  1. He definitely is gonna have his hands full this off-season and it'll possibly make or break him for being a good or bad GM overall. It will be a huge defining moment for him. I hope he lives up to it.
  2. I thought Myers was good tonight also but he is very inconsistent.
  3. Maybe. We'd have to give up more assets for Eriksson than Baer/Sutter/Benn. If we managed to get rid of all of them we could re-sign everyone and bring in more pieces in FA like a bottom 6 D that can throw his weight around or bottom 6 forwards that do. JB's gonna have his hands full this off-season. Also we gotta take in consideration to what Ferland does. If he retires due to injury that's another 3.5
  4. I don't think we give Marky 7 personally. I think security is more important for him. Get rid of Sutter/Baer that's 8 million right there. They're the easiest to get rid of this they are 1 year deals. Benn is on a cheap 1 year deal so that'd be 10M. If Eriksson retired it would solve a looooooot of issues. IDK if he does but he should.
  5. If Gaud rounded out his game time would increase because he'd be a PKer and could be used more in a match up role. If Virtanen upped his physicality or became a checker it would be hard not to play him or a 3rd line with a rounded out Gaud a lot. It would make us become less dependent on the 4th line bringing in that checking play. We could then bring in more physical players that give us energy and bite. They both could put up 40 points this year on the 3rd line and they are getting more sheltered minutes. If they don't have to be sheltered anymore the icetime would jump and their production probably would too. They'd both get 15+ minutes more consistently.
  6. Leafs were in a more dire situation and everyone knew it. Marner was a RFA and had to be signed. We don't have to re-sign anyone big and can let guys go, which would not be good but it is still not nearly as dire as signing a Marner who could sign an offer-sheet. That said I do think we will have to give up assets but not as bad as the Leafs.
  7. If we lose out on Toffoli and he can't manage the cap then that would be the start of the snowball. If we don't make the playoffs this year and next year he'd be gone for sure. NJD would get a lotto pick and fans would be in uproar.
  8. We're a better team if they are in the bottom 6(3rd line) and we surround them with better bottom 6 players than Roussel, Sutter, Eriksson, etc. Also if someone goes down they're there to step up. It would be great depth. They need to round out their games a bit more though. They're still young.
  9. Minor injury for sure. Goaltending it is not.
  10. We can re-sign Toffoli if we trade out some players that have been useless for us or have too much cap. Sutter, Baer, Roussel, Eriksson. They all need to go anyway. We need more grittier players there and have enough defenders. At some point Virtanen and especially Gaud are gonna need to be more than secondary scorers. In Gaud's case he needs to develop that checking side.
  11. Not sure how it is not a part of it. You have to have your players ready to go and we've seen so many slow starts and have given up the first goal a lot. This passive defensive system doesn't help when you don't have first change and can't get your match ups as much as you want them. I don't think there are many fixed games, I am not a part of that crowd. Since the start of the year they've been bad on the road and it isn't a confidence booster.
  12. For sure. This is the home stretch of the season. Teams that are competing are stepping up. We can't really afford to continue this trend.
  13. Pearson's also been used more defensively and in match up roles though. Plays in all situations. In terms of physicality their play is both pretty even. Pearson to me plays better below the hashmarks and in front of the net. Virtanen should be more physical than he is. He is faster and bigger than Pearson. Motte has more hits than him and is half his size. Overall Pearson's been the better player but Virtanen is still rounding out his game. Virtanen has only been a secondary scorer on this team this year, same with Gaudette.
  14. We have a home-stand and win some games, building confidence than the road trip seems to throw it away. It's not a good trend.
  15. A dejected Miller is not a good one. Road trip hasn't been good for the confidence of this group.
  16. Watching the opposing team cycle easy is fun. The team's system does it well. Also Hughes getting one shift in the last 10 minutes is great.
  17. Now yeah kind of is, weeks ago I would of more than been fine with it. Even when we were winning a passive D-structure isn't gonna take us far and Marky was saving us.
  18. Benning yeah. Green probably should of been canned weeks ago. Can't get the most out of this roster.
  19. With the coaching staff no. We show promise then squander it away by not showing any sort of consistency. Look at a team like the Canes. They play hard all 60 minutes. If we can't play a solid 60 then it won't matter who we have in net, we aren't a playoff team. Coaches jobs are to get the most of their roster. I don't think Green does that.
  20. Benning has supplied us with the roster but our coach isn't getting the most of out of it.
  21. Worst loss of the year. Followed up a great 2nd period with the worst 10 minutes in the 3rd. Need a change to spark something.
  22. We kind of got enough guys for it. Motte, Sutter, Beagle, Pearson and Miller all have been used. Roussel should definitely sit for Mac.
