  1. Figured he is worth a thread of appreciation. For almost 10 years @-Vintage Canuck- has been here, reporting on trades, signings, rumors, post game, anything you can name. He has kept us informed and notified when we never did ask him to do so. He's been so good on these forums that beating him to announce things has turned into an accomplishment in upon itself. Today marks his 100,000th post and I personally feel that this is a great time for us to show appreciation for all the hard work he does putting us first. If you look on -VC-'s profile where it says "Interests" you will find and I quote "Making the Canucks Community a better place for everyone.". From the community to you, @-Vintage Canuck- thank you for making these forums a better place for everyone. I look forward for giving you appreciation again when it comes down to 100K Likes! Truly you have a heart of a Canuck.
  2. I'd say Dahlin has the better chance to be a Lidstrom. His ceiling is the highest among those four. No slack on the others either. All are top notch D.
  3. No problem. It is an interesting stat. It can help determine a number of things whether or not you're a liability in your own zone, how you are utilized, etc but it is only a part of finding out these things. 90.4% for Hughes isn't great since it is below our teams/goalies 5v5 save percentage at 92.2%. Especially if you consider he is used more offensively. Dahlin's is at 94% whereas his teams overall is at 92.4%. Keep in mind both players are used more offensively and get a lot more offensive zone starts. Means when Hughes is on the ice we get tend to get scored on more than the Canucks team/goalies average at 5v5 compared to Dahlin who tends to get scored on less than the Sabres team/goalies average which is pretty good. All these stats are on NHL.com
  4. 5v5 on-ice save percentage means the teams/goalies save percentage when said player is on the ice at even strength.
  5. Top goal scorer is what I meant. Like Matthews/OV/etc. We don't have one of those this year. Got some good guys offensively. Not saying Boeser is awful. Still a top 6 guy right now but he hasn't shown that elite goal scoring we've seen in seasons past and for him to be as effective as he can possibly be then he needs to be that again. It's not really a matter of concern yet. He's been on the downswing but it isn't as bad as anyone thinks and it is only his 3rd year.
  6. That's what I am thinking. Pros outweigh the cons for rebuilding teams. He has a decent year then he becomes a TD asset for more picks.
  7. OJ finished even +/- and with 2 shots today. Wasn't on the ice for any goals for or against. https://lscluster.hockeytech.com/game_reports/official-game-report.php?lang_id=1&client_code=ahl&game_id=1020464
  8. Still want to see him be more than a secondary scorer. Whether that be upping his physical game, which he should, or developing a checking game to be a PK/match up guy. I want to see him bring more to the table because I think he is very capable of that.
  9. I would say better chance of a deal happening after the first couple days of FA. Teams might miss out on the player they want and circle back to Baer. Like I said though non-playoff teams will look at him regardless. Project players that come cheap are good pickups for them. He has a decent year he then becomes a deadline asset which helps their rebuild.
  10. Lack of scoring and drive. Benefiting from playing with two guys that have better chemistry together. Gets prime-time but isn't what we're use to seeing from him. Put Virtanen or Toffoli on the #1PP and next to Petey/Miller 90% of the year see how many points they get. You could argue Toffoli gets more and the PP is better with him. Boeser is still a top 6 forward but used to be a dangerous top line scorer. Far cry from his rookie season. If he was as he was back then he'd have more than 30 goals and might be pushing 40. Petey/Miller might have more points as well because we'd be a much better team. Unfortunately that's not the case this year and he has taken a step back. Hopefully he can become that top line scorer for us again. We need one.
  11. Probably due to the cap hit and the fact he was signed on for another year. Teams might look at that cap and decide to try their luck at FA before considering a player like Baer. Ottawa/Devils/Ducks are teams who might be open to take these sort of players though during a rebuild. The Canucks definitely weren't afraid to do so and took chances on project players during their rebuild.
  12. Dahlin also has a higher 5v5 on-ice save percentage at 94% which is pretty good. Hughes on-ice save percentage at 5v5 is 90.4 which is very surprising IMO, you'd think that would be much better.
  13. I have been embracing the inner -VC- and have been waiting patiently.
  14. Dahlin also has a higher PP points per 60 at 6.03 while Hughes has 5.82. Hughes is 2nd in PP ice time while Dahlin is 16th. We draw the most PPs in the league so that makes sense.
  15. I highly doubt it. We are a much better team, especially offensively. 5v5 points per 60 Hughes and Dahlin are almost the same. 1.37 for Hughes and 1.33 for Dahlin. That is despite the fact that Dahlin is on a worse team with worse offense and had a concussion earlier in the year.
  16. Marky update ^^^^ Game we gotta start well in after the MTL slow start.
  17. On the QH thread I made a post stating that they have really similar production even though Dahlin is on a worse team. I also state the differences in both players and why I think Dahlin is much more valued and has more potential. Personally I'd take Dahlin which is no slight to Hughes. Both are amazing defenseman though that every other team wish they had.
  18. They won't want to trade Prov, he's their cornerstone on D and they don't really have a need for top 6 forwards.
  19. Depends what Toronto we get. Scorers show up or not. Roller-coaster of a team. Columbus is a good benchmark cause they are a really defensive team that doesn't score a lot and would make us play that way too.
  20. Big Mac Hog Pod Juolevi Rafferty Lind Rathbone HM: Tryamkin who's kind of like half a prospect.
