the realm of possibility. Getting Bedard or Fantilli would open up a lot of options and routes where there are a bunch of good choices. But it's so much of a long shot of a scenario from happening it's probably not worth too much of a discussion. It's fantasy talk essentially.
  2. Only way I could see him gone is if we somehow manage to win the lotto aka Fantilli/Bedard. Then there's an argument but there's also an argument to keep him as short term we'd have a scary top 6 but after the ELC we probably run into issues. Also depends what we get. Has to be better than Horvat's return. Either way options but ultimately the scenario is so much of a longshot so he's almost guaranteed to be sticking around.
  3. Barring something out of the blue happening at the draft this thread should end after the draft.
  4. Perhaps that was from 6’2” to 6’3”. He was listed at 6’2” prior to Canucks measurements of him which looks like were made recently.
  5. Might be hard to do this off-season but yeah. FA RD pool is bare. Graves and Soucy play both sides, Soucy more of a solid 3rd pair guy though. 3rd C important too.
  6. Canucks AHL/NHL listing of Karlsson and McDonough are different than Elite Prospects and are probably up to date. They have Karlsson at 6'1" 178lbs whereas Elite Prospects have him at 1 lbs heavier. Canucks have McDonough at 6'3" 190 whereas Elite Prospects have him at 6'2" 201 lbs. I think Karlsson has a long reach for his size which would make him look bigger. He also plays bigger.
  7. No but if you win the lotto at 12th worse in the standings, the highest you will get in 2nd overall. 13th would be 3rd overall and etc.
  8. We'd have to be drafting 12th or higher since we can only move up 10 spots from a lottery win now.
  9. You see a guy like Karlsson who's 6'1" 180lbs but plays a lot bigger than his size, excels below the hash marks, isn't afraid to mix it up between whistles as evident from his coaches remarks/penalty minutes and uses his smarts to be an effective player. Who as a rookie is leading our AHL team in goal scoring.
  10. Canucks site listed him at 6'3" 190lbs. Elite Prospects listed at 6'2" 201 lbs. Probably in that ballpark.
  11. What's impressive is the goal scoring totals the last few seasons. With SHL and Champions HL combined this year he has 9 goals and 21 assists in 63 games and is a +6. Champions HL alone he has 4 goals and 5 assists in 12 games and is a +5. Not too shabby. Interested to see how well he translates into NA hockey.
  12. Shitting on a player because other people shit on a different player is petty and irrational. If you do that you're worse than those you're complaining about. Probably should just move on. Seems like a giant waste of time and energy.
  13. We get a Bedard or Fantilli then a lot of other options open up for us and it will push us toward being a top contender a lot sooner. We would have likely added our best player in franchise history. So I am on team tank. Obviously not gonna fault the players for wanting to win but if management/coaching say wanted to give more kids look, Silov some looks or spread the ice-time more evenly, try new PKs… Essientally experiment with this last stretch of the season I wouldn’t complain.
  14. I think buying out OEL is a last resort and not needed to be able to sign a stop gap 3rd C. Trading one or two of Boeser, Garland, Myers while just waiting another year should do the trick without long term dead cap going into the 2030s.
  15. 6’4” is 6.33 ft. 6.04’ is 6’ and 1/2 an inch or 30/64th of an inch if you want to be more precise.
  16. Probably a good idea to sign a veteran 3rd C as a stop gap the next 2ish years. Raty/Aman/etc will take time to grow and it would be good to have an example to learn more from as well as help us in the short term.
  17. Yeah especially early in his career when he’d only show up during the 2nd half of seasons. Even last year. I like Bo but not for 8.5M. Happy his agent bent Lou Lam over. I don’t like Lou Lam after last draft.
  18. Miller also playing a lot and taking a bunch of draws. Gonna need some help in that regard at C and especially on the PK. Sustainability is key and we should be taking measures to maintain it.
  19. They probably use that cap to upgrade the D first and acquire a 3rd C to help out on draws and PK. Things will get more clear though once the off-season comes about. We don't have anything to go off of so what he decides is anyone's guess at this point. If he has a good year though he'll probably be getting a pretty decent raise though. We'll see for sure as next season progresses and after what we see with the cap this off-season. Lots of work to do.
  20. Not as much shipped out as price himself out if he keeps up his solid play. Will be a upcoming UFA next year. That's an issue down the road though.
  21. I think we need a physical defensive top 4 RD to help round out our D-core and create better synergy. Doesn't need to put up points but essentially be a better version of Schenn. Our 3rd C could be better which is the point. Team's relying heavily on Miller to take draws. Team needs PK help too. Dries doesn't PK and is more of a solid 13th forward. and Aman is a rookie who's struggling on the PK and on the dot, I like him for future 4th C/W but he's still growing. Probably need a solid veteran 3rd C to stop gap for Raty or whoever we draft(if we draft a C) and to help us compete in the meantime. We'd have to clear cap which I think management will try to do this off-season. Will be interesting to see how they go about it.
  22. We can do cartwheels behind Bedard as they introduce him during the opener. One up the Green men by being the... Skin men..
