Like I said if Ferland's back and healthy it solves that issue. Either way Roussell is a candidate to leave. Firstly we'd have the get rid of Eriksson/Sutter/Baer etc first hand. He's on the list but not at the top of priorities. If we get a couple buy outs Eriksson would be number 1 and we'd have to see who's #2. Benn takes a spot but we can just trade him. I can see 2 young D making the jump next year, one in the top 6 and the other as the 7th. IMO we will gradually bring in prospects as years go by. Mac is probably gonna be a regular and Lind will get the Mac treatment, being groomed for the following season. I'd be shocked if anyone replaced Pearson, he has been a top 6 2-way player for us and handles match up duties with Bo. Tall order for any rookie to handle his duties and responsiblities.

Meant not to that extent. Just another all-around RH shot D that can play in the top 4 that can compliment Hughes/Rathbone/OJ
-
That kind of goes with what I am saying when I want a quality RH D that can do anything. Could be plan A+ with Dillon/Edmundson being the more attainable goal. Either would be good next to Tryamkin. Dare anyone to get to the front of the net. Not too keen on giving up any young forwards yet. Maybe once a couple more forwards come in and prove they can play. I like Risto though, he fits our age group. I'd give up a 1st if it meant we were able to re-sign Risto. Imagine Benning going so bold to acquire Risto and sign Pietrangelo if we got a couple buy outs and was able to move out some cap. Might have 13-15 million tied up between the two but our top 4 would be incredible for a couple seasons till we'd have to re-sign Risto. Might have to give up Boeser for Risto too.

Thing is the same thing could be said about a lot of countries. Italy, Spain, France, Iran. I just think the Trump finger pointing about that is misplaced. Don't support him much but I don't think that this is something he can be blamed for a bunch, otherwise I might as well blame a bunch of other countries too for China's misdoings. Also with China covering it up and not being direct it became harder for countries to predict how it would change things since the only one was watering down the information. Hence why Italy/Spain/France/USA got hit hard. By the time they had to deal with the virus it was already moves ahead of it. I do think the blame falls more on China. If they didn't cover it up and made it clear that COVID-19 was no joke sanctions would of been placed much earlier and the curve could of been flattened early. Where Trump messed up is by saying the things he said in order to instill safety and security where he should of simply stated it was ongoing and hard to predict. Initially I think he said those things back in January/December because he actually felt it was nothing due to China's misinformation, after that though honesty would be what was best.

This is some SNL type $&!# right here. Wouldn't be surprised if I heard any in a comedy club. Probably not for a while since there'd be a period of paying respects to the victims after all is said and done. "Donald what do you think COVID-19 is?.." *Insert Donald Trump impression*

He could be that sort of attention seeker. Back tracking everything he says in order wipe the slate 'somewhat' clean. Playing with fire though as the President. If the Demos had a good candidate they'd eat him up in any debate. Leaders who are clear in what they say are gonna have a better time unless they got awful views but they'd be clear as day to see and they wouldn't get in. His vague way of speaking could actually benefit him in theory. I kind of think he's just a terrible public speaker though.
-
@mayor MCcheese @RUPERTKBD IMO you both make points. Racist people will be racist but Trump should watch what he says. Dude should be elaborate when he speaks. He's never clear in anything he says.
-
Dude needs to be waaaaaaaaaaaay more elaborate when he speaks. Somebody needs to tell him that but they probably have already numerously. Really bad press every time he speaks.
-
Chinese Originated Viral Infectious Disease lol. That's something you'd hear in a comedy skit.
-
I know that. History has shown it takes one extremely smart/motivated guy with an opinion and who isn't afraid to sway a country/peoples, for good or evil. Might have to come to that. Hopefully not as bloody as how history has shown us.
-
They also tried to turn it around and blame the US. Kind of supports what I am saying. Anybody who takes a step back and sees the whole picture can realize that China messed up. Costing lives and livelihoods of not only their own but the world. Hopefully most of their own population can realize that. They need better leadership.
-
That's just the subjective language aspect of it though. Makes it easy to assume generalization. Some people may blame China but they may mean the government/leaders there, requires elaboration before judgement IMO, I am guilty of it. There are people blaming the people there because of their eating/medicinal habits. Even China says they want to restrict those aspects (poaching/eating/medicinal/etc) but it's clear that they're half-assing it. I don't think they will anymore. That said Trump is never elaborate about anything. Easy to twist his words, especially for the media. Awful quality about him or any leader when it's that bad. Could be eaten up if the Demo's had a good candidate.
-
I think Trump was fooled when China was covering up how bad Covid actually was. China fooled everyone though. I also think that the numbers in China are watered down, probably for both their and the international public opinion, more so their own peoples though. So in a way I blame China but not to that much of a extent. The leaders there.

[Discussion] Compliance Buyouts, You Get Two
Junkyard Dog replied to Tre Mac's topic in Canucks Talk
There's absolutely no way they use that on Weber. Unless they can keep the buyout till later on when he actually digresses and have someone that can replace what he brings but that's years down the road. In terms of Nashville, they could but Habs gonna ask for stuff. I would be upset if they didn't get anything. -
Delorme was the Petterson pick. He was the first guy in the organization to bring him up and was extremely high on him according to Benning. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/kuzma-ron-delorme-delivered-first-hard-sell-to-get-elias-pettersson-on-canucks-draft-radar “Ronnie saw him early and was a loud voice for him right from the start — even before any of us had seen him,” recalled Canucks general manager Jim Benning. “He was in my office and said ‘we’ve really got to watch this guy.’ He loved his skill and hockey sense."

We have a lot of leaders and we could possibly bring someone who have leadership qualities to replace. Beagle, Pearson, Miller, Myers, Edler, Tanev, possible Toffoli, Horvat, Marky all have a ton of experience, some have a ton of successful playoff experience. I don't like Roussel anymore. He is a shadow of what he was last year and Gaud could use an upgrade. Dude doesn't PK and shouldn't be a PP guy. He isn't as physical as he needs to be to make up for that either. I consider Sutter more useful and I want to get rid of Sutter too. Hopefully Ferland is healthy next year, would solve that issue on the LW next to Gaud. In regards to Benn at what cost? Low risk. Dude is a cheap top 6 D that hasn't fit in here that's only signed for 1 more year. He can be easily moved.
-
Lack of size and Stecher isn't as fast or skilled as you think. Stecher is top 6 average defensively/physically too. They'd get eaten up in their own zone behind the hash marks. If you want to bring out the most while limiting their weaknesses they need better partners than each other.
-
Would make us better. I am a huge supporter of Rafferty as 7th D to start. Would be akin to Mac being our extra forward and being groomed but Rafferty would likely get 40+ games. We like to carry 8 D so Brisebois/Saunter/Chatfield can fight for that 8th spot, it's getting around that make or break time for them. OJ, Rathbone and Woo would benefit from AHL time, especially Woo. Would make us younger and inexperienced but the core top 6 have a lot of experience so if Myers/Tanev went down I'd be more comfortable with Stecher filling in. Personally though if we had the cap to upgrade on Stecher I would. Edmundson/Dillon would give us a killer top 6 with Tryamkin. That would be plan A and this would be plan B.
-
The few potential guys we have are question marks. Rathbone, OJ and Tryamkin look like they could be top 4 D. I am setting the bar pretty low for Rafferty, not that I don't like him but because it is hard to predict how he'll pan out as a 25 year old rookie next year so I don't want him to feel like he has a lot of expectations around him. Brisebois/Chatfield/Saunter are getting around that make or break time, same with Rafferty. They look like potential top 6 D I do think we need to add another RH shot high quality D in our prospect pool. Woo looks like he could become a really good 4/5 Dillon/Edmundson type. His physical game is his bread and butter. Need an everything RH shot D, talking Pietrangelo/Weber type that can be used in all situations and they'll be able to make the jump around the time Myers is gone in 3-4 years. That's one area in the draft I'd want us to look at for the next couple seasons. 2021 has some quality D so if we "made" the playoffs this year and gave NJD our pick this year I would be fine. Spend 2021's early picks on D, we seem to have better luck finding forwards than D in the 4+ rounds. We're gonna be adding younger D next year for sure. I see one guy in the top 6 and the other as the 7th. Get rid of Benn which would be easy.
-
Brenden Dillon and Joel Edmundson are both UFAs. Both quality big top 6 D that aren't afraid to throw the body, protect the net and stand up for teammates. Wouldn't mind either of them. They'd be good stable partners for whichever young guy we bring in. I imagine Rafferty being the 7th D and a pairing of Dillon/Edmundson-Tryamkin in the top 6, people wouldn't go near the net. At forward we're pretty set but if we're able to move some bodies Tyler Pitlick, Kyle Clifford or Zemgus Girgensons would be upgrades on Eriksson/Roussel/Sutter. I can't imagine any of them being too expensive in Free Agency but we'd need to move out bodies first. All of those guys bring a physical edge on top of being able to be used in a checking role whereas Eriksson and Sutter are both strictly defense guys and Roussel isn't a role player.
-
Guys remember the more D you have in your system the more likely you're gonna have one of them pan out. Not everyone we've got is gonna make it or even be as good as we think. We need OJ, Rath, Try, Woo, Raff, etc. Our D core isn't getting any younger.
-
If that was the case he would have gotten looks at C and not on the wing. Perhaps the organization thinks he makes a better winger than center.
