Clifford just destroyed Mrazek. Canes without both goalies due to injuries. -
If we were like 15 points ahead in the pacific sure i'd want guys like Bailey/Rafferty/etc to get looks. At that point it couldn't hurt to get some guys rest and see what we got. We're in the thick of things though so it's a lot tougher.

Another Boeser Deal(Discussion)

For Dumba and Greenway i'd think about it. Rather have players than picks. -
Screw Duclair go after Tierney. Dude is a way better fit at 3rd line C than Gaudette. Only a couple years older than Gaud too and is an RFA as well. Top Pker on Ottawa and plays the PP, almost 900 faceoffs and is 51%, Has 30 points this year with most of his zone starts in his own zone. Gaudette has a lot of promise offensively and could end up better offensively but he probably won't be better defensively or on the draw. Tierney is a helluva player now and we would still be set at C with him for years. Send them Gaud and Juolevi. I would personally try to send them Sutter as well to shore up their team at C for the following year. might have to add another mid-pick/prospect. Sutter is a cap dump but still a useful player that has value, wouldn't be too hard to move him to a team like that.

[Waivers] Zach Bogosian

Sabres D-core is not bad actually. Harder to crack than ours you can even say. Risto/Dahlin/McCabe/Montour/Miller/Jokiharju is good enough to compete for a playoff spot. Ullmark has also taken a step this year. Problem is they got one forward line that consists of one top NHL forward and no clear direction from the coaching and management team. Topple that with players probably reeling from the lack of direction from management/coaching staff and you got this pathetic product on the ice. They really should be better than what they are. -

Don't think anyone expects us to win this. Bruins are so hot that the sun is cold to them. They only lost once in their last 12 games I think. Hope I am wrong. -

We could then package Stech with Baer for maybe Simmons. Maybe that would be almost enough to entice them. A 25 year old top 6 D who's an RFA and a project player in his mid 20s. They need bodies for a rebuild. -

I wouldn't mind signing him and trading Stecher. Worst case scenario he plays 15 minutes a game like Stecher is now. -
I see Lind getting the Mac treatment. First call up, sticks around when injuries hit and gets used to coaches and players, groomed to be a regular the following year. He has top 9 potential and a lot more than Bailey. Rather have someone that is already established than someone who isn't. He's gonna have to change his game and we would be a much better team if we acquired someone who does bring in an intimidating physical presence consistently than hope than someone who hasn't does. Martin, Reaves, there are a number of FAs i'd rather have and that would be better and for a team that lacks that sort of pushback and play we need those type of players. We want to be a playoff team right? so lets do it the right way. We need legit grit and Bailey isn't that. That's where I am getting at.

[Speculation] Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie
Junkyard Dog replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I wouldn't mind Barrie in FA but we'd have to have a more defensive and legit top 6 pairing. Barrie would also have to stick with Edler. Also he'd have to be cheap So likely not. -
He turns 20 in July so yeah he can.

I think a big part of it is the lack of back up he has. Ferland is our most and only intimidating presence on the team. Mac could be that. Roussel hasn't. If he had Ferland and if Mac became that sort of presence and we had 1-2 more guys like that it might encourage him. When you're gonna hit people often and have the body to do it well people aren't gonna take that and if you got nobody behind you to back you up then you're all by yourself when you gotta answer the bell. IMO the best Virtanen we're gonna get is one that is gonna take the body consistently, especially on a team that lacks that sort of mentality. We should acquire more physical guys who bring that intimidating presence. Roussel hasn't and we definitely need a D man that does.

bullcrap Hardly compared to Mac, Fer or even Motte who's half his size. No room for guys who're big, fast, don't use the body and are only AHL scorers turning 25. No need for anyone who doesn't bring a physical presence in the bottom 6. We've got guys ahead of him that are much younger. We don't need half assers in the bottom 6. Get me someone legitimately gritty, not an AHLer. We're trying to build a playoff team. We can't mess around.
-
I reckon he wouldn't do much better than Boucher. We're also in a tough position, if we were like 15 points ahead in the Pacific we could give some guys extended looks. We need legit top 6 players to surround around our young players anyway and have good prospects at FWD. Hopefully Toffoli gets re-signed, it would round out our top 6 till Hog/Pod get established to the NHL game. I doubt either of them are gonna have a significant impact right away like Petey/Brock/Hughes. Only opens spots we will have is in our bottom 6 and we need grittier players down there. Bigger concern at D with a lack of serious D prospects. A lot of guys with some promise but nothing on a Pod/Hog level.
