Kesler since it will be a defensive/pesty 4th line which fits well with the likes of Smyl and Burrows. Kesler in his prime did win the Selke and was top 3 in voting four other separate times as well. He seems better suited for a 4th line role on an all-time list especially with the linemates I have there. Kesler and Burrows were also an elite PK duo during our time at the top with that core. Gives my forward group 2 solid righty centers and 2 solid lefty ones too for good balance. I like JT but he's more of a top 6/9 player all-time and he just misses that cut.

Bure-Linden-Mogilny Sedin-Sedin-Bertuzzi Naslund-Horvat-Petey Burrows-Kesler-Smyl Ohlund-Salo Hughes-Jovanovski Mitchell-Bieksa Luongo Miller Each forward line has size and skill. D-core was tough to do. This D-core is a bit more defensive/physical minded but has Hughes and some bombs from the point that the forward group could feed into.

ISIS-K is more extreme than the Taliban but they pretty much started through defectors from the Afghan/Pakistan Taliban. To put it stupid simple if the ISIS-K(and ISIS in general) captured you, as an american, you're dead. Maybe you're publicly(usually video recorded) executed in a brutal fashion. The Taliban would hold you hostage and grant the US an opportunity to negotiate a deal which would determine your fate. History has shown that the Taliban unwittingly harbor much more extreme-minded(which is telling) people and that they are at risk of defectors as a result. Even when the US and Taliban were in talks many that were a part of the Taliban opposed the talks and switched over as result. US claimed to do considerable damage to the ISIS-K while in Afghanistan but it remains to be seen how well the Taliban can handle them. Like Biden seeming to not have a handle of the situation he's in, the Taliban haven't really been able to get a handle of the more extremist group(and people within) growing on their lands. It doesn't make for a good mix which in turn lead to the past two bombings. I don't really trust the Taliban though and I don't like how they hold leverage. They will say one thing and their actions will contradict those statements.

He says that but the US also hand the Taliban a list of names of Americans and Afghans allies who want to evacuate? The same Taliban who are currently going from house to house searching for Afghans who worked with NATO forces, blocking these same Afghan allies from entering flights out of Afghanistan and beating(putting it lightly) them on the streets? The same Taliban who supposedly are guarding the exterior of the airport that allowed not one but two ISIS bombers to blow people up? It's hard to understand the logic and reasoning behind the US right now in regards with how they are going about their withdrawal of Afghanistan. It's hard to not see fault with how out of hand things have gotten. The US hasn't been good at talking about this. It sounds like they have no handle of the situation.

Facts for the US forces side of things in regards to the casualties. Deadliest incident for US forces in Afghanistan in a decade and one of the deadliest overall. First US forces deaths in the last 16 months(some sources stated 18 months?) in Afghanistan. More deaths in Afghanistan in 2021 than 2020 for US forces with this single event. Responsibility claimed by ISIS-K

I heard that Aus denied to take in the embassy workers and refugees initially and then changed their minds after? Is that true? If so then I would definitely want them in the same room. Every country needs to be taking as many of these refugees as possible on top of getting their own citizens out. As I stated 2/3 of the population are under 30 and roughly a little over 40% of the entire population is under 15 years of age(like holy &^@#) based off every demographic statistic I have found on that matter after confirming what that article I posted stated. That scares me. You're going to have the Taliban able to influence all these young boys, warping their minds into faulty logic/morality and get these young girls used to not having rights they would use to have, becoming suppressed from a young age. It's no wonder that mothers were trying to throw their kids over barbed wire fences. The US are in an extreme no-win situation. If they overstay their welcome it might lead to conflict with the Taliban/ISIS which would reignite the war but this time with zero bases of operation(which would look really bad). If they leave as soon as August 31st, they likely abandon Americans still stranded throughout Afghanistan, the Afghan people as well and leave the other nations in a more difficult situation. On top of this it's really hard to have faith in the Biden administration and the US Military/Security leaders right now given this last week of press releases. They haven't been good at talking about this. There doesn't seem like there's a clear plan/strategy and the only thing they seem capable of doing is trying to negotiate with the Taliban. The US have some of the heaviest shoes in the world right now and I would hate to be walking in them. I really do wish and hope that they can come together and formulate a solid step forward. This has become &^@#ed. Like horrendously bad. Very disheartening to keep hearing the stories coming out of Afghanistan. Our politicians shouldn't be pointing fingers either. Now is not the time for that. It's wasted effort and an unneeded distraction. Our main focus should be figuring out the best course of action each day with a very chaotic situation.

I feel for the women trapped there. It was night and day compared to when the Taliban were in control compared to the new US backed government(Was one of the positives the US helped accomplished there). Some women were educated in universities, studying abroad and coming back to afghanistan with high educations. 20 years of progress out the window on that front. The scary thing is a lot of these women weren't born the last time the Taliban were in power. 2/3 of the entire population is under 30. https://globalnews.ca/news/8132336/commentary-new-reality-women-afghanistan/

Former Canuck Brandon Prust in hot water for disgraceful tweet
Junkyard Dog replied to cuporbust's topic in Off-Topic General
Did he take too many shots to the head? He sounds like a teenager. -
Biden still keeping the August 31st deadline(barring Taliban giving them a reason) despite G7 leaders pleading for one. These G7 nations, including Canada, are prepped to stay following the US August 31st deadline. As it stands now US citizens should just be looking at these other G7 nations for help since it doesn’t look like the US is planning on missions outside the airport unlike other countries. The airport gates are too crazy. Lots of Americans still trapped. I expect Biden to stay past the 31st despite him claiming otherwise.

I heard the new Franchise mode will end up finishing in the 1st round. Innovative next gen experience.

It's probably the same game so might as well put the same cover.

Not a huge or considerable outlet(20M channel views/80k subs) but an interesting perspective from an Indian news outlet. It is spoken in English. What she has to say is based off her experiences as an expat living in Afghanistan throughout her years and has worked alongside the Afghanistan government as an apparent advisor. With all news, draw your own conclusions. She talks about the government, the fall of the Afghan Military, how the Taliban have evolved and her worries about women in Afghanistan.

[Signing] Flames re-sign Nikita Zadorov
Junkyard Dog replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We won't be able to play any sort of muck/grind game with the Flames during the season. We'd have to outscore them, which we can. If they're able to make the playoffs they could give a team trouble. They'd be able to play that sort of hockey better than most. That's the problem though, making it. Barring resurgence from certain players they might have a tough time to score. If they can play a good defensive style in front of Marky you never know though. They just might squeeze in. -

I'd still go after him in FA next year if we had the cap. -
Whoever was gonna lead this, Trump or Biden, would be roasted. Bigger concern, which you've acknowledged already, as have I, is getting the people in power(In the Military and Intelligence) who came up with these poor opinions/advice to be held more accountable. For me it isn't a left or right thing. President makes decisions based off of the people who give him advice. Military/Intelligence leaders are not tied to any political beliefs and stay stagnant throughout elections, which is fine/normal, but when things like this happen though there needs to be a level of accountability spread throughout instead of having the President as the main scapegoat. Regardless of whether Trump or Biden were in power with this situation I would still have that belief. It's about having proper objective accountability for me.

Sounds like the 2nd one is the worse side effects. If the 1st one was bad then I would have probably had COVID already which hopefully isn't the case as I wouldn't of wanted to spread it unwittingly. Will get it Sunday when my days off start just in case and do the same when the 2nd one comes around.
-
Anyone tell me how their first vaccine was? Did you feel sick? if so how long. Trying to plan it so if there are effects they're on my days off, which starts Sunday. If not I might just get it tomorrow, before work.

I figure that they likely never going to deter from their own May 1st plans as the May 1st agreement for the US to back out was agreed upon by the US and Taliban back in February 2020. I imagined that they planned the takeover according to that since no US/NATO troops no hassle. I don't think that they want US/NATO forces coming into Afghanistan which is what currently is happening in order to assist with the evacuations, 3000 more on the US side. Nevertheless they're probably happy that they won so easily even though it could of perhaps have been smoother. They'll probably pin the chaos on the US for not backing out sooner. That wouldn't surprise me. Whether or not the US was capable of backing out sooner I would like to know. I think the US people should know the entire process leading up to these events in order to have a complete understanding of how we got here. Is there people to blame? sure but we don't know who made what call based off what(from who?) information or who's advice was followed. We're left blindly pointing a finger at either Trump or Biden.

A lot of horrific things are happening there right now. Mothers throwing their children(including babies) over barbed wired compounds pleading for UK/US soldiers to take them with some falling on the barbwire. Apparently on the UK side, all their soldiers were crying at night. https://news.sky.com/story/afghanistan-desperate-women-throw-babies-over-razor-wire-at-compound-asking-british-soldiers-to-take-them-12384646 https://nypost.com/2021/08/19/afghan-moms-throw-babies-over-barbed-wire-to-uk-troops-at-airport/ It appears that the Taliban are trying to prevent access to the airport turning away fleeing people at checkpoints which was my biggest worry. They said women's rights would be more inclusive too but, as evident in the video above and tweet below(that she retweeted), Shabnam Khan Dawran was prevented from going to work at her job as a news anchor indefinitely. My main concern is getting who wants out, out US is saying it is extremely difficult to do that at the moment. They're negotiating with the Taliban was well as sending 3000 more troops over to Afghanistan to assist with getting US citizens and credentialed Afghanistan people out.
